We returned the RV on 7/6/2025, with the door lock handle broke. But today it's 10/14/25, I cannot get my insurance deposit back so far! Kate took my call a couple of times and told me she ordered the door handle part for replacement and the deposit return process takes long etc. I did not push her too much, however, it seems not reasonable after 3 months they still hold my deposit. and she reject to reply my message and not pick up my call any more. It's not the right way to do the business. I believe every rental should have the same $1000 insurance deposit, what's your experience to get back your deposit return?

Unexpectedly, we ended up being the only guests as others had backed out. We started out of Seward with a nice trip from Anchorage with Joan and Jeff as our shuttle team. They were both very personable and a pleasure to make the trip with to Seward. We were greeted with champagne and quickly got underway. Our accommodations were exactly as described in the Master suite. After two days of being wined and dined, we finally had to say, the "food is amazing, but we don't eat this much in a day. We need to slow down on the amount" LOL Certainly all you could possibly eat and nicely prepared. En En set beautiful tables for every meal and and our wine glasses were never dry. The weather was not the best for the first few days, so with everyone's agreement, we decided to roll the dice and cross the Gulf of Alaska to head towards Whittier. At that point, the weather became amazing, we did kayaking and had a 13,000 year old cocktail (Bourbon on Glacier ice). Who knew we would go to Alaska to get a tan? We spent the entire time cruising out on the deck getting sun. Captain Al and his team were wonderful hosts. I guess I could address every complaint that has been posted, but I'm not going to give it much credibility by spending any time on it. Yes, the boat is not brand new, but we had no issues on board (except the battery, but that's a little joke between Captain Al and us.). I can't speak to any of the other accommodations because we did not see or use them, but there were absolutely no complaints with ours. We are already considering the possibility of taking friends and going again some time. Thanks for everything Captain Al, En En and Christian! It was the trip of a lifetime! I love this little house museum located in downtown Anchorage. A visit at Christmas time is a must…read more-- it's all decorated for Swedish christmas and the tour guides give you not only a tour of the house but some really interesing history on Anchorage back in the day. It has a wonderful view of the inlet and it's located along the coastal trail so you could go for a walk after touring the house. It's definitely worth a stop and look.

I have a lot to say about this campground, but I just want to write a quick review for the time…read morebeing. Porcupine Campground in Hope is my favorite, but Trail River is a very close second. It has all the things I love - outstanding views of the mountains; tons of trees; relatively private, large sites that can accommodate RV's; not one but two impressive bodies of water; plenty of places to explore and NO CELL SERVICE. The campground is in the middle of nowhere (Crown Point, which essentially doesn't exist since it doesn't have a zip code.) It's at mile 24.2 of the Seward Highway, about halfway between Moose Pass and Seward. GPS coordinates are GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 60.41472, -149.38028 60°24'53"N, 149°22'49"W This is a huge campground with about 80 sites on 3 loops. But even so, reservations on summer weekends are pretty much a necessity. Sites are $18 a day. Make reservations here: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/trail-river/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70678 The best campsites are on Kenai Lake (see my close up shots of the map), almost all of which are tent-only sites. Only 2 RV sites are on Kenai Lake, #72 and 70. 73 is also near the lake. Ironically, none of the campsites are on the Trail River. You have to drive, bike or walk down the Trail River access road a little ways to view the MAGNIFICENT river, which is in my opinion, more beautiful than the Kenai and Russian Rivers. The plants here are really interesting. And I heard more bird song than I've heard anywhere else I've camped. I awoke every morning to the most beautiful sounds. Really I want to write so much more about how awesome Trail River is, but I'm tired from camping. LOL If you have any questions, PM me.

We drove by two others and found Trail River Campground, found a spot that wasn't reserved, and set up camp. It was spacious and clean with all things ready--fire pit, table, and tent space. For a last-minute camp trip, it worked out great, and we had fun. We would visit again and recommend to others.

Alaska Coastal Wildlife and Brown Bears…read more I did this tour in August 2023. It is a photography-centric tour and it lived up to the hype. We had bears. Lots of bears. Bear cubs. Carl Donohue was our Expedition Leader and did a great job. It was great to have someone with tons of bear experience, as it was close sometimes! It was a boat-based tour so that we would have the freedom to move to where the bears are. Day one we had bears. Day two we had weather, lots of weather. We were in Alaska after all. From there on out we were in bear heaven. I shot literally thousands of images (shooting at 30 frames per second will do that) and I really struggled to delete down to the 400 or so that I'm at now. It's tough to delete amazing photos because you have some that are even more amazing and you just don't need them all. The boat (yacht?) at 98 feet was super comfortable for our small group of photographers. The crew was awesome and the food was very good, certainly more than you would expect for a boat-based trip. I can't imagine how good you have to be at planning to pull that off. Every day I took "shot of a lifetime" photos of bears.

The first was the Bald Eagles in Haines in November 2022. Recently, in April 2023, I went on the Hungry Whales trip in Sitka, photographing bubble-net feeding whales. I put "company" in air quotes bc even though it is a business, it didn't feel that way. You can tell immediately this is a personal venture - Clinton was extremely prompt with any communication. We booked through outdoorsy.com and there was a system glitch two days before our arrival so my husband emailed Clinton and he called back very shortly afterwards to explain and confirm our van and dates of reservation. He picked us up at the airport (with a 6 am arrival time no less! He also dropped us off back at the airport) and then took his time to review the contract and functionality of the camper. He was thoughtful and thorough and very responsive. Felt like everything had a personal touch to it and he was honest. The camper is extremely well equipped. Bed is comfortable, and comes with pillows, sheets and an amazing comforter. There are drapes for privacy which was great to block out the night time light (since the sun sets so late here in the Summer; they're not black out drapes and we were told that from the get go. Again, honest owner ) and adds privacy when we parked (drapes blocks out the front and side windows). There is a pump sink, all the major cooking pots and cast iron pan (!), coffee pot, propane portable grill, table for eating inside and folding table for grilling roadside. Large cooler also comes with. Recessed lighting and surround sound with Bluetooth connection means you're one click away from a van party (Seriously. The bass is legit.). Comes with plugs and usb connection and axillary battery to charge all your mobile devices. The van is smooth to drive (okay, I admit, I didn't drive it, but my husband loved it and said it was easy to use and drive). We averaged 25-30 miles a gallon (which is amazing for a van). It was clean, quiet, and totally met and exceeded our needs and expectations! #glamping Hands down if we come back again, we will be looking to rent from Northern Nomads again. They won't leave your stranded. Clinton was telling us how he's looking into a spare van/camper to make sure people who book with him won't be stranded should there be an issue with the van (ex. Tire issue, bull moose crash - these are real examples). You spend a lot of time, money and energy getting to the last frontier, you want to make sure it's a solid trip. THIS will give you a home to stay while maximizing your time in Alaska!
