It was late in cruise season so ended up just being 4 of us which made this an even more amazing, intimate experience. I cannot say enough about what an incredible experience this tour was. To even call it a tour seems inaccurate since it felt more like we were picked up by an old friend that we hadn't seen in a while who wanted to show us the best of Alaska. I highly, highly, highly recommend this as an alternative to a simple bus transfer to Anchorage. The initial 2 hour drive through "postcard Alaska" was breathtaking and Bryan shared a ton of information about the area, including the earthquake that altered the area topography in amazing ways. The tram to the top of Alyeska was stunning and lunch was tasty among such a gorgeous backdrop. The first brewery in Girdwood was by far our group's favorite stop. Every beer was delicious, our host, Jake, was fun and knowledgeable, and they made us feel like family. We could have stayed all day. The second stop at the Anchorage Distillery was super informative, the staff very friendly and the cocktail was superb. We ended at Double Shovel and could not have asked for a better ending to the trip. We were met with a gorgeous day sitting in the open air tasting room and sipping on the tastiest ciders I've ever had. They're truly masters of their craft with a cider for every taste. Throughout all of this I cannot stress enough Bryan's professionalism, kindness, and depth of knowledge about Alaska. You can tell he takes immense pride in what he does and that he's forged deep and meaningful relationships with the vendors on the tour. I've travelled to all seven continents and have been on many adventure tours and treks over the years that have left me disappointed and wanting more, but this trip was definitely a trip to remember. As the name suggests, it is an extreme adventure trip that will push you physically and in some places mentally, especially since we had quite a bit of rain, and towards the end, some rain and sleet and a lot of wind, but if you're willing, it will be a trip you will not forget. Sandra (guide) and Roz (intern) picked me up from my hotel right on time along with the other members of the group before heading off to 3 days, 2 nights of sea kayaking. Through out our trip, we went white water rafting, hiking and ice climbing on the Matanuska Glacier, zip lining, and 2 days, 1 night of hiking along a mountain ridge line (I believe approximately 4600 ft at the peak) and back out through the valley. My group had 5 people, 1 guide (Sandra) and 1 intern (Roz) with group sizes maxing out at 6 people. As some of the other reviewers had mentioned, the guides were on the younger side (all relative of course, depending on your own age), however I didn't feel that they were inexperienced at all. Both Sandra and Roz had great energy and knowledge and never once did I feel that they didn't know what they were doing. They knew when and how to encourage each of us to get the most out of our adventure. The food definitely surprised me, as many nights we were in the wilderness, but you will certainly not feel like you're roughing it with the amount and quality of food. Without giving away any surprises, which there are at least one or two, the food is definitely top notch for this type of adventure trip. On our 6th day, we had an Alaskan style BBQ where Don, the owner came to join us. Leading up to the trip, Don replied to each and every one of my questions and concerns promptly, but for him as the owner to actually take the time to come out to meet our group and have dinner with us, chat and share stories showed us true Alaskan hospitality and definitely a sign of a great business owner. There are so many other highlights and people that made the trip great, from John Brown with Chugach Outdoor Center (white water rafting guide), Noah, who co lead the ice hike and ice climbing with Sandra, Ellie with her baked scones and cinnamon rolls, Mandy cooking the amazing Alaskan BBQ, and the Honey Bee Latte made by (forgot her name, but it was amazing). I would definitely recommend Exposure Alaska and their adventure tours for your trip to Alaska. It's a terrific way to experience the real Alaska and challenge yourself both physically and mentally and build friendships and experiences that you will carry with you for a lifetime. I will definitely be reaching out to Don and Exposure Alaska the next time I decide to head back to Alaska.

Then walked over from the Marriott under ten minutes to the Mushing District where the Iditarod starts. We were early. Instructed to return at 9:45am when boarding begins. Our first stop was Ship Creek next to the Ulu knife factory. Ship Creek is known for salmon fishing. None present when we were there. We popped into the ulu knife factory for a quick visit. We'd purchased an ulu knife years back at the same store. Then it was off to various points of interest including a stop at Earthquake Park. Site of a devastating earthquake in 1964. The other highlight was a visit to the neighborhood of Turnagain to admire all the seaplanes. The deluxe tour was a great way to get an overview of Anchorage.

Worth every penny, but 900 dollars is a lotta moolah to come up with. What's nice is they do have some off the rack Parkys, most of what they sell is custom made. You specify your size, fur type and lining and you'll end up with a perfect fitting, cozy piece of Alaskan art. If you've never seen a parky, it's a bit of genius. Most winter parkas are just too darn short and your butt gets cold. Parkys are fab because they are a jacket with cute little skirt attached which 1- looks cute and 2- keeps your tookas toasty. They're adorned with ribbon and fur in just the right places to be both feminine and functional. Ladies, on those cold winter nights you can be warm and still look like a lady- I give you the Parky! I cannot remember the…read moregirls name who did our tour (June 16th, 2023 9:00 am tour) but she was so sweet and so informative. She was extreme friendly and engaging with the group. We met at the center and then headed into Kincaid Park. We saw some moose on the way into the park and they stopped to let us get a closer look! They set up all the bikes for us and had water, rain coats and gloves since the weather forecast for our trip was rainy. She did a great job giving us the history on the stops through our 10 mile ride. It was relatively flat and the entire path is paved and there were some hills but wasn't too bad. The mosquitos were out even though it was chilly outside so bring bug spray to be prepared. We ran into a mom and 2 baby moose on our trip and had to wait out to see which way they went. Again do I think you can rent bikes and do this yourself - yes but you won't get the history lesson with it and I think that makes it all the difference.

This was...an experience to say the least…read more 1) The Wilderness, Wildlife, and Glacier tour was insanely overpriced. Get a rental car and do it yourself, you'll save a ton of money. We did the add on glacier cruise, could have booked it cheaper on our own. Again. Just do these things on your own. Trip started in Anchorage, drove us to the wildlife conservation center. We had about an hour there, so basically only time to watch the bears. We never even looked at the other animals just due to lack of time. Then we drove to the Portage Glacier Lodge for lunch that you pay for yourself, on our way we stopped at two spots to take pics, again places you could just stop at. Food was insanely overpriced. Then to the cruise, the cruise itself is an hour long and seeing the glacier is cool, but the ship and crew were the most rinky dink operation I've ever seen. 2) our tour guide locked the keys to the van inside the van. She did not even call to get help until over an hour after discovering the keys were locked inside. We had to wait at the lodge for almost 2 hours before someone came to bring her the spare keys. During this time no one communicated with us regarding a plan and we were just sitting there waiting. Tour guide "Captain C" was nowhere to be found. She then drove us quite erratically back to Anchorage, I presume out of stress. The pics she took aren't great, not like the ones on other reviews and are mostly blurry. 3) Book with a better group. This was a waste of money.

Not only was she very knowledgeable, pleasant, a good driver, but she also treated us all amazing: she remembered all our names, took photos of each of us on our phones with the views in the background, did a little trivia game at the end of the tour, and took wilderness photos on her camera and shared them with us within 2 hours from the end of tour. And they were great! Secondly, the stops were really fun. We spotted a moose mom with her baby in the wild, saw a few bald eagles, some sheep too. We also had a tasty lunch at Portage Glacier Lodge on one of the stops. Thirdly, the rainy weather didn't affect our experience as all because of Grace's non ending good mood & cool headed nature. Even though the glacier cruise at the end got canceled due to awfully strong winds, we did other stops and had fun. Be flexible and have fun! I'll spare you the details, except to say there is a one-way tunnel with a schedule for when you can drive through it, and Phil managed it perfectly by showing up more than an hour early. We paid for a private 9-hour tour, which was convenient because the van securely held our luggage the entire time until we eventually got to the Anchorage airport. Phil customized the tour based on our preferences, so we were able to do some excellent hikes and got to see some bears, moose, elk, and others at a wildlife sanctuary. Phil is a good historian and had plenty to say as he drove us around and accompanied us on our adventures.

Their energy was infectious, and you could tell they truly loved and appreciated Alaska and wanted to share it with you! The bike ride was about 4 miles round trip and took roughly 30 minutes. It was on a paved path along the road. As someone who does not bike often, I found it very manageable. My legs burned a little on the small incline, but no one in our group seemed to have trouble with it. If you are elderly or have knee problems, etc I would only recommend this to you if you are confident in your biking abilities. My grandmother could not do this bike with her knee problems so she didn't sign up but I'm sure other people her age could if they are in good shape. The views were incredible, with mountains and water visible throughout the entire ride. We saw eagles along the way. The hike itself was very easy and about 1.5 miles round trip. We saw lots of slugs, a lake, mountains, etc. (no bears! Yay!) Overall, I would recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a fun activity with beautiful scenery and knowledgeable guides.
