I bought my gas fireplace insert from Anderson several years ago and I have always had them service it. The previous technician they had for years would always take the time to clean and test everything in great detail. The current technician came last year to do the second service in a 3 year prepaid plan I bought and spent about 20 minutes not cleaning much. I had to take it all apart and clean it myself. I just let that slide thinking it would be a one off thing but today it happened again. The same technician my cameras clocked him in at 11:28am and leaving by 11:49am. That would leave him about 15 minutes of cleaning time if you factor in laying out/picking up of tools and writing out the service report. I happened to be home at the time he arrived and he actually had the nerve to try and sell me on doing a prepaid package again because the price is increasing as I was leaving for work. I will have to take it all apart and clean it myself again and in my opinion Anderson owes me my money back for two years of that plan. We needed service on a 3 yr old Town & Country fireplace that would not light. Anderson was able to schedule a visit 2 weeks out, compared to 2 months out quoted by two other T&C dealers. They texted the day prior to reconfirm, and the tech Brendan called prior to arriving the day of service. He was able to quickly resolve the issue and was polite, careful and friendly. We hired Anderson to repair our old fireplace last summer. They were too busy, and more costly, to hire during the winter months. So, their technician came out in April, cleaned it up, did minor repairs, and everything worked fine. We didn't start using it regularly until October. The third time it wouldn't start. The pilot light is on and the remote has fresh batteries. I called Anderson and they said, sorry your three month warranty expired. The receptionist said she would ask Kevin the boss if they could make an exception because this sort of seasonal delay had happened before. She said he would give me a call, but I still haven't heard from him. $533 spent and still no functioning fireplace. Not great service. read more

I set up an appointment to have my pellet stove serviced, it was 3 weeks before they could come but I booked the appointment anyway. On the day of the appointment I called to confirm the appointment and was told I was on the service persons schedule. No one ever showed up or called. Dear Anderson Fireplace, I think it's necessary to inform any future potential clients who read this review of your deceptive and unprofessional business practices. I sought your "professional" expertise to service my fireplace unit thinking that because you were the retailer that sold me the unit, I should have some confidence in your abilities to repair my unit. Who else would have better knowledge to service the fireplace unit then the retailer? Unfortunately, as I would find out, your absolute lack of communication and professionalism made even getting my unit serviced by you a quagmire of the largest proportions. Anderson Fireplace came out to my residence for two service appointments and did not resolve my issue on either occurrence. After calling and speaking with Collin, the service manager, he agreed to come out again for a third service appointment. That appointment Anderson Fireplace, Collin, decided to not show up for and also decided to not call me about. I was left at my house waiting and received no communication from them regarding that third appointment commitment. I reached out to Anderson Fireplace the next day and inquired about their lack of communication and commitment to fulfill the appointment. I was received with an indignant excuse and confusion over why I would expect a business to, at the very least, communicate with me in regards to the appointments they make. I requested that they call me back when they were ready to schedule an appointment to genuinely repair my fireplace. A week passes and no phone call. So, I call again, this time I leave a message requesting Collin, the service manager, to contact me back and still I hear nothing back from Anderson Fireplace. I eventually reached out the manufacturer of the unit, Travis Industries, as Anderson Fireplace is an authorized retailer for them and spoke with a representative named Edward. Edward swore that he would speak with Anderson Fireplace and they would find out a way to have a service tech from Travis Industries come out if necessary. Edward communicated that Anderson Fireplace would contact me to schedule a fourth appointment. We're approaching a month from that first service appointment and I still have no appointment date. Please keep in mind that Anderson Fireplace already collected a service fee from me of $251.38 last month. I went through the bitter cold that swept through Washington last month including temperatures in the teens while Anderson Fireplace avoided contacting and communicating with me. Anderson Fireplace accepted my money, did not fix my unit and took advantage of me during some of the coldest weather this state has experienced in recent times. To anyone reading this, avoid this business and save yourself the headache. You'll just get hoodwinked in the end anyways, take it from me I would know. read more

To start off with Rod the owner was very nice when I was looking at buying some high end gas lanterns. More than willing to take my money. Had them installed and have had more down time with them not working than operational. Many trips out to try to get them to work with same result in the end. Not working. Reached out to Rod the owner many times with out any response. called today to see why after leaving a message over a month ago I have not been contacted. Second time I had to deal with the very condescending service gal. She is rude and very insulting. Was told I "pissed off" Rod the owner just for reaching out to him and should not waist his time" when I can call service myself. Been nothing but nice as I am a business owner myself. They just don't care after the sale. Reached out to Rich's today in Lynnwood and they were apologizing for my experience with another business, Wow in a good way. Rich's will be coming out tomorrow to work on something they didn't even sell. 5 star for Rich's and if I could leave Zero stars on this business i would. read more

This review of of the Everett location: We were to have some gas lines run as well as two new fireplaces installed. We were scheduled out over two months to get these installed. They were supposed to send techs out to assess the job and detail everything that was needed. That never happened. They called the day before and said that they were supposed to be at our home at nine. Later, they called and said ten as they "had to go pick up a different truck". No one showed until nearly noon without a call nor explanation. Once here, we asked about the truck and the techs informed us that there was no truck to pick up - they had another job scheduled over us. They didn't leave until nearly eight (promised to be done by five) - unfortunately, we had a benefit to attend in Seattle which they caused us to miss - cost of tickets and parking down the drain. Further, they did not install the valves as agreed upon and when they turned the gas back on, they did not check to see if it was working properly and thus, the next morning our furnace and water heater no longer functioned as the pilot lights had gone out. Further, there was an unexpected charge of nearly $1,000 as they had not properly estimated the job - since no one came for assessment of the job prior. They also failed to get the proper permits as promised. We have asked them to put in the valves, get the permits, and donate the cost of the tickets and parking to the charity for which the benefit was held. read more

No complaints regarding staff or their knowledge of the product. Installers were scheduled to arrive at 11 am. After 2 calls to the store we finally received a call from the installers at 2:30 saying they would arrive in 20 minutes. Installation went well and the installers were courteous but they didn't have our thermostat or permit paperwork. Armed with the knowledge these folks tend to run late I wonder how many more hours will be spent waiting. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible! Tried to buy a gas fireplace insert that needed repairs. Was promised a stove that needed repairs and painting. After about 2 weeks of not hearing a word I called, they said they would call me back. They never called back. I finally got a hold of them after 3 weeks, asked them what was happening with the stove, "they haven't had time to work on it yet". I ask, well when do you think you'll get the time?? They didn't have a clue and no longer wanted to sell me the insert and hung up on me. Way to do business! Rude much! Your getting 1 star because there is no minus stars. Why one star? Lack of follow through. I called Anderson on recommendation from another local heating business in Everett. Anderson is also just down the road, so I also liked that local/hometown feel of doing business. I had a technician come look at my gas insert that would not stay lit. Turns out, they needed ti order a part. Ok, no big deal. I assumed I would get a call letting me know the part cost, availability, and when we could schedule the repair. I didn't hear from them. Anxious to get this resolved, I called and left a message asking for a status update and a call back. I never heard back. So, I called again and got on the line with someone at the Marysville location. She said she needed to talk with the tech and get back with me. Before I got off the phone, I clearly asked her, "Now, I hadn't heard from you all after the initial appointment or after I left a message. Am I going to hear back from you?" I was assured yes. It's been two weeks, and still no word on a small part. No follow through and no updates. I will now be looking for a new company to service my fireplaces and have to take additional time to start the process over. Sorry Anderson, all you had to do was call me. That's it. The most basic of customer interactions and you failed multiple times. I will not be recommending your services to anyone. If you ever ask yourself while local businesses struggle, it starts here. read more

Then I didn't realize I would need my model number and you would have thought it was the end of the world to wait while I found it. Used the Marysville shop when we remodeled our home and bought two gas fireplaces here. Would not use them again. We have an old central flu chimney and they blocked the flu below the first floor level but refused to come out and look at it afterwards. Rough looking installer showed up. I didn't like his attitude. Rude guy. The outdoor component of the heat pump was left sitting on a foam pad and was not level. He got his work done and demanded full payment. However the electrical was not hooked up. I wasn't about to make the final payment without a working system. He made a big deal about it and called the store to see what to do. I didn't understand the attitude. I don't know why he thought he deserved full payment when the work wasn't completed. read more

Called them up to schedule our install and they said they wouldn't do it because we didn't purchase our gas insert from them and that they don't do side jobs. read more

We even toured the factory and learned about the system we were going to install. The worst experience working with any type of home contract service in our 20yrs of many remodels. From mis-ordering of products, inaccurate measuring and installation, grossly missed time quote of 2.5months turning into 9months, inaccurate and tampered with workorders, threatening emails and phone calls, all the way to a traumatic event of fireplace glass exploding all over our home near our young daughter which still effects her today. We hope no person ever has to be put through anything like this again. Very unfortunate when businesses become all about money instead of what may be doing the right thing in such circumstances. Purchased a house with a pellet stove, is the only source of heat. After a few years obviously the fire pot deteriorated to the point where I needed to be replaced. Never had an issue with it. Since I called Andersen fire I've had nothing but problems the fire pot they replaced with was faulty, took them nearly a month to come back out to replace that fire pot. And now it still is not working properly. Can't get anybody to call me back. Every time I call a gentleman named Tyler answers the phone with a crappy attitude and I never hear back from anybody. Do not use them! I had my pellet stove installed by them and it took 3 visits for them to get it working properly. I told the salesman and the techs that I will be cleaning my own stove (I can't afford $250 svc fee twice a year) and they said it was an easy stove to clean. It's not that easy (much harder than my old Quadrafire) and it was much more difficult given that Anderson did not provide me with an updated manual. It was missing vital info to maintain my stove properly. I called them and left several messages saying I had service questions and even stated what one of them was and GOT NO CALL BACK. Now they have a receptionist that will at least take your call but is no help at all. Finally just got the updated manual via email from the mgr after 2 phone calls. Also, their service charge is $50 more than CM Heating (who is GREAT!) and they have a long wait time for a date. read more

Yes, I am a fan of Anderson Fireplaces. So far the unit works well and I suspect we will use the gas fireplace (Lopi 564HP) for most heating needs. Terry Henderson was great at explaining the product, showing how I could get additional information from the Lopi website (being a DIYer I did a lot of it myself) and scheduling a consultation visit to confirm what we wanted was feasible. JD and Taylor, the actual installers were professional, patient, amazingly effecient and clean. Only confusing thing was wiring a power duct option. I thought it was a simple plug in to the fireplace itself but, no, it needs to be hard wired. I'm OK with that... just surprised and wasn't properly prepared. All in all, though, a very good choice! read more

Bought a ductless heat pump system for a house in Ballard. The sales person Terry was great, came to the house, took picture and measurement and discussed best placement. Install people and follow up with Kevin were terrible. Purchased 9/14 install 10/14. Installed compressor backwards on front porch, blowing cold air at people on porch and into house if door was opened. Condensation ran onto porch and into basement. After complaints to Anderson Fireplace was passed onto Kevin at Anderson Installations, although Rod Anderson listed as owner of both Anderson Fireplace and Anderson Installations. Came down 12/14 to turn compressor around, but had no solution for leaking on porch. Found out that compressor was now installed with electrical panel too close to a post and that compressor is low on refrigerant. Was also informed that Anderson needed a City of Seattle license. 2/15 Anderson installers came back, moved the compressor and showed CofS mechanical permit. Compressor runs approx 7 days and shuts down. Diagnostic shows low refrigerant. Called CofS and installation fails both electrical and mechanical as Anderson does not have refrigeration permit to work in Seattle. Meet with Kevin to schedule return, He claims necessary permits in mail. Call to CofS verify still have not applied for a permit. Cancel further contact with Anderson and hire S&L Mechanical who comes on 5/15, fixes the problems with the necessary permits. Installation now passes all City of Seattle requirements. Cost me $1,889 dollars to fix. Anderson refused to reimburse me. File small claims suit which I win on 11/15. Snohomish Co. District Court #C-15-04152. Up until today 6/16 Anderson has not paid. read more
