I was lucky enough to have a friend invite me to the concert yesterday and even luckier to be viewing it from a prime suite at the HP Pavilion. All I can say is - AMAZING!!! He has such a beautiful voice. I have loved his music since I heard , "Time to Say Goodbye ("Con te partir"), his duet with Sarah Brightman on his 1997 Romanza CD.
He is currently on tour to support the release of his first-ever greatest hits CD, The Best of Andrea Bocelli Vivere. The concert was a mix of operatic arias, tenor songs and a few of the crossover-pop hits. I have to admit that I am more a fan of the pop hits. His duets (The Prayer, Canto della terra and Time to Say Goodbye) with Heather Headley were beautiful. She has a spectaular voice. He also sang with Soprano Daniela Bruera and Baritone Luis Ledesma. The only drawback of the evening was that they weren't even handing out programs. If they were, we didn't see anyone handing them out. We saw some vendors selling a souvenir book. Even in our suite, we had to ask for copies of the program, which were brought to us during the intermission. There were no subtitles on the screens and printed texts available, so you were kind of left in the dark as to what the meaning was of every word he sang. The programs gave you a synopsis, but I still prefer my subtitles (I know some of the opera snobs find this to be vulgar). All in all, it was a fabulous evening listening to a man blessed with a truly beautiful and amazing voice. read more
