For our 2-hour City Hall wedding, it was honestly perfect. It really fills up the space and makes everything feel a lot more grand and special without feeling over the top. The Wife had her half-century birthday coming up during a pandemic. Which, as you can imagine, causes some challenges in the planning of an event worthy of such a milestone. I was hosting a COVID-safe outdoor English Tea, and a DJ yelling "Throw yo' hands in the air like you don' care, YEET!" was just not going to cut it. The Wife and I had attended an English Tea in the Dorchester in London; we needed elegance for this one. I found Corelli Strings on Yelp and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so I looked further on their Instagram and saw that they were really talented. I sent an email and Midori responded to me quickly. Many musicians approach the business aspects of an event like...musicians. Not so with Midori. I'm a project manager and I was really impressed with her responsiveness, contract terms discussion, and event planning. Their repertoire is several pages of classical standards as well as contemporary songs, it was like looking at a karaoke song book and not being sure which songs to pick (there were a lot of wedding songs, if you're curious). If you had a special request, with sufficient notice and an extra fee, they'll learn it for you. They have venue requirements (temperature, seating, shade) clearly described. I sent a song list and rough agenda, leaving some time for them to play musicians choice, she was very flexible. The cost was competitive with industry standards. The day of the event came. The trio arrived on time, masked up, and dressed appropriately. We set up their station very quickly and they started precisely at the start time. I'm a musician with enough talent for amateurs to think I'm professional, and professionals to think I need to practice more. So I'm really familiar with all the ways you can screw up a public performance. I was a little disappointed that I didn't hear any mistakes of significance. There were no lapses in timing or intonation (that I heard, anyway); I mean they were tight. They also had very clever arrangements of the modern songs with excellent harmony and polyphonic counterpoints. This was the first event that most of the attendees attended in the last year, and everyone was so delighted to have someone to talk with besides their family and the walls surrounding them. For that reason our crowd wasn't clapping often between songs, and I was sad that the trio didn't get to hear all of the compliments that were said behind their backs. 'Game of Thrones' was a favorite, although I'm not sure I would pick that one for a wedding. They completed their set at the agreed time, and the crowd finally offered the applause they deserved throughout the event. They said their goodbyes and packed up quickly and efficiently. So if you need musicians for your wedding or any other event, Midori and her team will meet and exceed any need you have, and entertain you with talent, elegance, and grace. read more

We booked a string trio for our wedding this year. To start, Midori was very easy to communicate and work with. She was also very responsive via email which I definitely appreciated. It was a very easy booking process and there was minimal back and forth. We had about a week before our wedding to finalize our song list. We also chose some pretty unconventional songs for the precession (Game of Thrones theme some), for when the bride walked down the aisle (Love Story by Taylor Swift) and the recession (Star Wars theme song). Personally didn't love our choice in this group for our wedding; it didn't feel like they took the job very seriously. They asked if they had to stay the whole time at the end when there were 15 minutes left to go, their arrangement of the songs we chose like for our first dance was not very good and no one could even recognize it. One of the cool things about City Hall is how the music echoes through the building, and even though my partner and our bridal party were waiting separately from our guests before the ceremony we could still hear all our song choices from the hallway we were waiting in.
