I cannot say enough how much I love my wedding day and Daphna and Bruce were certainly a big part of it. I knew exactly that I wanted to walk down the aisle to a violin playing in the background. There's something about live music, especially strings that add so much elegance and romance to the setting. For the most part, I worked only with Daphna from beginning to end. Bruce showed up ready to go at the wedding. Daphna was very professional and so pleasant to work with from the get go. Our process consisted of an initial meeting, which was a phone call in our case, and a final phone call closer to the wedding day to finalize music selections. We were not only limited to these 2 meetings, she was also available in between those times if we had any questions and she was always very responsive. Her vast knowledge in music was helpful when we couldn't decide for our recessional song. Additionally, she was more than willing to listen to our ideas and learn new music if needed. Her years of experience showed in the way she handled our questions (lots of it) and the outcome of our ceremony. I still get chills when I reflect back standing in my bridal room waiting to come out and I hear Daphna and Bruce start to play Pachebel's Canon in D. I couldn't be happier and I'm so happy I found them! read more

I was pretty set on having a string quartet play during my wedding ceremony. But I had contacted a couple and after a few emails, they stopped responding, so my mom (who was helping me plan my wedding) took to Yelp to do some searching. Along came Music by Daphna. Daphna was extremely prompt in answering the first emails, and met with us in her home to go over what I wanted. My wedding was in a church, but my husband and I don't have a traditional, romantic, lovey-dovey relationship, so I didn't want that kind of music. I had very specific ideas about what I wanted, and Daphna assured me the music I wanted would be beautiful and that she and her partner Bruce would learn any songs I wanted, as long as they thought they could do them justice with just the violin and guitar duo. I chose my songs in early March, and then about a month before the October wedding, I had a revelation and wanted something totally different - I emailed Daphna and she was more than willing to work with me. I chose modern songs that reflected my personality and the relationship I have with my family, my bridal party, and mostly, my husband. Our mothers were seated to "Nine in the Afternoon" by Panic! At The Disco (I had originally chosen "Cocoon" by Jack Johnson) Our bridal party processed to "God Only Knows What I'd Be Without You" by the Beach Boys (I had originally chosen the theme from the God Father) I walked in with my father to "Everlong" by The Foo Fighters Our recessional was "That's Amore" by Dean Martin & "The Tarantella" Everyone remarked at how lovely the music was, and how much it fit our lives together and my personality. I would hire Daphna to do my wedding again in a heart beat! She was everything I expected and SO MUCH MORE! If you're at a loss for finding someone for you wedding, cocktail hour, or anything in between, you should definitely meet with you. I'll be looking for an excuse to hire her in the future! read more

We just had our wedding almost two weeks ago in Saratoga, CA at Villa Montalvo! The day was spectacular and everyone commented on how beautiful the scenery and the music was. I asked Daphna if they could include music from my favorite TV show GLEE called 'Halo/Walking on Sunshine' which was a mash-up of Beyonce's Halo R&B and some 80s song Wakling on Sunshine pop rock. I wasn't sure if it could be pulled off but I wanted to try and they were game for it. They were very encouraging to trying out new songs and worked with the materials that was out there on YouTube and other current media to figure out 'Halo/Walking on Sunshine' and it was such a hit! I love the unexpected twist and fresh ending to our ceremony when we walked away and we received a few comments from music-o-philes and gleeks on how wonderful it was that they could play that song! We also asked that they include "The Beautiful Jasmine" which was a very traditional ancient folklore song and they did an amazing job. It was very touching for the elders in our families to hear that song at the wedding. We really appreciated how they were willing to learn new songs and to make it reflect our taste in an Asian-friendly wedding while pulling off some fun with a Glee song! Plus they were super organized and super responsibe on email. Always important when planning for a wedding! And they were the sweetest too! We got a lovely card from them on our wedding! Awww! :-) And they were patient! Our wedding ran a bit late (like probably half an hour over) and they were very accommodating and worked with the shifted schedule and were just lovely lovely! read more

Daphna and Bruce played at our wedding this past weekend and they were amazing!! In preparation for the wedding, Daphna was very helpful in helping us find songs that we would like and working out how everything would flow. They also learned to play a song I had requested specially for while I walked down the aisle with my dad. They played for our ceremony and cocktail hour and were a hit! Our guests loved them, and they got super excited when they played the Game of Thrones theme song. Daphna and Bruce, thank you so much for making our day special! read more

Daphna and Bruce played at our Jewish/Catholic wedding and they were amazing. They played Jewish songs and classical for processional, Ave Maria for the interlude, and a folk song for the recessional. So we had really a mix of everything, but Daphna and Bruce did such an amazing job with each genre. You can find Daphna singing Ave Maria on youtube and she is just as good in person. Working with Daphna was great. She sent a long list of suggested songs that we could pick from, and they even learned some new songs at our request. Daphna was so flexible, agreeing to talk with us at 8pm since that was the only time that worked for us, and she was so pleasant to talk to. read more

Daphna is fantastic!!! She's really sweet and she is really about getting to know the couple which I liked a lot. The music was beautiful for preceremony, ceremony and cocktail. My wedding was a romantic comedy movie theme and Daphna was able to tie the whole theme together. I asked if she could play "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge for me, and she actually learned how to play the song just for me. Additionally, for you golfers out there, my now husband wanted to have The Masters theme song for when the parents walked up the aisle. Daphna not only learned one song for us but two, and they played them both perfectly. I highly recommend Music by Daphna. THANK YOU DAPHNA! read more

Words cannot express how amazing Daphna & Bruce are! We hired Daphna & Bruce for our wedding and their violin/guitar duo made our day more beautiful than we ever imagined. Working one on one with Daphna was such a pleasure. Her communication is impeccable and she makes sure she creates and performs exactly what you want. Daphna & Bruce learned songs that we requested and then performed them as if they have been playing them for years! To learn the theme song to "Game of Thrones" in a short amount of time and then perform it perfectly, is pure talent! :) We are still getting compliments about their music from friends and family! If you are a looking for musicians to make ANY event beautiful, memorable, and unique, please look no further! Thank you Bruce and Daphna once again for helping to make our special day unforgettable! read more

We hired Music by Daphna for our wedding in February of 2013 in San Francisco and very much enjoyed working with Daphna and her husband throughout the planning and the big day. They were very professional and friendly. They even learned our favorite song to walk down the aisle to, and helped us pick out music for the intro and commencement. I would highly recommend Music by Daphna if you want beautiful and elegant wedding ceremony music. read more

We hired Music by Daphna for our wedding in April 2014 in Sacramento. We truly enjoyed working with her. She's very accommodating, professional, and sweet. She comes prepared to discuss all your music needs, with a wide range of song options. She was very helpful in selecting the songs for the ceremony and was open to learning a song if needed. Daphna was very responsive and respectful of church rules as well. I'm sure it was challenging to work with a Vietnamese choir in tandem, but they handled it very well. Her prices were fair for the experience you get too. Overall, everyone enjoyed the music! The violin/guitar duo was beeeeauuutifully played at the church ceremony. Loved their renditions of "In My Life" and "Rainbow Connection" during our processional. Be careful though, as the acoustic magic might get you all happy-teary! :) I would recommend Music by Daphna in a heartbeat! read more

I highly recommend Music by Daphna. From the initial contact emails, through to the performance itself, every step of the way was courteous and professional. They are a very talented duo, and with an artist's sensibility, they provided just the right atmosphere and ambiance for our event. They really went out of their way to be accommodating, and I would definitely hire them again. read more

Daphna has been by far the WORST vendor I've dealt with for our upcoming wedding. She is completely unprofessional and should not be operating any sort of business. She backed out of our agreement despite verbal and written commitment. She tried to pressure us to sign her contract by telling us she had other parties interested in our date. She offers no discounts for cash or full upfront payment and does not allow you to pay with credit card. She is a terrible communicator, she took 3 days to respond to emails and most times instead of responding she would call at inappropriate times and leave 3 minute long voicemails. I asked her very basic questions about discounts and providing shade which is required in the contract. Instead of answering these questions, she backed out of the agreement. I'm glad she will not be playing at our ceremony as she exudes negativity. read more

Daphna and her partner were hired for my wedding ceremony. My guest were blown away by her voice as she sang Ave Maria. Also, she understood my personality and was able to build a strong music choice. My favorite part was that she played "halo" by Beyoncé as my now husband and I said our I do's. Thank you Daphna for your great service! read more

We had Bruce and Daphna perform violin and guitar for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. The music was great, she had a bunch of songs to choose from, and with time can potentially learn new songs. Luckily the songs we were interested were part of their list. The music was great. Daphna was very approachable, and very helpful in ensuring that things went as smoothly as possible. All "business" was taken care before the wedding date, so it was nice to have one less thing to worry about on the big day. I'm glad I decided to go with live music for the ceremony, it definitely added a special element to my wedding. The price was very reasonable. I love that they are there to make your day special and it wasn't just about business. I will definitely recommend them for live music for any friends and family who are interested in the future. They were wonderful and play beautifully!! read more

My mother-in-law re-married yesterday, and my wife and I hired Daphna and Bruce to provide music for the wedding at our home in Campbell, CA. We had seen Daphna and Bruce play at Regale Winery in Los Gatos, and they were fabulous there as well. We contacted Daphna to check availability, and she was available at the date and time we needed. She provided a very reasonable quote, and sent us a contract. A few weeks before the wedding, she came to our home and met with my wife and mother-in-law to review the details. She was very pleasant and professional. On the day of the wedding, she and Bruce arrived on-time and setup promptly. They provided music as the guests arrived, wedding procession music, festive music at the ceremony concluded, and fun danceable music during the reception. They amplified their music, and it was just the perfect volume. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful, appropriate and fun the music was. Daphna really understood how to read the crowd and tailor the musical selection accordingly. I would highly recommend Daphna and Bruce to provide classy music to any event, and I would certainly hire them again. read more

Daphna and Bruce was wonderful to work with! The duo played beautifully for our outdoor wedding at the Mountain Winery. They were able to play all the songs we requested for the ceremony and even learned a new song for free, which I walked down the aisle to. They also played while my sister in law sang during our sand ceremony. It was really wonderful. We told them what type of music we wanted for the cocktail hour and everyone was pleased with the music. They kept the party alive and upbeat. Daphna and Bruce showed up on time to set up and also cleared out quietly without any interruptions. I had forgotten to pay her that day due to all the chaos. She kindly reminded me and patiently waited for my check to come to her by mail. We also received a lovely card from them after the wedding, which was very thoughtful! I would recommend Music By Daphna to anyone. They were easy to work with and were reasonably priced. Thank you Music by Daphna! Best, Joyce & Len Kandt read more

Daphna was so wonderful! I chose them to perform at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and they did a terrific job. Daphna was very nice, reasonably priced, professional, classy, responsive, talented and helpful. She offered to talk via phone and meet in person, but for us, a phone call was all we needed. She offered to learn any songs we wanted with a 3-4 week notice and we asked her to learn Aloe Blacc - The Man when my husband walked down the aisle (ha!) it was great and they did the strings so well. They know many of the traditional songs and a long list of modern songs as well. We really enjoyed working with them. P.S. I wouldn't want to work with the guy below either :) It's the ONLY review that isn't 5 stars, so that should tell you something. read more

Having Daphna and her partner perform at our wedding was truly and incredible gift! Throughout the entire wedding planning process, Daphna made herself available for contact when I needed her, which is a big help to an anxious bride who needed to make what felt like a million decisions per day! For our wedding, she was extremely helpful in creating a format for me to understand and follow, and she was willing to be honest about the way they would perform. They played during my ceremony and cocktail hour, and my guests could not stop raving about it! Everyone especially enjoyed their version of "Everlong" by The Foo Fighters :) thank you so much for all your hard work and the beautiful gift you gave us that day!! read more

Daphna is a wonderful musician! She is easy to talk to and reach, and is very personable. I had asked her to learn a song for me ("On Eagles Wings") and Daphna (and Bruce on guitar) played it beautifully in my wedding ceremony. The rest of my song choices were taken from her extensive song list which fit seamlessly into my ceremony and cocktails. The music was everything to the success of the wedding and my guests were moved by it. I wouldn't give any second thoughts to hire Daphna and Bruce. They are amazing! read more

I hired Daphna and Bruce for my son and daughter-in-law's reception back-ground music. They were fantastic! People even asked who they were the next day. One person said they never thought of having a violin and guitar together, but of course it is delightful music. The reception was a perfect event. The guests were dazzled. Daphna and Bruce played at our wedding in Big Sur, and we can't stress how great they were to work with and how much we loved their music! We had the pleasure of having Daphna and Bruce play at our wedding-- they played beautifully and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Planning a wedding is a lot of stress, and Daphna was incredibly professional and on top of everything. We looked at A LOT of wedding musicians, and these two really stuck out as sounding the best. The classic guitar and violin sounds beautiful together, and they both have OUTSTANDING voices and play a wide variety of songs for both the ceremony and the cocktail party following. They learned 2 new songs for our wedding, which they performed beautifully, making our day that much more special and unique for us. We got TONS of compliments from our guests. Not only are Daphna and Bruce amazing Musicians, but they are also wonderful people. They played at our wedding last month and last summer at my Sister in law's wedding. We had a Jewish/Catholic wedding ceremony and they did a great job playing songs that incorporated both of our religions and threw in some of our favorite Beatles songs! The music was beautiful and made our day so special. This was by far one of my favorite wedding appointments. Daphna made the whole process so simple and even asked me for my event coordinators phone number so she could arrange all the details with her personally. She made me one happy bride. read more

Working with Daphna and Bruce for our wedding music was a great experience! Daphna helped us with all of the song choices and timeline of the ceremony. She had great advice and was very experienced in putting everything together. After we met with her a few weeks before the wedding we felt at ease knowing that everything was figured out. We had Daphna and Bruce learn a song for us and they did with no problem, it made our day to have that special song playing while I walked down the isle!! We got many compliments on the music, saying that it was so unique and beautiful. We had them choose which songs to play during cocktail hour because we trusted that they would do a great job - and they sure did. Daphna and Bruce played at our wedding and cocktail reception. Daphna was a pleasure to work with from the first email I sent to her. She was always prompt with replies and never pushed us to do anything. She had suggestions for what music to play when and even learned a couple of tunes for the wedding. They were on time, played extremely well in a somewhat challenging venue, and most of all, our guest absolutely loved them!! Highest praise for this duo, forget about looking around and shopping for other musicians, hire these wonderful people!! read more

I am writing this review based on my many musical experiences with Daphna Rahmil and Bruce Barley - as a duo and as individual performers. I first met this charming duo at an Open Mic at the Essanay Café in Niles several years ago, where they blew the crowd away with their beautiful voices, ringing guitar/violin, and thrilling harmonies. Since that initial encounter, I have seen them perform dozens of times and each time they display extreme professionalism (ALWAYS well prepared) and have a wonderful rapport with the audience - leading singalongs when appropriate and playing softly in the background when necessary. I highly recommend both performers for any event - you will not be disappointed with their cover of jazz standards, pop classics, originals, and moving instumentals! read more

From our first meeting with Daphna, we knew that we wanted to hire her and Bruce to play at our outdoor summer wedding. And we're so glad we did! Daphna and Bruce are accomplished musicians, and their violin/guitar duo went perfectly with our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were familiar with our venue (Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park). Daphna is very organized and easy to work with, making it a seamless process. They know many standards (both classical and pop), and also learned a new song for my walk down the aisle. Daphna recommended, rather than providing a specific list of every single tune they should play, that we give them some general guidelines of songs we like (and don't like) and they would take care of the rest. That was music (literally!) to a busy bride's ears. I had absolutely no worries working with Daphna and Bruce, and they provided a lovely soundtrack to our wedding. Thanks again! read more

Daphna and Bruce recently played at our wedding on 6/11/16 at Nestldown, during the ceremony and cocktail hour. They came highly recommended by the venue, so we reached out to them and are SO grateful we did! I still get butterflies when I remember hearing the song I had listened to on repeat for many months off of Daphna's website (Train's "Marry Me") begin to play as I walked down the stairs. It was far more beautiful in person, which was hard to believe because it sounds so good on the website! I got tons of compliments on the ceremony music! For me, the music sets the tone for the ceremony, and it was truly magical. Daphna was a dream to work with. She is willing to learn new songs, however, we took songs from her playlist (she has a great variety!) We spoke a few weeks before the wedding about final ceremony songs and by that point, I was so burnt out with decision making, I didn't want to even think about cocktail hour music. Not to worry, Daphna said she would come up with a playlist and gauge the crowd to see what they seem to like and respond to best! I knew I was in good hands. I came out to the cocktail hour, and saw people swaying to the music and chatting, and really enjoying themselves. It was perfect. Thank you, Daphna and Bruce!! You helped make our wedding day amazing, and we are so grateful! read more

Daphna and her partner Bruce Barley performed at my wedding on New Year's Eve. It turned out that the ceremony was my husband and I's favorite part of the wedding. The music they played set just the right mood, exactly what I was looking for. Daphna sang Ave Maria and it was so beautiful - truly a highlight of the ceremony. Following the ceremony, she and Bruce also played for the cocktail hour. They quickly transitioned and livened the pace for the occasion, creating a more spirited and fun - but sophisticated and relaxed - atmosphere. Daphna and Bruce dressed for the occasion and they both looked smashing. My experience of Daphna was professionalism all the way. She was responsive, straight forward, and organized. I didn't need to do anything on the day (like answer questions or organize things for them) they were on it. Daphna even helped me get more organized. She is also very personable and a lovely, caring person. No hesitation what so ever recommending Music by Daphna. You'll be lucky to have her perform for you and make your occasion special. read more
