Office manager treats you like a piece of meat. I can not recommend this clinic at all. Very unprofessional.

I appreciated that he answered all of my questions and even asked me if I had any last minute questions right before the surgery. There are 3 simple patient rooms and a bathroom that is pretty clean. This space needs an upgrade, but that is on the plaza owners. Appointments: Always on time. Waiting is about 10 minutes or less. Being seen is less than 5 minutes, but so thorough, straight to the point and informative. Doc listens and answers all questions. Front desk and assistants are very quick and straight forward with instructions and appointment set ups. I appreciate the efficiency of everything from the whole team. It helps planning my day after the appointment very easy. Doctor: Miyata is very experienced, skilled, professional, talented, caring. He went into the right profession. He gives the best advice for his clients. He makes sure he has an assistant with him at every appointment to keep everyone accountable. He is always on top of his appointments and does his best to give the smallest incision possible for better healing. Surgery experience: From start to finish, it was wonderful. I have done 2 in office and 1 with anesthesia. Doc explains everything in details, every step of what he is doing. During the surgery, you feel no pain. My healing journey was great with very little to no scar. Everyone's healing journey will be different though, depending on your health. Overall: I trust Miyata with all my surgeries. Betts, a frail 88 year old man, was admitted to Merced Medical Center for a severe ulceration on his foot. A podiatrist, Dr. James Huish, was the first treating doc and Huish brought in Dr. Adam as the second opinion and surgeon. Both insisted that the foot needed to be amputated ... immediately due to gas gangrene. Their alarming insistence led us to do look for and retain a qualified opinion from an orthopedic surgeon, Dr Mario Sablan. In the end, it was doctor Sablan who saved the foot from amputation by use of high powered antibiotics and special wound care. Doctors Huish or Adam showed little medical restraint, lacked good judgement skills and were horrible diagnosticians. Further, the two were truly ghoulish in their attempts to cause more harm than good.

At each visit he listens to my questions and concerns and he takes the time to explain what to expect (in simple, plain language) and options. I have never felt rushed and have the greatest confidence in his skills as a surgeon. The staff is not friendly or engaging. They do the bare minimum. The feeling I'm left with is that I'm an inconvenience; even the nurse acts like she can't wait to get out of the room. It's not uncommon to call and immediately be put on hold without any greeting or acknowledgment. And if a message is left, the call is NEVER returned in a timely manner if at all. Also the voice message says they're on the other line even if their office is closed. Case in point, I had a knee manipulation done on Thursday midday. We live 1 hour 10 minutes away. On the way home, post procedure, I got a text that my pain meds were being filled in Merced. I immediately called the office and was put on hold as mentioned earlier. Eventually someone did pick up (which in my experience isn't always the case) and I explained my situation; have left Merced already and on my way home. Asked if they could transfer the rx to the pharmacy closer to my home. Was told they would look into it and get back to me. 3 hours later there was no response and their office was closing in 30 mins for the day. I started calling and my calls kept going to voicemail. By 5 pm I thought I would try to manage the pain as best as I could and call the next day. Called on Friday and kept getting the voicemail so I called the surgical center only to learn that Dr B's office was closed Friday for Juneteenth. This meant no pain meds until Monday at the earliest. Not a good situation. So I left a voice message asking to speak to the office manager Monday morning. And yes, the voice message said they were on the other line with another patient even though they were closed for the day. Monday morning came and went; no returned call so I called again after their lunch break. Spoke to the office manager who at no time acknowledged or apologized for my experience but was informed that they had a lot of messages to go through. What I would like for an outcome so that other patients don't experience this is the following: 1. Staff go through customer service training. 2. All calls answered with some sort of salutation before being put on hold. 3. All calls on hold are monitored and someone checking in occasionally to let the caller know they're aware of the wait. 4. Messages are triaged with more time sensitive calls (aka recent procedure) getting top priority. 5. Any patient who's had a procedure in the last 24 hours gets a response same day as their call with a description of next steps. 6. Change out of office message when closed. Also be aware that the office uses air fresheners. So be prepared if you have an olfactory sensitivity. Needless to say, once I finish up my appointments for this current recovery I'll be changing offices. And I'm 100% confident that this office won't care.

Well life happens and I didn't get to run into Merced and have surgery that week. I had to wait until my life allowed for it. He had NO IDEA what my life has been like for the last year. He never even bothered to even ask. He said he never told me I needed surgery which is a bold faced lie! I was there at my appointment last year and I'm sure I remember it better than he does!!! It was MY appointment and he sees a lot of people besides me I'm sure. After berating me for waiting so long, he finally said I need a new MRI. That's all he had to say in the first place instead of belittling me in the office like he did!! He had me on the verge of tears. He was a complete and total ass!! I will NEVER go back to this doctor again and I don't recommend him to anyone unless of course you like to be treated by someone who talks over you, doesn't listen to you, and tells you that you don't know what you're talking about in a very condescending manner. His office assistant was very nice but that's not enough to make me ever see this doctor again.
