NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE!!! I would not recommend El Portal Imaging based on the repeated…read moreaccess-to-care issues my family has experienced. My mother cannot manage medical appointments independently, and relies on family assistance and transportation. I live in Los Banos and have to coordinate her care from out of town, including traveling to take her to appointments. Trying to schedule or cancel imaging with this facility has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The biggest issue is their phone system. When "all representatives are busy," the system disconnects the call instead of allowing patients or caregivers to leave a message or remain in a queue. I have called repeatedly and have been unable to reach anyone. This is not a one-time inconvenience; it has been an ongoing problem. I was also told that I may need to physically come to the facility just to schedule imaging appointments. That is an unreasonable expectation for patients who cannot drive, rely on caregivers, or use assisted transportation. Requiring a separate trip just to schedule an appointment creates a major barrier to care. This is not just poor customer service. It interferes with timely access to medically necessary imaging. Patients should not have to fight a broken phone system or travel in person simply to make, change, or cancel appointments. Because this has been a repeated issue, I will be reporting the access-to-care concerns to the appropriate oversight agencies, insurance plan, and patient relations/administration. Families dealing with serious medical concerns should not have to work this hard just to get someone on the phone.

Years ago, I would have rated El Portal Imaging as very good, at least for MRIs. Then year or so…read moreago, I called to make an appointment for an X-ray. I was given an appointment, which was needed as I am disabled and have to book my transport to and from locations. When I got to El Portal I was told it was "first come, first served" with a full waiting room. Obviously I was lied to on teh phone. Most recently, I had a referall for an MRI. Nothing happened. When I called, I was passed to billing who spent over an hour on a conference call wthat included my insurance carrier. They promised to get back to me within 3 days. Nothing. I called and was put through to teh suupervisor only to iinitially be put through the same rigamarole. I insisted on getting an appointment. I was told I would get one within 48 hours. Nothing. Several calls to the facility went unaswered. I don't know what is going on with this facility, but getting lied to by staff and supervisors, and now even failing to answer the telephone, suggested something has gone very wrong with this facility, which is the major imaging facility in Merced Country. If you are able to use another facility, I strobgln recommend you do so.

Journal entry: February 15th, 2024…read more First-time here at Precision Imaging... I have been plagued by chronic lower & upper intestinal and internal organ pain for @least 7 years now....... & ............ Counting, unfortunately, and that has gone undiagnosed for just as long if not longer in all truthfulness... Today's visit, is all about, confirming whether or not, there is a "Paraesophageal Hernia present in my body". My future surgeon, Dr. Antonio Coirin, MD, whom my Mother & I met earlier in this week, informed me that I did NOT have this type of Hernia, but that he'd like to have just one more diagnostic done and that was a "FLUOROSCOPY & ESOPHAGRAM", performed, outside of his office..... (Clear copy of the actual procedural Doctors order for Precision Imaging downloaded to this Yelp! review. Good News, is that they scheduled it for the very next day however, Mom & I were so exhausted from the round-trip commute to the office, and the disappointing medical news received, because, we don't reside in Modesto and the reality of the situation (was sinking in for us both) which was looking rather grim at least............................................ A little detour here now... I have photo's uploaded to this Yelp! review detailing all that I am journaling here... It just feels more complete & explanatory to me........................... This office is expansive! There are multiple long hallways that were clean and professional as was the flooring in ALL areas of this medical professional office. Nice, attractive & soothing is their choice of coloring on the walls of the hallways; welcoming ..... There is "pride" in ownership, here, and it is welcoming once you get past the "eager" ladies at the front desk............... Changing Rooms for the females (sign on the door lists it as a female-only room. As I was mentioning, this changing room where you may or may not need to remove clothing and don a gown. I had to loose the clothing but was able to keep my shoes and socks on; everything else; had to go. I'd rather keep all my clothing on but understand with "radiological procedures", the need to have ZERO metallic and/or cumbersome items not be copesetic with the diagnostics that are ordered. If your a tad-on-the-cool-side, as in body temperature you may consider wearing some heavy sock and heavy underwear. I wasn't frozen, but I was a bit chilled once the procedures began................................................. So if a male patient is looking for services here you may want to reach out to the office by phone & inquire as to that. In the end, I drank a total of 4 large containers of barium in-order to complete the Esophagram (Defined by the National Cancer Instituge (.gov) as: (ee-SAH-fuh-gram) A series of x-ray pictures of the esophagus taken after a patient drinks a liquid containing barium sulfate (a form of the silver-white metallic element barium). The barium sulfate coats and outlines the inner wall of the esophagus so that it can be seen on the x-ray pictures. & Fluoroscopy (Defined by the CDC, Centers of Disease Control, U.S.A. is: "Fluoroscopy is a medical procedure that makes a real-time video of the movements inside a part of the body by passing x-rays through the body over a period of time. X-rays are a form of ionizing radiation." (address for this reference is as follows: https://www.google.com/search?q=fluoroscopy+defined&oq=fluoroscopy+defined&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIKCAEQABgPGBYYHjIICAIQABgWGB4yDQgDEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgEEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgFEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgGEAAYhgMYgAQYigXSAQk3MzA2ajBqMTWoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 The MD was super professional & nice! The radiology staff (2 people) were professional and serious; borderlining nervous. Have clue not 1 as to why they may have potentially nervous, I am a watcher so I pay attention........ And then it was over & done with! Didn't feel nauseated from all the barium and was instructed more than once to drink plenty of water so as to not get constipated from the barium.... So far so good as today it's now 24 hours after-the-fact and besides having pretty painful cramping, diarrhea & lower bowel pain, I feel just fine. I'm being serious, I do ;)....... The parking lot is very spacious with enough empty slots for parking. We are both disabled; me and my Mother, but we didn't see many Disability Parking Slots around. That was disappointing..... I am planning on refreshing with updates this Yelp! Business Review since we have 5-weeks of DAILY Radiation to prepare for & execute to completion..... Prayer's are always welcome and we are both Baptized & Communion Complete Catholics; I hope this review aids you in healthy ways..... Sincerely, ~Jana Leigh Thomas :) Sr. Yelper! :)

I would not normally go to the ER when an Urgent Care clinic is open and appropriate for my…read morecondition. In this case, however, I needed to be evaluated because I believed a fish bone was stuck in my throat and I was experiencing pain when swallowing. I want to clarify that I did not mind waiting for four hours. I understood that my condition was not life-threatening and that patients with more urgent needs had to be prioritized. I was triaged in a timely manner, and I saw how hard the nurses were working to care for multiple patients. I truly appreciate their efforts. What I hope management can look into is why my overall stay lasted four hours and whether some of that time could have been avoided. The doctor saw me approximately one hour after triage but was unable to visualize the fish bone. The X-ray also did not show it, although I continued to feel that something was lodged in my throat and had pain with swallowing. After the evaluation, I believe I could have been discharged sooner if my pain medication had been delivered and administered promptly. My room could then have been made available to another patient who appeared uncomfortable and may have needed the space more urgently. Perhaps the medication/pharmacy delivery process could be reviewed to determine whether there was an unnecessary delay. Even a relatively small delay can add significant time to an ER visit, especially when the patient is otherwise ready to be discharged. I would also like to give special recognition to Nurse Rose and the admitting clerk. Both were compassionate, caring, and attentive. They checked on me, made sure I was okay, and asked if I was comfortable while I waited. Their kindness made a positive difference in my experience. Overall, I understand that the ER must prioritize patients according to the seriousness of their conditions, and I have great respect for the nurses and staff who work under those circumstances. My feedback is not about the four-hour wait itself, but about identifying opportunities to improve the process--particularly medication delivery and discharge--so that patients who are ready to go home can do so sooner, while treatment rooms can be made available for those who need them. Thank you for taking my feedback into consideration.
