I can report that I had an absolutely fantastic experience and both Tina and Julie did a masterful job. We did a couples massage this past weekend and opted for deep tissue. Both Tina and Julie are true masters of this technique and really did a wonderful job. I have been getting massages for decades at 5 star resorts to little local places so I really feel I know when it's a good session or not. Thankfully this was a good session. This is not a full service spa with steam rooms and full bass. It is a straight massage spot, but it's very clean and quiet which all that is needed for a great massage. They offer deep tissue, Swedish, Thai, reflexology, hot stones, cupping, full body scrub, pregnancy, and I'm sure a few other options. I tend to do deep tissue myself, but every now and then a Swedish is a nice call. Parking is really easy, it's located in a large shopping center, so there's plenty of free parking spaces right out front. Pricing is also very fair, it was $80 for 1 hr of deep tissue, and the entire staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend and will be back again in the future for more sessions.

Before our massage/nail service, we were seated outdoors in the patio area and served complimentary fruit, tea, and champagne. The vibe outside was so cute and relaxing. It felt breezy and nice. The masseuses came out to put heated neck wraps on our shoulders and soak our feet in water with rose petals and rub our feet. We had fun chatting with them. The people working here are so friendly and fun! Our services were great as well, which included facials, swedish and thai massages, and a manicure. Love that there is an attached nail salon. We came in a large group of 8 but they were able to fit us all in the same appointment time. We paired up in rooms for the massages. After our service, they served us delicious coconut water and more snacks/drinks. The owner even surprised me with a little ice cream, and sang a birthday song, and gave us a bunch of spoons for us to share. They brought out a sweet sixteen sign for fun even though I'm definately way older haha. All of us had a lot of fun and laughs. Thank you so much for giving us the best time and making me feel special :) It exceeded my expectations and is memory I'll take away with me. Highly recommend for a girls day here!

The amenities were cheap, the AC wasn't working, appointments ran late, and the operation felt held together by good intentions. Somehow a massage and facial became an almost four-hour adventure. The massage was fine. The facial was terrible. No one was rude--the place was just spectacularly unpolished. If you're looking for a basic neighborhood massage, you may be perfectly happy. If the website has you picturing a serene, elevated spa experience, lower that vision several floors. I went in for relaxation and left needing a glass of real wine and a legitimate spa day.

I was in the market for someone who is familiar with structural bodywork and really knows their stuff. I didn't want a general deep tissue massage, I wanted a therapeutic session specific to my physical therapy needs. It takes a lot of experience and intuition to reach this level of expertise. I didn't even have to give Tricia much information, I just told her roughly where I have issues/tightness and she went to work and found all of the places that needed working out - and then some! Incredible and detailed work that was much appreciated and gave me much relief. Pricing is incredibly fair. Can't wait for my next session! Will definitely be going to her regularly from now on. In fact, I recommend him so much that I've sent my mom and several friends his way too. I originally came in for chronic tension and pain, and his detox massage has made a real difference for me. Calling it a massage almost undersells it. It's more of a full experience, he works in hot stones, cupping, and stretching along with the actual bodywork, and everything flows together in a way that leaves you feeling balanced from head to toe, not just loosened up in one spot. My honest advice: splurge and book 90 minutes or more if you can. The shorter sessions are good, but the extra time is what lets JJ really get to every part of your body and do his thing properly. You feel the difference.

As soon as the massage started, my phone accidentally went off (in silent mode but Mom is on bypass, OOPS!) so I jumped up naked lol, apologizing profusely and darting for my phone. Cindy just waved her hands and softly said "oh don't worry, don't worry".. Her technique is unique in that she incorporates these long, deep, VERY slow strokes which are so intentional and intuitive. She knows exactly how much pressure to apply to every inch of you, but she'll also ask just to be sure. I had extreme tightness from a motorcycle accident and I've never felt so loosened and relieved. She even straightened my neck hump a bit! Wow lol. We chatted a little about my injuries and her positive energy is both comforting and refreshing. I feel like she genuinely cares about your well-being. She even gave me a hug after I tipped her, such a doll! The prices here are reasonable AND I respect the fact that they need to raise prices but do so incrementally so people can afford to make appointments closer together. They've got a new monthly client now! Great business strategy imo. I want to mention the young professional at the front desk. . Friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. She's a keeper. The establishment itself is clean, cozy, peaceful and aesthetically pleasing.. Especially if you love plants. You can tell someone considers them their babies! I have been a licensed massage therapist for 30 years and have worked in a wide variety of…read moreprofessional massage settings. In three decades in this profession, I have never encountered anything quite like this. I had frequented this business repeatedly and had seen this particular therapist many times. I appreciated her work enough that I returned and booked a two-hour massage with her. I was subsequently informed that my appointment had been canceled because I did not "tip enough." Let that sink in. A gratuity is, by definition, voluntary. It is not part of the agreed-upon price of a service, nor should continued access to a therapist be contingent upon meeting some undisclosed expectation for additional compensation. If a business or therapist requires a particular amount above the advertised rate, then that amount should be reflected transparently in the price of the service--not enforced after the fact through cancellation of a returning client. Whether this reflects a management problem in which therapists are not being adequately compensated, or simply the expectations of an individual therapist, I cannot say. What I can say is that management apparently allowed a longtime returning client to be refused service because of an allegedly insufficient gratuity. As someone who has spent 30 years in this profession, I find that deeply unprofessional and contrary to the spirit of what gratuity is supposed to mean. For the record, I tipped 20% on my previous two-hour massage. But the amount is ultimately beside the point. I have treated countless people over the course of my career, some of whom tipped generously, some modestly, and some not at all. I have never "fired" a client because I decided their gratuity wasn't sufficient. Massage therapy is a professional service. Charge what your work is worth. Pay your therapists what their work is worth. But don't advertise one price and then quietly impose an unwritten financial test on clients afterward. After being a frequent customer of this business, I will not return.

I signed up for the premium monthly membership at Simply Massage Burke Williams because a friend of…read moremine is a massage therapist there, and I was genuinely excited about the value--$135/month for an 80-minute massage with a "complimentary upgrade" like deep tissue or sports massage sounded like a great deal. Unfortunately, my recent experience was really disappointing. Since my friend wasn't available, I booked with a different therapist and asked for the deep tissue upgrade. Before we started, I clearly explained that I'm a distance runner and was looking for something between a sports massage and deep tissue: focused work, but not the kind of super intense pressure that leaves you sore for days. The massage therapist was so nice and I really thought we were aligned. But pretty quickly, something felt off. It took me a while to realize what it was, but there was no music playing at the start of the session. The therapist didn't turn it on until 20-30 minutes in, which made the whole beginning feel awkward and not very relaxing. There were also some basic details that were missed. I had forgotten to put my hair up, and instead of helping manage it (like placing a towel over it, which most therapists do) my hair kept getting caught and falling onto my neck. Rather than addressing it, the therapist just avoided working on my neck altogether which is an area that really needed attention. As for the massage itself, the technique just didn't meet expectations. At times it felt like the therapist was attempting pressure point work, but without enough pressure to actually be effective. I did mention that I could handle more pressure, but there wasn't much adjustment. Overall, it didn't feel like a deep tissue or sports massage, more like a very light, unfocused session that didn't address what I had communicated beforehand. I left feeling frustrated and honestly pretty upset that I had used my monthly massage on an experience that didn't meet my needs. I typically tip 20-30%, but this time I only tipped 15% because of how disappointed I was. I ended up sitting in my car afterward and crying because I was so frustrated--both that the massage didn't help when I really needed it, and that I hadn't been more assertive in the moment. To their credit, when I reached out afterward, a manager named Jamal was kind and responsive. However, he said he wasn't local to the Marina del Rey location and would pass my concerns along. That was a week ago, and I haven't heard anything since. The lack of follow-up only adds to the frustration. Since I'm locked into a 6-month membership, I'll have to give it another try, but moving forward I'll likely only book with my friend and won't continue after my contract ends. Overall, this experience didn't match the level of quality or professionalism I expected from a place with Burke Williams' reputation.
