    MEDITERRANEAN LIGHT PASTA
    Emily S.

I had a wonderful experience dining in at Andie's on a quiet Thursday evening in September. There were very few people in the restaurant despite prime dinner time which surprised me considering how good this place ended up being. There was ambient dim lighting with lit candles and open air coming in from the nice warm day - very romantic. The service was fast and attentive, and the menu had a lot of tempting options but I settled on the Mediterranean light pasta while my boyfriend got the curry chicken couscous, and both came with delicious sides of either lemon chicken or lentil soup. Both were fantastic. We also had dolmates for an appetizer and I'd highly recommend. All our food was bursting with flavor and the owner checked in on us after the meal concluded to ensure we had a great experience!

The food and service here was so amazing! We had the best waiter Abby. She was extremely kind and attentive and had great recommendations. Delicious!

I have always enjoyed the mojitos that Andies serves during street festivals but have never actually dined in the restaurant, now I have; and I am happy to report that the food is good, the atmosphere cozy (especially by the fireplace) and the staff friendly and attentive. My wife and I shared a meal and it was plenty for both of us. Worth noting that the menu is well done, it clearly denotes in house favorites, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. We shall return!

Andie's is such a treasure in Andersonville!! The food is always amazing and the staff is so kind. We so appreciated that the owner stops by our table every time to make sure everything is great. Their pomegranate chicken is my absolute favorite! This has become one of our neighborhood go to's.

Great and tasty generous portions. The service is good and the staff is polite and friendly. The restaurant is in the heart of Andersonville. A must visit!

I just love this Mediterranean place. It's nice and cozy and the food is so good. On this night, we came to try their vegan dishes, and we were not disappointed as always they served great food. I had the Moraccan Eggplant served with Dill rice, my favorite of course and lentil soup. My wife tried the Portabello & Lentil with Dill rice as well and lemon soup. Both were delicious and plenty to take home for lunch. We also had the Hummus dip sampler tray and non alcohol drinks. For desert, my wife had a scoop of ice cream with chocolate syrup. Tatiana, our waitress was great.

First time in a long time that I've been to a Mediterranean restaurant. I am not the biggest fan but I will say their Pita Bread was really good, it comes warm and soft to the table. Our server was really kind, and attentive. For my entree I had the Trio sampler I believe, the highlight of the dish was the chicken and dill rice I chose as my side. I think for someone who enjoys Mediterranean food this would be a great place to try. Side note: FREE parking behind the restaurant (says it on the menu) but didn't know before we went so we ended up paying for parking.

For me, Andies is an alright Mediterranean restaurant if you need somewhere that's large and not too noisy with a good number of options available. This is location conveniently on a street with plenty of shopping, entertainment, bar, and other dining options nearby. Service is quick and efficient, and decor is fairly nice. Unfortunately, there's nothing special about the food. While it's served in large portions, I feel like there's fast casual options I'd rather go for over the food I had here. The lentil soup is warm with a nice consistency and provides a hearty option for the cold chicago winters. The Greek salad comes with nice crispy lettuce and a light flavored dressing. The gyro meat in the gyros platter was a bit underseasoned and not seared on the edges. The meat was soft, but not juicy. This did not have much synergy when mixed with the raw onion and tomato, probably since the tzatziki sauce had barely any flavor. The chianti braised short rib gave a sense of comfort food although the overcooked short rib detracted from the enjoyment of the dish. The amount of meat provided was fairly generous though. The carrots, spinach, onions, and green beans in red wine was a light accompaniment to the dish and didn't do much to help flavor the meat. The curry vegetable couscous was overpowered by too much curry powder which hid the flavor of the sauteed onions and peppers. The cous cous felt a bit undercooked which gave the dish a slight gritty texture. Overall, not a bad place for a social gathering. The food was alright but a bit light in flavor and could have had better textures.

My family and I have eaten at Andy for years, we've also had it delivered but this is my first review. The food is excellent, I've had just about everything on the menu. The service and staff are the best, and it always on top of everything. In the summertime when they open the windows, the ambience is nice. Thank you Andies for allowing me to share great memories with my family!

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant. Ema, what happened to you?!

I arrived 25 minutes later and they hadn't even made my order. From there, 3 different people told me it'll be another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes. I ended up waiting 20 minutes and during that whole time there was no apology. One of the workers handed me a tea and later I saw they included dessert in the bag. It was a nice gesture but I was frustrated that it wasn't acknowledged by the staff at all and part of my order was still missing. I paid $2.25 for a Yogurt & Cucumber Sauce which I never received. The Caspian Mix Grill with Albaloo Polo was very good. The filet mignon & chicken breast were both juicy and well-seasoned. The Albaloo Polo is plain basmati rice mixed with saffron, caramelized onion and sauteed sweet & sour cherries. I liked the rice but it felt like they just threw the cherries on top rather than incorporate it into the rice. It was very filling, enough to share with 2 people, and good value. The Bamieh & Balava were also fresh, sweet, and a nice bite to end on. Ultimately, I would give the food a 4/5 and the service a 2/5, hence my 3/5 rating.

Nothing really went together and it was warm, which didn't make sense and made it worse. The steak was cooked how I asked, but the sauce was extremely oily and had this strange burnt flavor which likely was from the onions? The onions were extremely burnt, nothing like a typical caramelized delish onion. The chicken had the same issue, everything had that same burnt tasting oil and the chilies sitting in it just made it more intense. It was honestly just edible and nothing I would come back for or recommend. I love middle eastern food and know that even with a midwestern there are some considerations to take with the flavor profile but the burnt onions, burnt spicy oil in the chicken, and a warm salad are all indications for poor execution. As for the actual ambiance and experience it was my birthday and there was no acknowledgment at all not even someone to check in on whether the food was okay. I did not want to order a dessert after the salad, steak, and shawarma all missing the mark. The seating was very uncomfortable. It is cramped and communal and at this price point I expected a much better experience. Will admit I should have looked into the actual dining set up before booking a late night reservation but even still there are so many better places in Chicago where you can get better food and actually feel comfortable. Overall it just was not worth it. I would not return or recommend this spot.
