If you like to shower among paint chips, live here. My bathtub and shower has been heavily chipping paint since February. It's been SEVEN months. I've submitted multiple maintenance requests (which get deleted without resolution) and I keep getting told "soon". I have plenty of screenshots that show how these requests get deleted. Now, I mysteriously can't access the maintenance requests portal... I've been told my login is "getting fixed" for two weeks. I also can't pay rent via the online portal anymore! I have to use a personal check (which by the way, is taking over three weeks to get cashed). When I moved it, the blinds were in bad condition. They broke in March. Same story. "They're getting shipped here," I'm told. I just wish they would listen to residents when they explain how seriously they need maintenance repairs done. Paint chips are not healthy. The law protects tenants against living in uninhabitable conditions. All of them, in detail. Last night, my A/C unit completely broke. It's hot. Last week, when I reported that it was making noise, I was told it was going to get replaced on Tuesday... But how I can trust that promise when every other promise has been broken? ----- Updates: *September 28, 2022* My A/C unit was installed as promised. The remaining issues are still pending. While the manager, Alex, is trying his best, it seems like the building owners (Champion) aren't allocating enough resources to fix tenant issues. read more

I scheduled a tour with this apartment and no one ever showed. I waited 30 minutes called multiple times. They wasted my time. I think the person who texts and emails for appointments is an automated system and it's clearly not in sync with their leasing agent. They are disorganized. read more

I loved living here! I'm definitely going to miss this gem I felt like a Princess everyday. Everyone who lived in the building was really kind, bcuz the people were happy to be apart of this little gated community. Alex the apartment manager has always attended to everyone's requests! He did everything I asked in a very timely manner. Most things that needed maintenance were fixed day of request unless we had to wait for a part which of course is out of his control. He was always super friendly and always wanted to help!! Also for being a studio it was MASSIVE! the biggest one that I could find!!! I had a huge coat closet, a huge closet where all my shirts and dresses hung and a vanity with build in drawers and a little rack, built in desk. Cutest set up! Large space. I loved that my dinning room and kitchen were separated in my studio. I didn't wake up in my kitchen haha, I could actually walk to the kitchen. Which is very hard to find. Most studios are very crammed. read more

The Ancelle Apartments. When I first discovered this place I was ecstatic. I had searched high and low for apartments, writing down 10's and 20's of properties and phone numbers in my notebook. This one wasn't in it. I happened to drive by while looking at other apartments I hardly liked. I was almost choosing to settle with one until the manager there, Alex gave me chance. I'd happen to called the number in the front. We agree'd to schedule an appointment later in the week but I told him I was still in the area. It was around 5:50 and he was clocking out at six when I told him I could make it back. I just wanted to see the apartment after googling the name of the place and almost pretend fell in love with the hundreds of other listings I came across. (Common side effect of apartment hunting) But this place was different when I walked in. Thanks to him, I was able to make my mind up that night and went ahead to decide upon move in. The atmosphere of the place is sort've like a Manhattan/New York apartment with Los Angeles sunlight and a breeze flowing through rooms. The brick walls create the perfect accent to the place as soon as you walk in, which is perfect for a bohemian style setup if you're into green plants to contrast the shiny dark wood floors here. Well at least my apartment, I don't know about the rest and what they like. They could've been thinking contemporary modern. Your creativity counts anywhere you go per say. Walking through the gate, sounds of the gentle water fountain propelle you into the perfect atmosphere, mixed with the greenery in front of the building. The vines on the wall give a sense of privacy, but the updated cameras on site and double door entrance also let's you know this is a secure and up to date place. There's also a concierge, in which I use that word a lot now that I can have my own! When I first walked in my apartment I noticed the new light fixtures and everything else in here was either clean or new. The property management team is really nice, even over the phone and they understand what it is to be human and communicate efficiently. Not just answer the phone and say "hold on". You feel like part of something great when you live here and I'm really glad Alex and the rest of management gave me a opportunity to live here. You really won't find a place like this often. Classic and respectful all around. I just got my new stove so I'll gladly be cooking smell good meals in this place all the time! If you see a place vacant here I wouldn't hesitate. This place is a gem and I thank God for putting this place here for me to experience. Feels like you move through time when you're asleep. Plus, everything is .05 miles away in case I'm hungry and decide to sleep walk! (Lol, jokes) I do love boba though! Overall? Greatly recommended and a fantastic place. Wouldn't trade it for no other. Even if I had a mansion I'd want half of it to feel like this. My wife can decide the other half.. - Flowers :) read more

First of all, it's a very beautiful 1920s building, with high ceilings, exposed brick walls in the apartments, and a very spacious front yard, with a fountain and a lawn. There are lemon and avocado trees, and tenants are welcome to pick up the fruits if they want to. I usually do, but I only pick up lemons, because the squirrels are faster than us with avocados ! There is a spacious beautiful lobby in the building, where sometimes people just sit on the couch and read, or just relaxing. I've been living in this building for four years, and made friends with a lot of neighbors. You know, the tenants are mostly working millennials - singles, and some couples, LGBTQ. Mostly the neighbors are very nice people, it's easy to make friends here. The ones that are searching for conflicts, or complain about other neighbors, usually somehow don't stay long. Service/ emotional support dogs are allowed (have all the paperwork ready though). Mostly there are studios here, I visited a lot of them, some are smaller, some are very big, there are 1 bedrooms, too. All of them have new stoves and fridges every time a new tenants moves in. Some have dishwashers. Moss and Company, who owns the building, are doing absolutely fabulous job on maintaining the building. There is a laundry room in the basement, with 4 washers and 6 dryers. Well, I wish parking was better: the assigned parking spaces are very limited, you have to get on a wait list to get yours, and then you pay monthly for the spot. I hope that maybe you guys will buy more land somewhere around, to build a bigger parking lot, and include it with the rent. In the meantime, people learn over time, how to park in the neighborhood - there are secret places where it's easy, so you can ask me, if you want, and I'll share with you. But if you come home late at night, it might become a problem. I'm not driving at the moment, so I don't care too much about the parking, but can definitely see the amazing benefits of the location: it's 1 minute from Wilshire with many coffee shops and Asian restaurants, and there will only be more of them, as two new beautiful building have just been constructed, so probably something new will open on the ground floor at least of one of them. Ralph's is 2 blocks away, Drive-in McDonalds - just for the emergency cases, - too: it's open 24/7. Starbucks, CVS, Coffe Bean and Leaf, Jumba Juice, metro station - everything is a short walking distance. And now the best part. Which is - the new manager of our building, Eddie. He started just recently, in January 2020, but we all agree already - we, the tenants, that he is absolutely an outstanding manager. Really. Personally, he is very nice, classy, always impeccably looking, his attitude is always positive, and he SOLVES PROBLEMS. Fast and elegantly. It so just happened, that I've got a huge problem in my apartment, which was no one's fault. Sometimes things happen, you know... Eddie took it in his hands, and solved the very thing in no time. He ALWAYS answered my calls, although I called every five minutes to ask him about the updates. He was very nice and patient, and took care of everything. After the problem was solved, I also noted that my fridge is leaking. He came immediately with the mainenance guys (and that's another bonus of Ancelle: our maintenance and cleaning team. They are fabulous, and doing their jobs 100%!), and they got me a new fridge. I'll repeat: IMMEDIATELY. I love Ancelle, love our building and our community. Maybe one day we'll get an additional parking lot, and maybe - dreams, dreams, - even a swimming pool, where we could all gather for each other's birthdays . I highly recommend Ancelle, especially now that we have Eddie as our manager. 5 stars! read more

oh, anchelly. how i loved thee. i lived here from 2007-2009, and i count it as one of the greatest parts of my life. the building manager, luvie (aka deborah) took me under her wing and made sure i was well taken care of. she even set me up with the new hottie in the building, after she vetted him in the courtyard with a can of newcastle in one hand and a ciggie in the other. the hottie and i dated for a while, and then became great friends; sharing glances across the courtyard and making sure we weren't parked on the wrong sides of the street for sweeping days. a kind, wise and motherly brit, luvie was a gem. i spent hours wandering koreatown, documenting everything for my family back home. i ate at the tiny korean dive around the corner, the pho place next door (with korean soap operas on 24-7), and wandered down to manna KBBQ at least once a week with a bevy of crazy friends. we would spend hours piled on my floor watching british comedy and experimental films by cinema majors, inhaling korean cold noodles and drinking champagne as the courtyard burbled quietly all evening. the week before i left LA for good, i hired a taco cart to sit in the courtyard pavilion and serve tacos al pastor, while dear friends and family drank cheap korean beer amidst the palms. if you are looking for a diamond in the rough, live here. it's an oasis in the coolest neighborhood in town. read more

I loved living in the Ancelle! So much history and I love the management staff. It's right by the grocery store and in the heart of Koreatown near the Wiltern Theater. There's a beautiful fountain out front. I would totally live there again if I wasn't in New York. read more

This review is for Amy L, manager for Ancelle Apts. She is hands down one of the most fantastic landlords I've ever had! She has taken excellent care of me from day one. I was pleased with the way she listed/advertised the available unit on Westside Rentals, along with her assertiveness in responding to my inquiry in her open unit. She did a great job selling the unit to me without being pushy or overbearing. She also took my finances into consideration and that was a major plus for me. She also made me feel welcomed and that was refreshing to say the least. Signing a lease with her was a no brainer. I'm happy with the way she handled my lease agreement, as well as offering to clarify any areas of uncertainty within the agreement. She got my new apt ready really quickly and worked around my schedule the entire time. Knowing she works multiple jobs while tending to many residents, I found her behavior from the beginning to be noteworthy and commendable. She always responds to my emails very quickly (answering multiple, meticulous questions at a time) and has rectified any maintenance or other misc. issue that I've had. She isn't the type of landlord that is close-minded and difficult to work with. She's gone above and beyond what any other landlord has ever done for me in the past. Ancelle in general is very unique and has a lot of history. It's a beautiful building with a great fountain, exposed brick walls, cool dogs, and great people. I feel like I found more of a home and less of an apt. Parking isn't the best but that's a notorious LA issue that I can't blame anyone but the city for. To conclude, Amy's got a great attitude and is genuinely a nice person. She definitely cares about the building, her tenants, and believes in the product she represents.
