The doctor and medical staff handled my surgery well, but the office management left a lot to be desired. When I first went in for my consultation, I was a bit shocked by the office manager, Crystal. Instead of properly greeting patients, she was yelling out names from behind a closed door. It felt unprofessional and off-putting, but I chose to overlook it and proceed with my surgery. My surgery was scheduled about three weeks later, and the procedure itself went smoothly. However, the real problem started afterward when I needed my prescribed pain medication. The pharmacy informed me that they didn't have my medication in stock and that, due to regulations, only the doctor's office could call around to find another pharmacy that carried it. When I contacted Crystal for help, she was dismissive and rude, telling me it wasn't their responsibility and that they had "other patients to deal with" before they could assist me. Keep in mind, I had just undergone surgery and was in significant pain, yet she told me it would take 1-2 days before she could even address my issue. This lack of urgency and compassion was beyond unacceptable. If an office is so overloaded that they can't properly care for post-op patients, that's a serious red flag. Thankfully, a kind pharmacist at CVS was willing to facilitate a three-way call with the doctor's office to explain the situation. Even then, Crystal remained rude and unprofessional--even toward the pharmacist. She did eventually call in my prescription, but without notifying me, and if it weren't for the pharmacist, I wouldn't have even known it was ready. The only positive interaction I had was with Jerry, the staff member who removed my stitches. He was kind, informative, and helped ease my frustration with the office. Unfortunately, dealing with Crystal was such a nightmare that I cannot in good conscience recommend this office to anyone. If you need surgery here, be prepared for unprofessionalism from the office management and an absolute lack of patient care once your procedure is done. If not for the doctor and a few kind staff members, this would have been a completely negative experience.

The week of my appointment last week I received multiple texts/calls to confirm my consultation appointment had a lot to arrange since we are coming from Los Banos & Im a full time mom to two small children so I have to arrange a sitter, that morning I received a call about a hour prior to my appointment that she needs to reschedule all of her appointments for that day (Friday 4/4/25) at the Merced location I was upset & asked to see if it was possible to see another surgeon but was told she is the only surgeon they have so I said ok to rescheduling I asked for the soonest availability or if any cancellation. I mentioned I live with chronic pain from my gallbladder needing to be removed, well I was able to reschedule the following week this week my rescheduled appointment was Thursday 4/10/25 at the Turlock location I received a call today Tuesday (4/8/25) stating that she is rescheduling all of her new patients further out! Wow unbelievable so save yourself the emotional distress.

I'm very picky of who cares for me & so a friend of mine highly recommended Dr. French to me. She had just had her gallbladder removed. So I asked my doctor to get me Dr. French instead of another surgeon. The entire staff at Dignity Health were so kind. A huge thanks to Michael, the nurse that took me in to prep me for surgery! As he talked to me he calmed all my fears and answered my questions. We had a couple laughs. So kind! Everything was easy to understand & it was a smooth process from filling out forms, to registration, to after surgery. I had some breathing issues after surgery & Dr. French had me come in right away. Checked me. Gave me what I needed & very caring. Calmed all my fears. Thank you Dr. French for everything!!

Dr. Kris Madhu and the staff were very informative, and very patient with answering all of my questions (I'm my mom's caregiver). Dr. Kris Madhu has an angel like gift for caring for his patients. He is sincere in helping provide care, compassion and empathy. My mom and me felt heard, again the Dr. and staff were so patient in truly helping understand what my mom was going through. Turns out my mom has a hiatal hernia, is very anaemic, and has an ulceration. Dr. Kris Madhu carefully informed us of my mom's condition, walked through next steps (CT Scan) (medications) and scheduled a follow up visit. It's a blessing to know that Dr. Kris Madhu and the entire staff create a consistent professional and caring environment for patients and their caregivers. I recommend anyone who is looking for a professional, experienced, knowledgeable and caring Dr, and staff, to make an appointment with Dr. Kris Madhu.

I responded saying that I've had this same information and have already contacted my healthcare company prior to today's visit to learn of the co-pay I would have which is typically $40 for this type of service; a bilateral mammogram. She continued to "educate me" on the "why" and "what" reasons and coverages set by my insurance, not the facility. She was still grossly incorrect in the information. She explained to me that I first have to satisfy my deductible and or maximum out-of-pocket limits Anthem set and that is the "why" the estimated out-of-pocket of $811.45 was accurate and that $800 of that amount is going to satisfy the deductible. I was already under stress, fear, and uncertainty about the dates radiological procedures because my paternal aunt just died of metastasized breast cancer which also engulfed her bones. So now I've got an employee lecturing me at length as to "why this information of $811.45 is absolutely correct as per my health insurance and the mandatory deductible due". I have a soft spot for this Emanuel Cancer Center and have been having my female health needs done here when I could go elsewhere. I have just always felt as safe as I could while here. I'm not going to stop coming here however just because of this unfortunate yet preventable business office fiasco but I would like to see this type of unnecessarily stressful situation become extinct. I think the worst of it is either the employee was disallowed to behave any other way or, incorrect training maybe? They could also reach out to leadership with Anthem BC and inform them of these unacceptable outcomes when inquiring for patient services. From my very first visit, he was incredibly kind, thorough, and took the time to truly understand what was going on with my knee. He performed an arthroscopic meniscusectomy, and the entire experience went incredibly well. Thanks to his skill, I am already walking completely free of discomfort and am finally able to get back to my active lifestyle. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Beauchman's care, and his support staff is equally wonderful--always encouraging, helpful, and welcoming. Unfortunately, my experience with the office management was the complete opposite. I called several times to speak with the office manager, only to later find out she had already left for the day. The staff seemed unaware of her availability, which reflected poor communication within the office. I've also spoken with friends who have been seen at this office, and they shared similar frustrations about how difficult it is to get in contact with Manager Maira. I genuinely believe the office would benefit from management that leads with professionalism, compassion, and clear communication. The staff seemed to lack the support and guidance that strong leadership should provide, and I think the overall patient experience would improve significantly with better management. Because of this experience, I won't be recommending Valley River Orthopedics. Merced already has too few healthcare offices that consistently provide compassionate customer service, so it was especially disappointing to encounter this level of hospitality.
