But it started leaking again after another rainy season. My husband contacted Jose for an estimate for the leaky roof above our garage. Jose came out, took a look and noted the sealed tiles but explained that the cracked tile is not the source of the leaking. He pointed out that while the cracked tile is part of the problem, the main source is the second story draining water directly into a gap between the tiles. He was very professional, friendly and great at explaining what the root cause of our leak was and his plan to fix it. Total opposite from the previous contractor! They came out next business day and fixed the roof. They were very thorough and clean. My mom would go up stairs and take a look through the window from her room and would tell me how great of a job they were doing. They even cleaned our gutters (which were in much need of cleaning and pleasant surprise). We received photos of his initial assessment and photos of the work that was done (before, during and after). Some photos we received are attached. It was nice to see what was happening during the job. Our roof looks great, and we have peace of mind knowing it was repaired with care and quality workmanship. This was to be a "3‑day" job. Early on the second day, I checked on the job at my two‑story residence to find debris spread over the interior of the upper level of the house. Floors, furniture, and carpets were covered with what looked like black, gritty sand. I immediately contacted the company, and they said, "Oh yeah, that can happen when your flat roof doesn't have any plywood between the roof materials and a slatted ceiling." From a few texted images, the roofers immediately identified why this had happened but had made no effort to protect my furnishings and floors with plastic sheeting or to suggest that this was something I should do. The following morning, there was a small amount of water that came through the unfinished roof after a light rain. I was able to clean this up with less than one roll of paper towels, but now I had mud in place of the sandy grit. I asked how they were going to protect the interior of my house, as there was a forecast for heavier rain. I was told, "No problem, we will tarp it better." The following day, I came back to find gallons (50-100?) of water covering my hardwood floors, furniture, and carpets. I had a water‑damage company come in and set up dehumidifiers, fans, and heaters. These ended up remaining in my house for five weeks as they attempted to dry out the interior surfaces (floors, walls, ceilings). Eventually, I was forced to pull up the hardwood flooring as it had started to warp and delaminate, and during this entire process, the owner of the company was non‑responsive and, when I did speak to him, he showed zero concern and, in fact, treated me like I was the problem. At this point, I was at the end of my rope. I was given a referral to Ryan at R&R Roofing. Ryan quickly set an appointment to come inspect the situation and showed a great deal of concern, empathy, and professionalism. He was able to quickly file for a new building permit and schedule his crew to start replacing the still‑incomplete original roof to help avoid further water damage. The job was done quickly and efficiently, and the roof looked great. My neighbors saw the finished results and also asked for a quote on their roof. As unpleasant as my experience was with the first company, working with Ryan and R&R Roofing allowed me to regain faith in humanity and feel confident in the great new roof they installed. We scheduled a roofing estimate for 10AM and waited at home all morning, but nobody showed up. Then they said the estimator would arrive around 11AM. Nobody had arrived by then either, so we called again. This time they said someone had already came by but nobody was at home. The excuse was so ridiculous. We were home the entire time, and our front door camera did not capture anyone coming to the house at all. Customer support said they would confirm with the estimator, but they didn't call us back and stopped answering our calls. What made this even more frustrating was that it seemed intentional, because they initially had my husband's phone number, and after he called many times with no answer, I tried calling from my own number and they immediately picked up. Once they had my number on file, they stopped answering my calls too. Overall, this was an extremely unprofessional experience. Poor communication, dishonest excuses, and terrible customer service. I would not recommend.

Who knows when you first get a roof done if it is done right. I am getting ready to pay another roofer $1,800 to repair the roof where the downspout connected to the drainage on the roof. He showed me a photo of where the downspout connected with the corner of the roof (on a two-story house). The flashing for the drain pipe was ON TOP of the roofing material, so, of course, water had made its way under the flashing and onto the wood below it. Anyone who knows anything knows that you do not put flashing on top. This is a problem that I saw a long time ago when the drain did not catch the water, but put off getting it fixed. I had no idea how bad it was until I saw those photos. If you think I had thought Pickell Roofing company was fine the rot from this idiocy, you would be wrong. First, Pickell put his men on the roof, tearing it apart before I had decided on hiring him. Said it was a "misunderstanding." I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Later, when I put in a freestanding stainless vent for my stove, a huge amount of old, dirty roofing material fell onto my stove. They had just left it in the attic instead of getting rid of it. I am not going to go into each and every problem I had because your time is valuable. I am just warning you that you will have your own list if you hire this guy. If I can, I will come back and attach the photo from the new roofer's camera. I am too old to get up there.
