My surgery was a success, and although a significant amount of tissue had to be removed, I had very little pain afterward. He checked in with me regularly to make sure my healing was progressing well, and I always felt supported throughout my recovery. Betts, a frail 88 year old man, was admitted to Merced Medical Center for a severe ulceration on his foot. A podiatrist, Dr. James Huish, was the first treating doc and Huish brought in Dr. Adam as the second opinion and surgeon. Both insisted that the foot needed to be amputated ... immediately due to gas gangrene. Their alarming insistence led us to do look for and retain a qualified opinion from an orthopedic surgeon, Dr Mario Sablan. In the end, it was doctor Sablan who saved the foot from amputation by use of high powered antibiotics and special wound care. Doctors Huish or Adam showed little medical restraint, lacked good judgement skills and were horrible diagnosticians. Further, the two were truly ghoulish in their attempts to cause more harm than good.

Unfortunately, my experience with the office management was the complete opposite. I called several times to speak with the office manager, only to later find out she had already left for the day. The staff seemed unaware of her availability, which reflected poor communication within the office. I've also spoken with friends who have been seen at this office, and they shared similar frustrations about how difficult it is to get in contact with Manager Maira. I genuinely believe the office would benefit from management that leads with professionalism, compassion, and clear communication. The staff seemed to lack the support and guidance that strong leadership should provide, and I think the overall patient experience would improve significantly with better management. Because of this experience, I won't be recommending Valley River Orthopedics. Merced already has too few healthcare offices that consistently provide compassionate customer service, so it was especially disappointing to encounter this level of hospitality.

I was referred to Dr. Rowan, and I can honestly say that my experience with him and his team has completely changed the way I feel about going to the dentist. From the moment I walked in, his staff was incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly. The office itself was cozy, comfortable, and very clean. When I met Dr. Rowan, he was so kind and patient. He took the time to thoroughly explain my X-rays, point out my problem areas, and walk me through my options. Not once did he make me feel uncomfortable or rushed. I didn't have dental insurance, and I truly appreciated how understanding and accommodating he was in helping me explore my options. I ultimately decided to have two wisdom teeth extracted and chose to be put under anesthesia because my fear of the dentist is so severe that I experience uncontrollable shaking. The procedure went exactly as Dr. Rowan explained, and I am now on my second day of recovery. What truly stood out to me was that on the evening of my procedure, Dr. Rowan personally called to check on me, make sure I was doing okay, and ask if I had any questions or concerns. That small act of kindness meant more to me than he probably realizes. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Dr. Rowan and his wonderful team. You have no ideas how hard this process has been on me and my family. I was about to give up on fighting but Vanessa convince me to stay in the fight. I forwarded despicable disciplinary letter full of gross misrepresentations to the appropriate state agencies. ###################### Dr. Ibrahim Azer refused to schedule an aspiration at my visit January 2025 on my ganglion cyst at Mercy Dignity Medical Group Merced citing size only half cm when in fact is a half inch. Azer prefers surgery to remove cyst instead since that is more profit for Dignity Health Hospital and not medically necessary. In Medicare lingo this is called over utilization.
