Great performers, very questionable business ethics. In a back and forth with emails and schedule changes, the guy in charge - Jorge - never raised any flags about time conflicts when they were given the schedule for my brother's wedding in order to bill for a time they are sitting idle for an hour before guests are scheduled to arrive. When my father and I had a talk with him he was showing us the back and forth and trying to misinterpret ny brothers language to my dad who is not a native English speaker - trying to pull an extra $200 for a PA that was not brought by them - only a scum bag would try to take advantage of someone's language barrier. I'm glad I was present because other wise my dad would've handed money over for equipment not brought/used for their performance and I could see this guy got annoyed at my interjection, and suddenly acting he was doing us a favor by not billing the $200.00 - of course when they packed up, they didn't haul a speaker with them. GO FIGURE. Make sure you document everything well, and don't let their snake tongued ring leader try to pull a fast one over the person who hired them/handling payment. When he was trying to show us emails as back up he would conveniently scroll over dozens of threads until he showed a single one-reply email to back up what he was claiming. I appreciate Mariachi Esteler for coming & performing at my wedding in June, it was very important to us & our families. Although I am quite disappointed! We couldn't really hear them as they didn't use a microphone, so was difficult to truly enjoy. In addition, I had to pay an extra $$$ fee just for them to wear there sombreros. Sombreros are traditional! That was the first time in our experience having to pay extra, not only that they only wore them for 30min! I understand the hats can be heavy/hot, although that is why I'm paying extra for you to wear them... not extra to maintenance them. Mariachi Estelar ("ME") lives up to its name, they are truly stellar! I hired ME to play at my daughter's quinceanera last week and they were simply phenomenal. More than half the guests had never been to a quinceanera nor heard a mariachi. I hired the mariachi with 10 musicians to play (they even brought a harp!) and they sounded so good, the singers and musicians were always on key, had great technique, and exuded such confidence. Jorge, the band leader and contact person, was very responsive and jumped through various hoops the venue demanded of my vendors, including signing a Vendor Agreement and procuring a Certificate of Insurance. ME played the songs I asked them to play, they came dressed in beautiful outfits that matched the venue color (gold), had a sharp, professional demeanor at all times and stayed on schedule! They made me feel so proud of my Mexican culture/heritage, and my guests could not stop raving about how good they were. They made the party feel like a truly elegant Mexican celebration. Five stars doesn't even come close to rating how fabulous this band really is! Jorge and his band of talented musicians are amazing to say the least! I am so happy that I was able to book them for my dad's surprise birthday party! In the month leading up to the event, Jorge was very professional and communicative with all the adjustments that were made. In order to book, them I had to adjust the hours that they would play in order for them to have enough time to commute to their next event and to ensure that they had a break for each hour they played. It was the least I could do because they played their hearts out! Their harp player had a conflict come up and I begged for him to attend since the harp really adds life to the Mariachi music. We were looking for a mariachi group for my moms funeral local to Hayward/Union City area. I placed a search via yelp, and two out of the 4 groups contacted me. One was a flamenco singer and the other was Mariachi Estelar, they sent me their link to the website and texted. Which is awesome. Everything was done via phone. The cost was extremely reasonable and I was able to book and pay my deposit on my phone through Venmo. Day of the even they made it special and did a awesome job.
