I had an appointment at First St . He took me 1 hour later. Very cold, it ended up that it wasn't a root canal. The tooth was loose. He immediately left the room and said. I don't do extractions. Cold and rude. I don't recommend him to anyone. When you have a tooth issue you need compassion. read more

This is based upon my family's personal experience with Dr. Khalili and his office staff (receptionist and office manager). Avoid this office and find a decent physician. Dr. Kahlili saw my 83 yo mother when she was in the hospital due to a stroke. They discovered she had a large kidney stone and needed it fractured. Dr. Khalili saw my mother in the hospital and told us to see him after discharge. It took us 3 months to schedule an appointment to see him, just for an initial consultation. We received a reminder emailed, the day before our appointment, to arrive at the appointment time, but never did it says to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out a 4-5 page paperwork. It only took us 5 minutes to fill out. Because we didn't get to the appointment 30 minutes early to fill out the paperwork, they canceled my mother's appointment. We were not late for the actual appointment. Why send out an email reminder without including to arrive 30 minutes earlier. I took time off from work, paid for parking to take my 83-year-old frail mother to have Dr. Khalili , his office manager and receptionist canceled our appointment because we didn't arrive 30 minutes before the actual appointment to fill out a 4-5 page paperwork, which actually only took 5 minutes to fill out. It is Unprofessional and Heartless to do this to an 83-year-old stroke patient who Dr. Khalili had seen in the hospital. He even told her to see him when she was discharged. It feels like a very cruel sick joke to do this to an 83 yo stroke patient. I hope this does not happen to other families. Be warned. read more

They need some kind of a communication system. There is no way to send messages/questions except by giving office staff the medical information. Then, you have to call them back to get an answer. Once, someone forgot to call me back. That is no way to run a doctor's office. You can see your lab results, but no one calls you to talk about them. This gets so tiresome. read more

I made an appointment request online for June12. Afterwards got a call from his Office. After they found out that I had Medicare, I was asked if I had another Insurance ( I have but didn't let them know), I was told that there was no Appointment until July 19th wich I refused. If a Dr. Office is more interested in your insurance and not in you as a Patient, I think he is not in the right profession.As a MD you should have interest in your Patient first an the Insurance you carry second. read more

This review is more about the staff than the doctor. I have been bringing my father here for over two years every time it has been a negative experience with the front office. They are rude and don't even acknowledge me or my father. I was 15 minutes late one time in two years and multiple people in the front office gave me a hard time about it. I told them, I did try to call about being late multiple times. Their reply was, "well, we're really busy." That same day my father was prescribed medication for a procedure he needed done in two weeks. One of the meds was not covered by his insurance so his pharmacy and I contacted the office to approve a medication request. My fathers pharmacy and I called almost every day for almost two weeks leading up to his next appointment to get it approved. When I asked the staff why it was taking so long. First excuse was the doctor hadn't been in the office. First excuse was the doctor hadn't been in the office. Then the next excuse was that they never received anything from the pharmacy at all which is a complete lie. Two weeks you never received a fax or a phone call from his pharmacy from multiple pharmacists? Makes zero sense. Also, you're a doctors office you should be concerned that your patient is suppose to come in for a procedure doesn't have the medication he needs for it, especially when his caregiver is calling the office every single day to get his medication. The front staff is very unprofessional, inconsiderate, and cold hearted people. All of you except for Mindy should be ashamed of yourselves. I had to wait a week (in pain and discomfort) for lab results, and then I had to call myself to get the results. No one called me! I could write a book about the mistreatment I received from Khalili and his staff. I had a urinary tract infection, which did not heal with the sulfa drug my primary doctor prescribed, so he referred me to Khalili. At my first appointment, Khalili marched in with three other men, and announced they would be observing. He did not bother to ask if that was ok. Khalili proceeded to perform a detailed genital and rectal exam, with them standing a few feet away. Wasn't that considerate? He then announced he thought I had bladder cancer, with no basis, other than his general perceptions. He said he wanted to perform a painful bladder inspection. I was in pain with the urinary tract infection, so I told him I did not want it. Khalili ordered a CT scan, and later a sonogram, and later an x-ray. On my second appointment, Khalili, without notice, tried to perform the bladder exam, despite there being no evidence of cancer on the CT, and my prior objection. I refused to let him proceed, much to his displeasure. The CT scan did show I had a large kidney stone, although it was not causing any pain. Khalili ordered the sonogram, and I kept the appointment. The tech who performed the sonogram didn't bother to introduce himself, and was pretty sarcastic in response to my questions. That afternoon, I received a call from a man, who may or may not have been the tech. Whoever it was, he accused me of not showing up for the appointment, in a menacing tone. I told him I had been in the office, and he said he would look into it. Khalili finally agreed that I had a urinary tract infection, which eventually went away with cipro. My urine tests returned to normal. Nevertheless, Khalili now wanted me to get an x-ray. After I had the x-ray, I did not hear from Khalili's office for 2 1/2 MONTHS. I assumed the kidney stone had dissolved or passed. I then received a call from the surgery scheduler, who asked when I wished to undergo shockwave surgery to shatter the stone. I told her I had thought the stone was gone, and since I wasn't experiencing any pain, did not want the surgery at that time.. She scheduled an appointment with Khalili's assistant, which I reluctantly agreed to. The assistant tried to pressure me into having the surgery, and only told me that my urinalysis that day was normal after I asked about it. I said i would consider the surgery. In large part because I wanted to make sure I did not have cancer, I eventually agreed. I told them he could perform the bladder inspection while I was under anesthesia. I received a voicemail from the scheduler setting the date, and she asked me to call to confirm. When I called, whoever it was who answered denied I was scheduled for surgery. It took awhile, but she eventually figured it out. When i was returned to the recovery area after the surgery, the sheets were soaked in blood. I was in pain, and was nauseous. I was urinating dark red blood. Khalili didn't bother to stop by to tell me how things went, or if I had cancer. No one at the hospital or his office could answer my questions. I had a very unpleasant recovery, experiencing a lot of pain, bloody urine for several days, nausea, constipation, insomnia and muscle cramps. I called his office to report this, and that night, Khalili finally called me. He said everything was fine. He only told me that I was cancer-free after I asked him. I returned to the office a week after the surgery to have the stent removed. (They originally were going to force me to wait 10 days, giving conflicting reasons.) The associate who had pressured me to have the surgery performed the stent removal. Without applying a local anesthetic, she ripped the stent out, causing me substantial pain. I wouldn't go anywhere near that office again, but if you do, you have been warned. read more

I had some pains in my side and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Khalili a few weeks ago. He was every easy to talk to. He described the situation and the treatment plan for it. They will try their best to schedule any needed surgery and follow ups as quickly as possible when you have a higher priority circumstance. The office staff was great as well. *tip: you will likely be asked to submit a urine sample at every visit so be prepared for that. Ran out of refills for medication. Called the office multiple times, at least 5 times in a span of three weeks. I couldn't get someone on the phone even during office hours- so I left multiple voice messages. I even had the pharmacist fax over the refill request at least three times. NEVER got the refill from them. The two times they did call me back they told me they sent the prescription to the pharmacist. Yet the prescription never went through. So I figured let's give them the benefit of doubt. After multiple calls to the pharmacist I decided to do a teladoc appointment with a doctor I've never been with before and request a refill from them. THE PRESCRIPTION MAGICALLY APPEAR AT MY PHARMACIST WITHIN THE HOUR. Not from this establishment but from a teladoc doctor! Turns out it wasn't me or my pharmacist that dropped the ball but Huntington Urology's office that completely dropped the ball and legitimately did not fix it! So glad there wasn't meds for WEEKS because this doctors office couldn't get it together. WEEKS WITHOUT MEDICATION. Beyond unbelievable. read more

I wished there were more than 5 stars to rate Dr Khalili with. Great personality, caring, conscientious and most importantly, a great surgeon. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and needed to undergo a radical treatment. After consulting with a number of doctors and surgeons, I decided that surgery was the best option. I was told that surgery was the safest option while it came with the risk of losing many functions at least for a number of months, possibly for the rest of my life. I picked Dr Khalili to perform the surgery as he was highly recommend by many doctors. He performed the surgery 20 days ago. Seven days after surgery I was able to return to work. I had ALL of my bodily functions on the seventh day which I was so worried to lose. Today I am perfectly normal. No different at all from a month ago, except the cancer is gone! Since the first day I met Dr Khlili in his office, he patiently described the procedures and risks and the best and worst case outcomes. Glad to say that the outcome was better than the best case scenario! I have been to his office a couple of times for post surgery checkups. He has been calling me on a regular basis to check on me. I would not recommend to go to this facility if you have any Urology issues. The staff there is not well trained. I went there recommended by by most trusted primary care doctor. As I arrived, they ask me if I had symptoms, I say yes. They asked me if they have done any test, I say yes, they asked me if I had the test results, I say yes. A few minutes later, they come back to me and say: we are sorry but you need to go to the ER because you have COVID. I say, I'm sorry but I don't understand. They say yes we ask you some questions and you responded yes to everything. I see a responded yes to the UTI symptoms, that the reason I'm here, you never asked me about COVID. They say sorry but we need to remove you from our building because you are putting all our people at risk. I just left the place. That shows the level of ignorance and the level of training the employees have. Discrimination is much easier to do than to make the effort to really help the patient who really needs care. I was referred to Dr. Khalili in a semi-emergency situation due to a complication from an unrelated surgery. I was coming off of what was already a complicated surgery, and I was extremely nervous to be dealing with yet another specialist. But Dr. Khalili was wonderful. He and his NP both really take the time to listen carefully and explain thoroughly. His follow through is excellent. He called me at 7pm at the end of his work day to check in after the outpatient surgery that he had conducted to address my complications. I have seen him a few more times for follow up, and each time it is reassuring to see him. read more

In late January of 2018, at my annual physical, my general practitioner informed me that my lab work showed a spike in my PSA level and recommended that I see a urologist for further testing and follow up. Since my insurance permits me to select specialists without referrals or network restrictions, I did my homework. I looked at online reviews of urologists that included special qualifications, certifications, schooling and rankings of their hospital affiliations. I talked to doctors and patients whose opinions I trusted, and I read. In the end, I opted for Doctor Ramen Khalili at Huntington Urology, even though the wait for a first appointment was almost a month long. By the time I showed up for this appointment I was scared and anxious (I'd had plenty of time to read about prostate cancer online). Doctor Khalili immediately sensed my anxiety and calmed me down with a warm smile and a reassuring hand on my shoulder. He explained there was no need to panic. We would address my elevated PSA level in a methodical, step-by-step manner that would yield the most accurate diagnosis possible and steer us toward the best treatment options available, if indeed treatment was required at all. A follow-up PSA test indicated I did, in fact, have a rising PSA level, and ultimately Dr. Khalili performed a needle biopsy which revealed a moderately aggressive prostate cancer. At this point, he ordered a full-body bone scan and gave me some recommended reading on prostate cancer and its treatments. At about 9 pm on a SUNDAY evening, two or three days after I underwent the bone scan, Dr. Khalili called me at home to let me know the bone scan had come back clean. He had just returned from a short family vacation, gone to his office and found the results of my test on his desk. He knew I would be in high-anxiety mode waiting for these results, so he called, there and then to put me at ease. He told me to bring my wife and all my questions to my next appointment, at which he took us into his office and patiently addressed every one of our concerns and questions (and there were many). We never felt rushed. There was never a hint of condescension or dismissiveness in his answers and explanations. I told him that the reading he had recommended urged patients to seek a second opinion and that I had already made an appointment with the UCLA Department of Urology for this purpose. he was totally receptive to the idea and encouraged me to follow through. He also, at my request, put me in contact with a patient of his who had recently undergone a prostatectomy. After reviewing all my test results and records from Dr. Khalili's office, the urologist at UCLA told me that I was definitely a candidate for one of the curative treatments for prostate cancer and Dr. Khalili was right on target with his diagnosis and the protocols he'd followed to get there. In the end, I opted for a robotically assisted prostatectomy at Huntington Memorial performed by Dr. Khalili. It's been about four months since my operation and so far, so good regarding my recovery. None of this, of course, was or is easy. But I feel extremely fortunate that I chose Dr. Khalili as my doctor. Beyond being a skilled, knowledgeable doctor and surgeon, he is simply a great person. He is a professional with a heart. As the patient I spoke to put it, "he really cares." You can tell Dr. Khalili takes great pride in being a doctor. But that pride does not spring from the status of his position or the prestige of his title. He's proud of being a doctor because of the good he does, because he helps and heals other human beings who are more to him than simply names on a chart. And I think that is how it's supposed to be. I'd also like to express my thanks and appreciation for both the staff in Dr. Khalili's office (they are all great) and everyone who helped with my care at Huntington Memorial Hospital. With several recommendations from staff members of Huntington Hospital, I decided Dr. Khalili was the right choice for my vasectomy. I found him to be polite and professional. The procedure didn't take long and I barely felt a thing. We even engaged in small-talk as he worked. Since then everything has healed up nicely and you'd never know I had any sort of surgery. I can't even see a scar! As for the negative reviews against the staff; I cannot say that I had any issue here. While they often seemed very busy, I always treated them with respect and they did the same for me. Perhaps those leaving the bad reviews expect to be treated like royalty? I don't know. Great doctor, horrible office personnel. I was warned before going in to BEWARE the billing department, but didn't think twice about it until recently when the rude and disorganized billing office harassed me to pay an outstanding balance. I tried to explain that THEY screwed up my bill when THEY billed the wrong insurance company. It took months to sort out and if I didn't do the agonizing research for them, I would have been held accountable for a very large bill. The insurance company instructed me to call them multiple times to ask them to make the correction on their side. It took them months to comply. It was a red tape nightmare, and entirely their fault and yet they had no problem harassing me with nasty phone messages and calls daily. FULL DISCLOSURE: Dr. Khalili performed my vasectomy back in 1998. But Yelp didn't exist back then. I felt he did such a good job it was worth coming back almost 15 years later to write a review. The man does incredible work, I had a complication that required me to visit a hospital, and he did the procedure there. It worked out flawlessly. Another important consideration: he will perform vasectomies for people who have not had children. The nurse practitioner left to get the dr. waited another 20 minutes. I asked where is the dr and I was told I had to wait another 30 minutes by now I was waiting for almost 3 hours. Nurse practitioner said my appointment was changed from dr Khalili to his. At this point I just left. No respect for patients and their time. Discussted by this office behavior. I first met Dr. Khalili after a PSA level showed elevated on a blood test in the fall of 2016. My general practioner referred me to Dr. Khalili. Dr. Khalili is a non nonsense type of M.D. and after a rectal exam and ultrasound, he said minimal procedures would not benefit me due to the size of my prostate. After a biopsy showed cancer, he suggested a radical prostatecomy. I am 75 years old and this is the first time in my life I was afraid due to any medical problems. It was something I had to face. There was no alternative. After some sleepless nights, I came to accept it and resigned my self to getting it done. His professionalism made it easier. He had told me straight upfront what the problem was and what needed to be done. I put my total trust in this man. He did not disappoint! The surgery and recovery went flawlessly. The cancer is now minimal and contained. I am a much healthier person because of this surgery and side effects were minimal. The staff at his office are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot give a high review for him. He actually came highly recommended, but from the beginning, I was not comfortable with the receptionists. I found them to be cold over the phone. He was also very overbooked, so getting an appointment was very difficult. Once I did, several weeks later, I was not very comfortable. Dr. Khalili himself was okay, but did not even do an examination, which I was expecting. He gave me some antibiotics for an infection, but wouldn't clarify what kind it was, which bothered me. I was told to make an appointment for an ultrasound (which again took several weeks). I was not comfortable with the ultrasound tech, and felt like a burden to him. After the appointment, I tried to make another one to get the results, but was unable to get one, again, despite being in a lot of discomfort. My mom talked to someone who said she would have the doctor look at the results, and get back to us that day, about when we could meet. Didn't happen. Called the next day, following up, and again, no answer. I do not feel that they properly respected my mom. I finally found a new doc to help me, and it's been a much lovelier experience. Dr. Khalili did my vasectomy about 1 month ago. He performed the procedure confidently and with a steady hand as we chatted about sports and family. I had an extremely uncomfortable prostate problem that progressively worsened over 20 years. During that time, I had consulted with several doctors and tried several drugs. I hated the drug side-effects but I never felt confident about having surgery. Finally, last year, after reading up on the latest procedure (green laser) I decided to think seriously about surgery. Dr. Khalili was recommended by my GP and two other doctors that I trusted. During my initial visit I knew I'd made the right decision. Dr. Khalili was professional, knew is stuff and had great people skills. He gave me information that I trusted (because I'd read up on it quite a bit) and he made a point to set realistic expectations about the results and possible problems. The surgery was one year ago in January. It went without a hitch and I could not be happier with the outcome. A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Khalili and his staff!!! I am 27weeks pregnant and I have had EXCRUCIATING right flank pain, so I was admitted into the hospital for two weeks. Dr. Khalili was the assigned urologist for my stay, and although we haven't figured out exactly what the problem is--I had a wonderful experience with him. He is very knowledgeable, however, because I am pregnant we are so limited to what we can do. Anyway, he isn't a primary care physician so don't be offended if he doesn't want to sit around and chit chat. He goes in and carefully fixes what he needs to fix and moves on to the next problem. If you want a doctor that is gonna sit and talk with you for 30-45min don't see Dr. Khalili, because that's not what he's there for. read more

My experience with Dr. Khalili has been very good. The phone interaction with the receptionist to set up the first appointment was pleasant and painless. She was polite and answered all the questions that I had for her. My only gripe is that Dr. Khalili's schedule was booked far in advance, which I guess is due to his popularity. At the appointment Dr. Khalili was very nice and pleasant to talk to. He took the time to explain my diagnosis in a way that was easy to understand and he answered all the questions that I had. Although I am sure he was busy, he made me feel as if my appointment was the most important thing to him at the time. This made me feel very comfortable as a patient under his care.
