I visited Northstar Locksmith to have a replacement key made for a cabinet. I provided both the…read morecabinet manufacturer and the key number. The employee who assisted me cut a key and told me it "should work," but also stated that if it didn't, I was essentially out of luck because they do not provide refunds. Not surprisingly, the key did not work. The next day, I called to explain the situation and inquire about having the cabinet re-keyed. The woman I spoke with indicated there may be another option and encouraged me to come back to the store so they could explore it. When I returned, I was greeted by the same employee who originally cut the key. After explaining what I had been told on the phone, he insisted he had cut the correct key. When I asked why I was receiving conflicting information and whether I could speak with the employee who had spoken to me on the phone, he threw the key back at me and said he couldn't help me. I then went to Able Locksmith and explained the entire situation. They immediately noticed that the key I had been given was different from what was needed. They cut a different key, with the proper teeth pattern, and it worked perfectly on the first try. What frustrates me most is not that a mistake was made, mistakes happen. It's the complete lack of customer service, unwillingness to troubleshoot the issue, and dismissive attitude when I returned seeking help. Based on this experience, I will be taking my business to Able Locksmith in the future and recommending others do the same.

I was here to get a lost key for a car storage topper. I was selling it and over the many years…read morethe key just disappeared. So the sales technician, because they are both consultants of locks and keys, sought the brand of my topper and looked up the key code in their computer system. They found it ... it's 20 years old. YES! Okay so they tested the keys that would fit and after some trials and errors they got the right key to work. On my way I put my topper on Craigslist and sold the topper I no longer needed. Thanks guys! They got the knowledge and computer tech to figure you lock or key out!

Like monkeys with a football 3 of them couldn't program the fob. Then the excuses started that the receiver in the car was the problem. Total B S the remote start ( which channels through the receiver ) works perfectly fine...even the old key fob will start the car. Then they hemmed and hawed concerning a refund. One thought it was funny that it didn't work. Maybe they are good at making metal keys but anything requiring tech...run.

It is my belief that when a customer requests an update five times in a nine month period of time, a minimum of one phone call is an appropriate response. The experience would've been been less disturbing if I had chosen to just throw the safe in the dumpster with all of the contents inside and go purchase a new safe from any one of the dozens of places that sell safes in Anchorage.
