    Steak and chicken fajitas

Had a big group for an impromptu Sunday dinner. We were seated immediately. The servers were patient as it took us a while to decide what we wanted. The Paloma was delicious, I had two! We shared the fajitas and it was plenty of food. They let us have both steak and chicken.

If you like Talavera on Solano this place has the same level of accuracy and consitency with authenticity in a formal dining toomm(compared to talavera) The mother and son duo now have two spots on Solano. Totally worth it. Luckily they still sell the mole poblano here too but it's a different spin and menu otherwise cause it's a different chef. I had the to chilaquiles anahuac with carnitas. Huge portion and they were requisite. Guerrero MX style They offer great happy hour weekdays 3-5 and brunch menus are delicious everything. From chicken and waffles to chilaquiles anahuac **next I wanna try the octopus tacos with black tortilla (squid ink) by chef Jorge Reyes.

This is a new place on Solano Ave. where Fonda used to be. I came and had a few drinks and oysters. The drink was delicious, I had the Butterly but with tequila instead of mezcal. It was a GREAT balance and served with an edible flower, thanks to Alberto the bartender! The oysters came with three sauces: a chimichurri, a house salsa, and a salsa negra (that was a unique blend with soy sauce maybe?!) I put all three on each oysters and it was so flavorful and completed the oyster well. I will be back to try their food! But the service was attentive and the ambiance is very similar to the old place. Also, there's an upstairs with TV's with more of a lounge feel and intimated tables near the front (if you were familiar with Fonda, you know the setup and vibes). Lastly, they have a GREAT playlist playing in the background on low so it doesn't compete with the rest of the experience. They even gave me Chapulines to try with sal de gusanito IYKYK! 10/10 recommend.

Wow.....amazing restaurant serving their version of Mexican food dishes. We , a group of 3, arrived with no reservation on a Monday noon time. We were greeted by the only server who was a hospitable as one would expect. There were several appetizing dishes to consider but I opted for the Anahuac chilequiles. I chose this dish to come with a skirt steak option. Other options were chicken and carnitas. My dish came out in a molcajete. So imagine a 3-egg scramble (my Preference) sitting on a bed of refried beans with skirt steak, tortilla chips, chile rojo and sliced avocado...I thought there is no way I can eat this all but I did, slowly, and it was delicious.

Yay! They opened. I used to come to Fonda, the former restaurant in this spot so I'm half Anahuac took over. We came during the soft opening and there were so many attentive servers. We came later night and had already eaten so we just had guac and chips, ceviche and drinks. The cocktails we had were very good. We had the Cantarito, Casuelita and a specially made spicy margarita with mezcal. Everyone is so friendly and happy. It's a joyful place with a good vibe. I love how they added TVs upstairs. TVs to watch the game in Albany is very limited. Can't wait to go back and try more of the food and of course more drinks!

I had been in for dinner and enjoyed the food and service. Decided to try brunch, we both had huevos rancheros. Absolutely delicious!!! Everything was hot and fresh. Other than a minor communication glitch when ordering my cocktail (got to say SOMETHING negative), that was quickly resolved; this was an absolutely wonderful brunch experience. As a side note we really enjoyed the music.

This isn't your regular Mexican restaurant. It has a more extensive menu and is a bit more upscale. I had an East Brother Mexican lager which was so-so and guacamole and chips. The guacamole was a generous portion so much that I had to ask for more chips that were provided for no additional cost. The chips were homemade and thick which I really liked. The only downside was that I thought some of them were old and a bit chewy instead of crispy. As an appetizer I had the tostaditas which I thought were nice to snack on. It came with a total of three. As a main entree I enjoyed the enchilada suizas using chicken. I never had this before but it was definitely a cut above regular enchiladas. The server said they were very popular and I can see why. The interior was nice. We sat on the ground floor by the window. A good table selection. They also have upstairs dining. One real drag was getting a reservation. Nowhere could I find where to make a reservation. Also operating hours I couldn't find either. They need to fix this. Other than that I'll be back. Good service and good food.

The food was delicious! A very good huevos ranchers. The portion size was also very good. We left full with a doggy bag. Only two dishes tried so far but we'll return to try more! Service was excellent! Very nice ambiance. Modern with a Mexican flair.

Way too expensive here and not enough real vegan options to interest me. Menu needs adjustment.

Order at counter - seating options are mainly outside on the patio with just a few tables inside. Chips aren't included in the order unfortunately, but worth it to spend a few bucks on chips and salsa! The burritos here are hefty, try them with the carnitas. Not too oily, crisp edges and tender in the middle... the dream. Their fried fish tacos are FRESHLY fried which is a world of difference - hefty portion. I tend to get their grande tacos, they're a meal in itself. A good way to try their different meats too! Their menudo is something special, worth the price with an ample helping of tripe and fresh veg. Can't go wrong here. Kind workers, great outdoor ambiance especially with summer coming up, and good prices compared to many other berkeley spots.

For lunch, I usually get a veggie burrito with extra pico, guacamole, and sour cream. It's $17 and change, but I get two meals out of it (unless my husband gets to the leftovers before me). Plus they have this lovely outdoor patio with tables both in the shade and sun and complimentary green and red salsa. Best of all - they allow dogs!! That factor alone puts this place in my top three or maybe even top two lunch spots in Berkeley, lol. Our doggie soaks up the attention of the dozens of adoring fans.

I called them and they asked me to come back for a replacement. It took about five minutes, and they were very kind about it. They also gave me an agua fresca to make up for the short wait, which I really appreciated. Mistakes can happen anywhere, and what matters is how they're handled here...they take care of you. I still feel that way, but recently I reserved a table for 4 and two things really stuck in my mind negatively after spending the evening there that wanted to alert the restaurant to. I worked in restaurants for 15 years so I know not every day is your best, and that getting things right is the first priority, not schmoozing, so this isn't about friendliness. The server was fine in terms of checking up on us, but didn't engage our request for recommendations for dinner or wine; no biggie, but when the check came she a) didn't mention that the tip was included, and my generous boyfriend (who wanted to snag the card and pay quickly without letting others get a chance) would have tipped another $80 had I not gotten up from the table and asked whether tip was included. On large checks the server should tell the group immediately not to worry about calculating the tip, and still act like she is earning it by taking good care of the table, refilling wine glasses when we ordered a bottle, etc. what really got me though was when we requested -- she didn't offer-- the remaining food on the table to go, she came with two piles of boxes and put them on the edge of the table. Again, my no-fuss boyfriend said he didn't mind packing the food up, but I think if you spend $450 on a dinner they could at least offer to neatly pack the food to go. It's a chore that I want to leave at home, plus it can be messy. It annoyed me a lot that the money we spent didn't seem to be appreciated and we had to basically clean up our table at the end. Not a good service night. Can you make it a policy to at least offer to pack the food? Comal isn't that type of pandemic restaurant that drops customer service in favor of pretend hygiene, and I just wonder if the standards are slipping or it was just a one off
