This restaurant is in an unassuming house that I even got lost when I was originally looking for it. Turns out, you just have to find the house with the 51 on top of the door! The patio is covered and quite a nice space. We all got drinks and I have to say - their bartender impressed me for sure. I was working that night so I couldn't drink any alcohol, but I told my waiter what kind of flavors I would want in a mocktail and the bartender whipped up something extremely delicious and very fitting for me which made me happy! As for food, the spicy chicken impressed me with the spice. Normally I can handle a good amount but this was very spicy, but in a great way. Fries were also good. Would definitely come back for drinks and light dinner with friends! Parking is on the street. Patio has good vibes :)

Parking is all street, and the restaurant itself is tucked into the neighborhood without much signage--look for the big door with "51" overhead so you don't miss it. Drinks were a highlight: punchy, strong, and super refreshing--exactly the kind of cocktails that make you want to linger a little longer. My girlfriend wanted a mocktail since she was working that night, but didn't know exactly what she wanted. She asked for fruity, refreshing, and sour - and they whipped up a custom mocktail and truly delivered! Pretty good prices too. Waitstaff was awesome and bartender knows what they're doing. Food-wise, I'd definitely recommend the fries (crispy and addictive), the chicken (go for spicy if you can handle heat--it's legit but balanced), and the dahl, which was comforting and flavorful. The crudo was refreshing but portion-wise a bit on the smaller side, so I'd probably skip that next time. Overall, really enjoyed the vibe here--chill, modern, and it would make a really cute date spot. Would definitely come back for the drinks and small plates.

To quote Bon Appetit: "Not all pizzas served in a bar are 'bar pizza.'" Certainly not all bar…read morepizzas are Bobby's Bar Pizza either. If you're wondering what 'bar pizza' is (as I was before tonight), it's a very thin pie cooked in a pan until it has a lovely crisp edge but doesn't turn into a cracker with toppings as many thin crust pizzas do (the last bit is not the formal definition but my commentary). Bar pizzas are served at bars but it's the preparation that sets it apart as a genre of pizza. It's not just any old pizza served at a bar. How do I define bar pizza, namely Bobby's Bar Pizza? Bobby's serves literally everything I want in a pizza in one supremely scarily digestible format. The edges are perfectly crispy all around. There's enough chew, spring, and airiness to the slice. The sauce is perfect with tomatoes and herbs as the dominant notes; I forgot just how good pizza sauce could be on its own until trying Bobby's. As I've become notorious for stating on Yelp previously, I like cheese as a component that ties pizza together and not as the dominant note of the pizza. Bobby's does cheese just right. What's so unique about Bobby's Bar Pizza is how I think the size of the pizza also contributes uniquely to how good it is. Each slice is no more than a few bites so you get the best sensory aspects of eating pizza without any mouth fatigue or getting full fast on boring bites from the middle of these sheet-sized slices. I'd plan accordingly; I'd say one pizza or a little less is sufficient for a hungry adult looking for a meal or two adults who are looking just for a snack. Here I am, waxing poetic about pizza but what does my florid prose matter if you don't have basic deets? Bobby's operates as a pop-up out of The Parlour on Monday and Wednesday evenings. They request that you pay in cash. I left work late and forgot to go to the ATM before (typical). They were so cool; they allowed me to pay with CashApp. Solid. This level of attention and care for customers is among the many reasons I try to shop local. It is so cool that we have this excellent pop-up with a unique genre of pizza right here in town. Support them! You will not be disappointed.

I arrived at Hotel Indigo in Auburndale at 5:45 as the Event started at 6 pm. I was pleasantly surprised that the competition was held poolside. Had I known, I would have opted to dress for a quick dip. That put aside, it was perfect weather for an outdoor cook off. The sun was shining, the water in the pool was sparkling, the crowd was bustling, the fight staff were setting up a huge table of food items for the Chefs to grab and best of all the bar was open as in Free Open Bar :) The Chefs must have had a plan, as the whistle blew to start the competition, the Chefs run from the starting line to the table piled high with vegetables, spices, garnishes and more. When the last Chef picked the remaining few items from the table, all that was left were a few broken eggs. Once the Chefs brought their aprons full of supplies back to their cooking area, grills were already hot, the Chefs were called poolside to a table covered in different kinds of mushrooms. I guess they had a drawing as they were called to the table one at a time to choose the box of their favorite Shrooms. When the last box of mushrooms were chosen the Chefs were all back at their makeshift kitchens cutting, chopping and slicing away as fast and as carefully as possible. This allowed all the guests time to walk around and enjoy the free cocktails and mingle while watching these amazing Chefs prepare their magic. The Judges were comprised of some Executive Chefs, TV Personality and a Comic. They were all extremely professional and were available to talk, ask questions and for some even photo opts. Once all the STEAK was cooked and plated the competition was on. The Judges tasted each contestants meat with sides as the entire audience looked on and drooled. Appetizers from the hotel were being distributed in large quantities to hold us over until it was our turn to judge. When the Judges were done it was now everyone else's turn to try all the fabulous BBQ STEAK. I felt as though I was on TV. As the crowd hustled to their favorite Chefs table to nibble on the finished product, my daughter and I decided to start with Chef number one and work our way quickly and quietly around to assure a taste of all the STEAK. To conclude a great event, every one gathered around to hear the names of the winner and runner ups, and scurried around to try seconds and thirds of the Chefs final product. If you ever have an opportunity to attend a Culinary Fight Club Event or any Cook Off for that matter, I highly suggest you go. You will have a great time. I give Culinary Fight Club Boston a Solid 5 Stars.
