First time being at a urology center, and honestly, it was not a bad experience at all…read more Check in was easy, the lady that helped check me in was thorough and nice. At appointment time, a nurse guy brought me and gave me a cup to pee in for testing. Then checked my bladder for urine retention after. Then waited about close to 30 minutes to see the PA i was scheduled to see. He apologized for the wait and then asked about my history and symptoms. He was able to conclude that due to my negative tests and my posture, that i was most likely having on and off symptoms due to nerve related problems. He recommended me to see a physical therapist and try a standing desk to alleviate the symptoms. A lot better than doctors that would push antibiotics/meds despite negative results. Hopefully I don't have come back here again, but I would recommend this urology center if you are having urological problems!

After getting a UTI and using the prescribed antibiotics it came back within 2 days, was put on another antibiotic and it came back again. Tried a third and sent in a culture and was told on a Monday he had an antibiotic resistant strain of bacteria UTI and it was quite serious. Mr Massey said he would make sure he put in a prescription for the antibiotic to cover him until home health IV antibiotics was set up. He said that would be either Wednesday or Thursday. Nothing was put through, daily we called their office, our pharmacy called twice and the receptionist at Dr Yamada's office said we needed to be patient. Well by Thursday his UTI got worse and he ended up in the hospital. They immediately screened his infection and put him on the correct IV antibiotic and had home health IVs for 10 days arranged for the following day. This office was nothing short of negligent in their care and follow through.

Please forgive me, Doctor if I got the wrong Dr. Balacuit, but I don't think I do. It has been a long time and who really knows the first name of doctors anyway? LOL If it is him, I went to this doctor for a general yearly check up for my first visit to his office. Although this was years ago (before Yelp or the internet even), I still remember this guy. I expected him to ask me a lot of questions during this physical. He should have drawn blood, checked my prostate, checked my urine, etc.. All that was done by him was that my blood pressure was checked and he checked my chest with a stethoscope. And he checked my reflexes and shined an instrument in each ear. That was it! When I complained about it not really being a thorough enough yearly exam, I remember he asked ME what else I wanted him to do! He is the doctor. WHY should I have to tell him what to look for? And... he didn't even ask me very many questions at all. I tried to be nice, but I felt I was being cheated out of a proper yearly physical! I went to him primarily because his office was just a few blocks from house. I thought I would give him a try since my doctor was retiring. Dr. Balacuit is Filipino. I usually get along with Filipino's very well. BUT NOT WITH THIS GUY.... He had a bad attitude right from the start in my opinion, almost instantly argued with me and didn't seem to know what the heck a physical should be like. I was really upset. I only get to have ONE physical a year and this guy, I felt either didn't care about my health or he didn't know what the heck he was doing. The worst part is that he argued with me almost immediately. That is very unprofessional and uncalled for. He must have been overly sensitive back then, because he probably heard the same complaints frequently. You can go see him if you want to, but as for me, friends. Forget it! I have NO desire to go through that again. In reading the other reviews, I see now that he probably hasn't changed much, because there are a lot of the same type of complaints listed here. This was my experience. I don't know, maybe he is nicer with other patients and acts more competently. These are just my opinions and observations, which I am entitled to have. :) I hope this helps Yelps readers.

I was told I had Lymphoma and had started Chemo, which I wasn't to keen about. Dr. Shen was really interested in my whole being and formulated an herbal tea for me just by looking a pictures of my tongue and my blood work from at the lab. Dr. Shen has reformulated my tea 4 times, !st. time was to keep my energy up and so far I haven't missed any work unless it was climate related. Then being the chemo blew my large intestine open, I had an external clostomy bag. Dr. Shen reformulated the tea again so the Cardiologist then signed off on the reverse surgery. Another time Dr. Shen found in my lab work a life threating sepic issue that 2 other Palo Alto Drs. missed. Basically Dr. Shen is a real human being that cares about your good health, she has sent me a Christmas gift of edible mushrooms and even sweet rice which helped me gained back the 45 lbs. lost. She even called after Xmas to see if I would like some more shitakie mushrooms as her other patience. i have told dozens of friends and relatives about her as she saved my life!

Edit: The owner has sent me a DM threatening to sue me for defamation if I do not take this review…read moredown which is so unethical! I have reported the owner to Yelp and Optum for threatening lawsuit. They should be more concerned with providing high-quality care and rectifying their mistakes rather than threatening patients who share their negative experiences. Please check out these other reviews from women with the same experience getting an IUD: https://tinyurl.com/4er5hecs https://tinyurl.com/3d2734ek Original review: I cannot put into a review how disappointed I am with this office. 1 star is not low enough. TLDR: My doctor referred me here specifically for an IUD insertion appointment, but I have not been able to get one as they are not accepting my insurance (despite them being in my medical group and confirming with my very good insurance plan that it is covered)!!! They initially wanted me to send over $1,000 out of pocket to some random Zelle/Venmo account for the procedure, and then "refund" me when they billed my insurance after. If I did not ask them if I had been approved by insurance, I would have paid and ended up not have being refunded! I saw many others had this same experience. Insurance billing staff was completely unprofessional and was talking about gambling while completely messing up my billing and forgetting to have me sign major paperwork. I have voicemails of this experience and have filed complaints with Optum. I have been in constant distress during the process of trying to receive an IUD with them, and have had to call them almost every day for weeks on end. The insurance billing staff is not prepared for their job. They are not knowledgeable on billing procedures and communication is very poor. I came in a few weeks ago after getting approval to go here from my GP and was referred for an IUD appointment. I came in, gave them my insurance, and paid $50 out of pocket co-pay to to have an appointment to get approved for my IUD (I never was seen by the doctor). There was absolutely no warning that they may not take my insurance for an IUD despite filling out extensive paperwork and giving them my insurance before this initial appointment! After my initial on-boarding appointment, I was given the go-ahead to set up my next appointment for my IUD insertion. However, the office staff and doctor forgot to have me sign required paperwork, so I had to come back into their office to do this before they would put in the order for the IUD. The insurance billing staff member was too busy complaining about how he lost a bunch of his money in online sports gambling (Cowboys vs. the Bears football game) with other staff rather than making sure I had everything I needed. I even had to remind them to scan my insurance card! So completely unprofessional and disrespectful. After I signed the paperwork, this is when they began telling me that my insurance did not cover the device (though I confirmed with my insurance that they do, it is literally required by law in the Affordable Care Act that major non-religious insurers must cover the IUD that I wanted). I have given up and have changed providers. I saw other reviews saying they were pushing expensive hormone injections on patients and had other questionable billing practices and I do not doubt it one bit. I really think there is something fishy going on with how they do the billing and I have reported it to Optum. I WISH I LISTENED TO THE OTHER REVIEWS, PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT AN IUD!!!

I have had a month of going back and forth, my insurance has assured me and the office that the IUD I am getting is 100% covered under the preventative services Healthcare Reform Bill. This includes all co-pays related to a removal and insertion. I had to pay a copay to remove one, after going back and forth there is now a refund "on file." I am now being asked to pay a $1,000 deposit for the IUD when my insurance will pay it 100%. Why the deposit? It's their company policy and I need to speak to their billing department. How can I do that if they are not answering my calls? My appointment for the insertion of an IUD was canceled without my knowledge. I found out because I followed the link on my text, that confirmed my appointment and it said CANCELED. I would have taken time off my work to go to a canceled appointment? This whole thing should have been so much easier than they are making it out to be. I will be calling my insurance to get a new referral to a more competent OB/GYN office.
