08/04/1990 I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed on a Thursday afternoon. I was initially mortified after watching so many videos of people experiencing significant pain and swelling after similar procedures. However, my experience was completely different, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The procedure itself took about an hour. Beforehand, I asked about the medications I would be receiving, which included an opioid, antibiotics, and something for swelling. Since I'm not a fan of taking painkillers, I requested 800mg of ibuprofen instead. The assistant mentioned she would need to consult the doctor for approval, but I felt comfortable enough to discuss it directly with Dr. Mark Rowen. I shared my concerns about taking opioids, and he was very understanding, approving the ibuprofen as I requested. My appointment was at 1:30 PM, and by midnight, I was able to go to bed after taking just one ibuprofen as a precaution and to help with inflammation. I woke up at 6 AM the next day feeling great, with zero pain and hardly any swelling. I was even able to get several errands done, including speaking without any issues. I am thoroughly impressed with how well everything has turned out, especially considering how nervous I was before the procedure. I've only needed to take one 800mg ibuprofen along with my antibiotics every six hours, and I haven't experienced any significant pain or swelling. I haven't even had to ice my face! Dr. Rowan is an outstanding oral surgeon who covers multiple areas of health when he focuses on a patient's teeth. I have seen Dr. Rowan approximately four times, and each time, he goes above-and-beyond with his care. Dr. Rowan checks in on one's overall health, is kind and caring, and delivers almost pain-free and fast, yet careful dental surgeries. Recently, Dr. Rowan connected my cancer infusions with the dental surgery I was going to have, allowing me to choose a healthier outcome with the procedure while having to take chemotherapy drugs. His knowledge in so many areas make me always feel confident that I will receive the best care. The office staff and dental assistants are always upbeat and helpful. The office always has a calm atmosphere and is very clean. To top it off, Dr. Rowan did call me in the evening to check on my progress. He and his office are definitely top notch! read more

Steven Rowan is the best I've ever been to.I had one tooth pulled last year he numbed me and was talking to me and I didn't even know the tooth was out until I asked him when was he going to pull it out. Then today I got my wisdom teeth taken out and he told me step by step what he was going to do. And we engaged in conversation after he let me know what he was doing and I woke up my wisdom teeth were out and he gave me awesome instructions to take home. And he also checks up on you the same night. He's the best in Merced when needing to get any surgery done on your teeth. Very friendly as well as his staff he has in the office they're all so nice and answer all questions even if you've asked a million times they're still eager to answer it again. I fractured a tooth and needed it extracted. My dentist (Dr. Spencer Rowan) referred me to Dr. Steven Rowan. Both appointments (consultation and extraction) were positive experiences. The front desk staff and dental assistant were professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I had to reschedule the first appointment; doing so was easy. Dr. Steven Rowan has many years of experience and it shows. He is caring, empathetic and has a great sense of humor. He explained what the procedure entailed and possible (but unlikely) complications. I chose local anesthesia, which he did skillfully and quickly. The extraction was fast and painless. I got my wisdom teeth removed and I had a really good experience from the consultation to the surgery. The lobby was so cozy and welcoming, as well as the staff at the desk. Dr Steven Rowan explained how the surgery would go and showed me my X-rays and explained everything very thoroughly. When I went in for my procedure he did the iv so easy I didn't feel a thing. I took a nice nap and when I woke up with what felt like five minutes later .. my wisdom teeth were gone. I had little pain the rest of the day other than a tight jaw. If I could give 10 stars I would. My daughter had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled yesterday morning and by that evening she was up and acting like she hadn't had any procedure done at all. From start to finish, the office staff and Dr Rowan were very informative, attentive, friendly and thorough. This is my daughter's 3rd procedure in this office (the other 2 were to get a tooth to drop into position for her ortho needs) and my son had a procedure done last year. You couldn't ask for a better oral surgeon who cares deeply for his patience and the quality of care he gives. Dr. Rowan did my husband's wisdom teeth surgery and was a great asset through it all. We actually had Dr. Mark and he is so young and full of knowledge. We had a complicated case -- all were impacted and one was unable to be removed due to its location high in sinuses. He was honest and able to communicate that he would only take three: his safety and precautions were much appreciated. We had the dreaded "dry socket" complication due to no fault of the surgeon or our own. The office was great answering questions after hours, ensuring medication was given even though we live an hour away away, and offering follow up appointments. A++++++ across the board. Wow seriously the best dentist facility I've ever been too. The receptionist are extremely polite and professional. I called countless times with questions and concerns because of bad experiences in the past with different dentists. The staff were very positive and reassuring that dr Rowan would take care of me. The procedure I had were wisdom teeth extractions and dr Rowan and his assistant did an amazing job. Made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Those wisdom teeth were out before I knew it. Can't say enough GOOD about this office. From the front of the office staff, to the nurses, and Dr! My son had a secret hidden tooth that we didn't find until he was going to get braces. We were referred to Dr. Roman's office by our ortho, and I'm so thankful this is who they chose to remove the tooth. Dr. Rowan was refreshingly friendly and very confident, which as a mom of a preteen that's going to be put under, immediately put my mind at ease. Great service, wonderful staff, and caring dentist. Wife had implants in her upper jaw and teeth extracted by Dr Rowan. This week he placed her implants in an hour and half, he then wheeled her out personally to the car and assisted her in. He then gave me a report on the implants and after care she would need. He later called and 8:00 at night to personally check on her and if she needed anything. Couldn't recommend a more professional and caring office to have this work done. My wife and I have teeth and implants placed in the past and have never had a problem with Dr Rowan. Thanks and can't recommend your office enough. read more

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Dr. Steven Rowan and his staff. They are all very friendly, efficient, and professional. It made me feel like someone genuinely cared about me and what needed to be done. Dr. Rowan made his assessment and explained (in layman terms) what he found and what needed to be done. Arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early. I was taken back into the exam room right on time. I thought I was going in to have a tooth extracted but Dr. Rowan told me it was just for an exam but, he told me he would extract the tooth so I wouldn't have to make another trip. He explained everything in detail as he was working to remove my tooth. Office was very clean, staff was very efficient, my appointment was at 3:00 and I was out the door by 3:45. Dr Rowan staff was very pleasant and professional. They were also personable and spent time with us during our visit, it was like they knew us for years. Dr Rowan did the same. He was so friendly and informative. We never felt rushed once. After my son had his wisdom teeth removed Dr Rowan called to check up on him, I thought that was very nice. It has been four days and my son is doing well. He still has a little bleeding and swelling but that is normal. Honesty I can not think of one thing I'd change about his office. My daughter went in for consultation on a tooth extraction, and we were pleasantly surprised when the doctor stated he could take care of the baby tooth that was causing her pain, that morning. We were in and out of the office with in an hour, she had no pain during the procedure and the staff was excellent. Later that evening, we even received a phone call from the doctor checking on my daughter to make sure everything was OK and if we needed anything. I had a very pleasant experience while i was here to get my wisdom teeth out. The staff was very nice and answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. I do not like dental work and i am afraid of IV sedation and this office gave me the choice to stay awake durning the procedure. I was a patient for an extraction. The doctor and his staff displayed the upmost professionalism with my care from start to finish. Everything was clearly explained starting with the pre extraction information to the procedure itself and the follow up upon completion. Dr. Mark Rowan was quite the surprise! Very professional & detailed. He explains everything he's gonna plan on doing before starting anything. Making sure i understand fully down to the root. He went above & beyond when i mentioned to him i was having pain after wisdom extraction. It was on a saturday & office was closed, yet he asked to see if i could meet him at the office so he can take care of the pain! Mind you, it was father's day weekend.
