I've been chewing on this for weeks and I can't shake the feeling I was tricked…read more I stare at the website that specifically says they charge junk and donation removal based on the volume that is filled in the truck and that 70% is recycled or donated. There is nothing on the website that highlights the additional fees. The additional fees includes the labor wage, charged in 15 minute increments, the heavy item charge applied to any item over 50 lbs, and the charge for recycling air conditioners which was $50 a piece. The website doesn't say it and neither did the free estimate despite specifically mentioning these items! When I learned of these additional charges, when Jon stood in my kitchen and explained them to me, I was in no position to say no. I had to turn in my keys the next day. The items needed to go. The initial estimate to the final cost was off by 50%. On top of it all, I really was left with the impression that very little would be donated and most would be trashed despite the excellent condition the items were in. I will not dispute any other statement I made about the guys doing the actual work. They were awesome and did an amazing job. I feel for them because between the website and the worst estimator aka just want to make the sale! guy their company puts them in a horrible position of dropping all those extra fees in-person. College Hunks shows no care nor empathy for either their haul away customers or their employees by poorly setting expectations and then letting their field crew take the heat for their utter lack of transparency. I will not be using their services in the future.

It was like watching a coach of a little league team. He was constantly guiding them on how to protect the walls and carpeting. He kept tabs on them to keep them moving. When I say "them," I mean there was a crew of 7 movers and they finished the job in six hours and it could easily have extended into another day, but due to building restrictions we would not have use of the elevator the next day. He divided the team and pushed them to work smarter and faster. What was very obvious is how he kept moving people around so they could all take a short break to catch their breath. I appreciated that he showed them the same respect he showed us. The invoice upon completion was not what I was quoted so after speaking with the Junk King office about it, they immediately made it right. They didn't make me jump through hoops or beg, they honored their word. If you want to work with honest, hard working people, call Junk King! I happened to lose my direction driving to MCS Recycling which has almost an exact street address as Eastmont Transfer Station but at opposite end; "W" instead of "E" street designator (7201 E Marginal Way). Upon driving to this station, I parked then walked up the ramp to knock on the office for verification & help. There was a young lady working in the office and her name is Savanna. Upon learning of my problems of having a malfunctioned phone/GPS using Waze for direction, Savanna quickly showed me the directions to get to MCS Recycling. Just to make sure I would not forget her instructions, Savanna also printed out a paper copy for me to take with me! She helped me regardless of whether I was a customer of her business or not! I can't say enough good things about Savanna but wanted to share to the public of how nice Savanna was to me and it says great thing about Eastmont Transfer Station management regarding the quality and attitude of the people that they hired to represent them days in days out!
