I have been to Abbots three times and each time I have received a wonderful massage. I'll be going back.

I was in the market for someone who is familiar with structural bodywork and really knows their stuff. I didn't want a general deep tissue massage, I wanted a therapeutic session specific to my physical therapy needs. It takes a lot of experience and intuition to reach this level of expertise. I didn't even have to give Tricia much information, I just told her roughly where I have issues/tightness and she went to work and found all of the places that needed working out - and then some! Incredible and detailed work that was much appreciated and gave me much relief. Pricing is incredibly fair. Can't wait for my next session! Will definitely be going to her regularly from now on. I feel lucky to have found her. Tricia is a gem.

She has a presence and lets the body guide her hands. rather than following a predetermined routine, she truly listens with touch. she lets the muscles, fascia, and breath guide her work. I leave feeling a renewed sense of balance, groundedness, and care. her integrity, empathy and mastery of her craft are evident. you will find no better than her!

A hidden gem and great little local spot. I agree, no frills, but quality work and the owner is a…read morelovely human. I have been going here consistently (2-4 times a month) for over two years for Thai style massage (stretching/walking/deep tissue), and have tried many of their therapists. They have consistently given me quality deep tissue massages (male and female therapists). I often come in with migraines, and very tight muscles (I'm a professional dancer), and the migraines are often gone by the end of the massage or day. I have tried many other places in town, and no other spot has consistently had great therapists that are so easy to book (I usually book same day 1-3 hours before). I tip well because I feel how much effort, and care they put in to their work. Thank you for cultivating a relaxed and wonderful place to heal complete with hardworking, talented, and knowledgeable therapists. I truly appreciate you guys! (Pro-tip: Don't sleep on Paísita next door - the Colombian café! After your massage try the empanadas with chimichurri and one of their signature drinks - yummy comfort food, and the place is a vibe!)

The therapist seemed either uncertified or unfamiliar with basic muscle and body anatomy. She applied very little pressure, moved around sporadically instead of focusing on specific areas or knots, and her nails kept digging into my skin. I also asked her not to massage my scalp because I had just come from the salon, but she did anyway. The checkout was also uncomfortable. I was actively sending a Venmo tip while exiting when the front desk employee stopped me to check whether it had gone through or if I had sent it.

Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's "meh," and then every once in a while you find the one and cling to them for dear life until they inevitably disappear into the void. (RIP to my former favorites Riddhi and Sessie. Sessi, if you're out there, I miss you and my shoulders miss you even more.) BUT. Today?? Today I hit the absolute jackpot. Andy. Let me just say: if massages were an Olympic sport, Andy would have multiple gold medals, a sponsorship deal, and a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman. I walked in feeling like a human knot. Not "a little tight," not "slightly sore"--no, I was basically a walking pretzel who had made several poor life choices. I walked out feeling like I had been gently reset to factory settings. Like...who authorized this level of transformation?? First of all, he LISTENS. I mentioned a couple of problem areas, and instead of doing the standard "nod and ignore," he actually focused on them like a highly trained muscle detective solving a crime. Every time I thought, "wow, that spot really needs work," he was already there, handling it like it personally offended him. Second--his technique?? Unfair. Illegal, even. The perfect balance of pressure, precision, and whatever sorcery he's clearly trained in. At one point I genuinely forgot what stress felt like. I may have briefly considered canceling all responsibilities and just living on that massage table forever. And the result? I floated out. Not walked--floated. I'm pretty sure I'm 30% lighter and 100% less cranky. Now here's the part where I struggle morally: I almost didn't write this review because I selfishly want to gatekeep Andy forever and keep his schedule wide open for me. But honestly...that feels illegal. The man is too good. The people deserve to know. Andy, if you ever leave, I will absolutely spiral and have to start this whole emotional journey over again. Please don't do that to me. 10/10. Life-changing. Book him immediately before he gets too famous and impossible to schedule... but like, respectfully, not before I get my next appointment.

I signed up for the premium monthly membership at Simply Massage Burke Williams because a friend of…read moremine is a massage therapist there, and I was genuinely excited about the value--$135/month for an 80-minute massage with a "complimentary upgrade" like deep tissue or sports massage sounded like a great deal. Unfortunately, my recent experience was really disappointing. Since my friend wasn't available, I booked with a different therapist and asked for the deep tissue upgrade. Before we started, I clearly explained that I'm a distance runner and was looking for something between a sports massage and deep tissue: focused work, but not the kind of super intense pressure that leaves you sore for days. The massage therapist was so nice and I really thought we were aligned. But pretty quickly, something felt off. It took me a while to realize what it was, but there was no music playing at the start of the session. The therapist didn't turn it on until 20-30 minutes in, which made the whole beginning feel awkward and not very relaxing. There were also some basic details that were missed. I had forgotten to put my hair up, and instead of helping manage it (like placing a towel over it, which most therapists do) my hair kept getting caught and falling onto my neck. Rather than addressing it, the therapist just avoided working on my neck altogether which is an area that really needed attention. As for the massage itself, the technique just didn't meet expectations. At times it felt like the therapist was attempting pressure point work, but without enough pressure to actually be effective. I did mention that I could handle more pressure, but there wasn't much adjustment. Overall, it didn't feel like a deep tissue or sports massage, more like a very light, unfocused session that didn't address what I had communicated beforehand. I left feeling frustrated and honestly pretty upset that I had used my monthly massage on an experience that didn't meet my needs. I typically tip 20-30%, but this time I only tipped 15% because of how disappointed I was. I ended up sitting in my car afterward and crying because I was so frustrated--both that the massage didn't help when I really needed it, and that I hadn't been more assertive in the moment. To their credit, when I reached out afterward, a manager named Jamal was kind and responsive. However, he said he wasn't local to the Marina del Rey location and would pass my concerns along. That was a week ago, and I haven't heard anything since. The lack of follow-up only adds to the frustration. Since I'm locked into a 6-month membership, I'll have to give it another try, but moving forward I'll likely only book with my friend and won't continue after my contract ends. Overall, this experience didn't match the level of quality or professionalism I expected from a place with Burke Williams' reputation.
