I love being able to make a short drive to this cute little park to walk/run/ride/bird the trail. There's a lot of shade on the trail which I love. I hate being out under the sun so I can use alllll the shade! There are several entrances to this place depending on what you want to do. The South St side is a better one for birding. There's parking on one end and residential on another end. Great place to have your leisure walks by yourself or with your dog. read more

A date wanted to bring me here, but we ended up going to another local park. I wish we came here instead because it's a romantic place. Other than the fact there was poop on the trail. It feels like an estuary, but the fencing does kind of take away from its natural beauty. I see a lot of birds near the water--it says they built an island for them. Right now in the fall/winter, the weather is pretty nice. It is still kind of warm, but there is a pleasant view of the mountains. Definitely bring water because I'm going to frank about the safety. For whatever reason, I don't want to venture too far from my car because there's not a lot of people around, so I'm worried my car might get stolen. But other than that, I like that it's secluded and quiet. I only saw a few people, so it's very peaceful. If you need to use the restroom and you park near on S Rio Vista, prepare to go for a stroll before you hit the toilets. I had to run a bit to get there. I guess I could have parked near the other ones, but I wanted to get more steps in, I suppose. This place has a nice paved trail great for bicyclists, with plenty of parking on the street. There's almost no one here on a weekday afternoon. The only thing is I wish the entire path was a loop. It feels a little strange that it's a line going up and down. read more

I feel really sad to write this review, and even worse that I may have to part ways with this trail. Anaheim Coves Trail has really grown on me as my daily running trail. The trail is fast, easy, and you never get tired of running with outdoor with views. However, last week my car got broken into. What makes me sad is that there were so many other cars parked, and also that their parking lot is right next to an apartment complex. Whoever broke into my car felt confident enough to break in despite the environment not being empty. I wish the city would enforce some type of security, as I will miss my morning runs here. Be sure to not leave any valuable possessions or your wallet, because once you go into the trail, you will not come back out for about 3 miles. I did see a van parked facing cars coming in, so I am suspecting it was likely this man. Please be cautious, I would hate for this to happen to anyone else read more

Nice, scenic place to go for a bike ride or a stroll. I went here on Sunday evening and it was peacefully quiet. There weren't many people around during that time. There is a designated biking trail with a good amount of space for bikers to comfortably move around safely. There were also multiple benches along the trail to sit and rest. I really appreciate how clean and well kept this place was, I didn't see any trash on the trail at all. Along the trail, you can see the Santa Ana River with the mountains far in the background, it is truly scenic. There is free street parking alongside the fence and there was plenty of parking available. I definitely recommend coming here for a peaceful bike ride or stroll. read more

Review is for the 888 rio vista part of the trail which had plenty of street parking at 9 am on a weekend. Overall this area seems like a nice place to go bike riding and for a simple walk on a paved surface. People were friendly and it was very new looking and well maintained. This address leads you to a trail where you walk on a paved road the entire time and the Santa Ana river is blocked by a large fence along the entire length we were on. Some of the yelp pictures that look more like a cool dirt trail are the mini path from street to the paved hiking trail and are not representative of the entire Anaheim Coves. Some of the cool pictures of the river were shot through the fence, we didn't see any way to get to the river at the entrance we parked at. My son was bored pretty quickly and we left in about 30 minutes. He probably would have loved it more if he was riding his bike. On the side of the trail there is also a lot of dog poo, please clean up after yourself! Kids and other animals like to run off the paved part. read more

Easy out-and-back that's paved for both walkers/runners and cyclists. Parking is free and located past the driving range parking lot. The trail is about 3 miles from end to end. There were a few alternate paths you could take that were made of compact dirt, but the path is primarily asphalt. The trail meanders around the reservoir, and we did notice that there were some cyclist paths on the other side of where we were. There are a few benches if you needed to sit and small spaces for exercisers. There's apparently an app you could use as part of the fitness trail. Bathrooms are available at both ends of the trail, and were very clean. There was a good amount of people, but it wasn't as crowded as I was expecting. This is a good path for families and small kids/babies in strollers could be taken on the trail. Overall, a very easy way to take a leisurely walk/easy run and get some sunshine. read more

In a 26 acre park, easy to walk, jog or bike the flat paved 2.5 mile trail around the fenced reservoir. Unfortunately this black chained fence compromises the view of the large reservoir. Allow an hour to walk the route. Parking & Bathrooms at 1. S Phoenix Club Dr (SE side of the trail and can enter via E Ball Rd just east of Island Golf Center ) 2. Beautiful and so peaceful! A bit of a hidden gem in the city of Anaheim nestled in a residential area. Maybe it was the time, but I only encountered one couple walking their dogs. The trail is paved, but I did notice a discrete dirt path but decided against it this time. It was a straight path, which is good for jogging and low impact walking Only issue is that I could not locate the bathrooms. I plan to return for a much longer hike next time to enjoy all the beauty this hike has to offer. read more

Great park for walkers joggers runners bicycles . It's a fast trail, with little up or down hills. Two parking areas, one by golf area , small will lit a restroom, but will lock up after sunset (ball st) the other is on rio vista where you can easily park all day. Trail can be 2.5 to 3 miles for a full circle along the water canal or if you travel north to glassell or 91 freeway you can make it into a 5 to 6 mile adventure. Sunset activities are great, many people on the trails . Relaxing and soothing times. One thing that can be annoying, would be the mosquitoes that are along water line... read more

I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS PLACE! Walking through the Anaheim Coves is like stepping out of Anaheim and walking into another world. I'm an Anaheim native so trust me when I say this trail and coves are so impressive!!! It's a dog/family/bike/stroller/morning stroll friendly kind of place. The pictures that people have posted don't even do it justice! The paved trail might not be eternal but you can always turn around and keep running on the other side. The bunnies, birds, ducks make you forget you're in a metropolitan area and help you step into nature and really disconnect. People are so friendly when they walk through here, everyone says "good morning!" They provide benches, postings with Anaheim historical facts, and dog poopie bags (use them!) Warning: Some people don't pick up their dog's poop after they poop on the pavement so just watch out. read more

Very nice and relaxing trail by the water! Anaheim Coves is a very lovely quiet paved trail by the Santa Ana River. The waterfront is fenced off but there's lots of greenery on the sides of the paved path. There are a couple of dirt path inclines that are nice for taking a rest or taking in the scenery as well as multiple entrances to the path from the street. There's spacious street parking by the multiple openings and it's very easy to get to. Would definitely recommend coming here for some fresh air and peace and quiet! read more

It's a beautiful quiet spot for a walk in an otherwise busy city. We're always looking for places to connect with nature. And it's been difficult living in Anaheim as most of the area is commercialized with huge buildings and shopping malls. However, this rare trail is the perfect spot for a small walk to escape from the hustle and bustle, and just connect with yourself. Once you get to the location, there is free street parking (which can be a little overcrowded during the weekends). You then enter a gate where concrete walks mix with sand areas and rocks to give an authentic feel. On the one side there are ample trees and shrubs as to block out the roads and houses and all other noise. And the other side has a large body of water that's been unfortunately blocked off by a rather ugly-looking black fence. If the fence gates were open, this ideal place would become truly inspiring. Maybe the city will take notice and create a small recreation area next to the water one day... who knows? I can only hope. read more

Well-maintained, man-made place for a run. Yes, friends - my husband and I are those crazy travelers who go out of their way to find places to walk, run and/or hike when traveling. /shrug At any rate, we visited on a Sunday morning in March. The trails were popular, but people tried to stay as socially-distanced as possible, and there is enough space to give a wide berth if needed. It's a paved, easy-to-follow out and back loop, but there's not a lot of shade, so it got hot quick. Part of the path circles what I took to be a man-made lake, which was the home to a variety of birds. (I was running, so didn't have time to stop for pictures or to bird watch, so I only know that they were birds - the flying kind, and the water-loving kind - and there were plenty of them). I can see why it's a popular spot for locals. It's a relatively level path, with a couple of gently sloping rises. It's also dog-friendly, which is always a plus in my book. Anyway, good spot for a quick run (I think we ended up logging over 6 miles when it was all said and done), but doesn't offer anything strenuous, if that's what you're after. read more

Sadly, this park is one of Anaheim's best kept secrets. I had no idea it existed. That's changed; at least it has with my friends and family. It's really cool that you can be right in the city of Anaheim and bam, all of a sudden, you're in a quiet, peaceful, chill place. Clarification, it's not exactly a park with grass and playgrounds for the kids. Rather, it is a great place to go to if you want to get away from the city and go for a walk, jog, bike ride, or walk your dog. It has more than one entrance (I'm not sure how many exactly). I went for a walk with my dog Chico. But I made the mistake to go on a super hot day and had to leave sooner than what I would have wanted to. I will be back again most definitely. 5 stars. read more

I parked right next to the Cove Church and entered through there. I walked north toward Lincoln and exited onto the street. I walked on Lincoln for a bit and then entered the hiking/bike trail on the other side and went south. I exited at Ball and walked a little on Ball and then entered the cove from the South side. The entire thing is about 3.5 miles. It's very flat. Nice for a run or quick jog. Go early because the path has limited shade. It wasn't too crowded to social distance. The Santa Ana river is pretty much dry in the summer. The river smell can be strong too. But it's really a nice walk. read more

Came here to walk my dog on a cool Sunday afternoon. There was a lot of street parking right near the church. This was a very nice trail and was not crowded. There are doggy bag stations and benches throughout the walk. Some downsides here: Lots of poop left behind, so be careful where you walk. There is also no shade whatsoever. I would not recommend coming here on a hot day since most of the trail is asphalt. read more

Really great trail for cyclists and pedestrians that connects to the Santa Ana River Trail. The park is well maintained, but my issue is with the rangers that oversee the park. The whole trail is maybe 2 miles long, and the rangers will drive a Tacoma up and down the trail. It leaves barely 1.5' clearance to go around their truck. It's especially unsafe for dog walkers and cyclists. I don't understand why they don't use a golf cart, which is much smaller, slower and safer... not to mention way less likely to cause serious bodily harm if you hit someone on the trail. Also, the rangers arbitrarily lock up the gates early sometimes. It's supposed to be dawn to dusk, but they'll randomly close it 20-30 minutes prior to the *start* of sunset on occasion. Today, the ranger closed the trail 30 minutes prior to sunset, and he drove past us as we walked toward the gate he just locked. His window was rolled down, and I even said hello to him as he passed me. He could have taken this opportunity to let me (and the 5 groups of people behind me) know that he just locked the gate behind him, but he didn't. Instead, he let us walk to end, find out ourselves and have to turn all the way around. Unlike him, I chose to be courteous and let everyone I passed know that the gate had been locked early. They were surprised but thankful for the heads up. I finally got to the other end, and guess who was parked in the middle of the trail waiting for everyone to get out? The same jerk of a ranger. I let him know as I passed him the second time that he could have saved everyone a lot of trouble by simply informing them that he had locked the gate. He was just scrolling on his phone. Great park run by crummy rangers. read more

Nice place to walk if you have a dog whose hair is prone to picking up twigs and everything since the trail is asphalt. Also, my parents had a relatively easy time walking here since the road is pretty flat. Downside was that there isn't much of a view with the fence being mostly covered, and that there was basically only one available restroom (at the entrance) when we went. There was a restroom at the end, but both men and women's rooms were locked. We heard flushing multiple times, so we knew there was someone inside. No matter how long we waited, no one came out from either room. Not even after my mom tried to open the door and the person inside told her to stop. I suspect they might be using the restroom as a free place to stay...much less to say, my mom had to make a mad dash for the restroom at the entrance. Despite that strange experience, we all agree that we would like to visit here again for the other trail. read more

But there's a patrol car that goes through the trail a couple times a day which ensures safety. The Anaheim Coves is a 6 million dollar, 12 acre project in Anaheim that opened back in 2011. There are currently three main entrances (Ball, Lincoln or Rio Vista) and there are full bathroom facilities, bike racks and parking on both ends of the trail. The Lincoln entrances has 14 parking spaces while the Ball entrance (near the gold course) has 11 more, parking off Rio Vista is curbside within the housing tracks. The trail itself runs 1.5 miles in total length so if you park on one end or the other you will get in a 3 mile walk if you complete the entire thing which is nice. The trail also features 4 rest area/observation points overlooking the basin, 6 kiosk displays displaying information on the basin, bird population and habitats, water consumption and other informative facts relating to the area. There trail also links up via pathways on both ends to the Santa Ana River Trail that runs parallel. The trail itself is paved and flat throughout so it's an easy walk and nothing strenuous and bikes are also welcome. During each of my visits it has never been busy so it leaves plenty of room to maneuver your way through. Please take note of the signs warning of snakes, hawks, ticks and other dangers that could be lurking around if you stray from the beaten path. On your journey down the path you will see a large variety of different birds as there are over 190 species that have been documented in the area. Some of the species include: Pelicans, California Terns, Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Stilts, Avocets & Skimmers to name a few. There are plenty of opportunities for you to bird watch or get some good photos at the observation areas. The trail itself may be short in length but it features a nicely kept pathway, is dog friendly, has clean facilities and plenty of areas to simply stop and take in the sights. It is located just a few miles from home so this will be a place I will definitely hit up semi-regularly on the weekends for some quick morning exercise. read more

But the view is beautiful, outdoor trail and it's Pet friendly, water stations and poop baggies and I noticed rest areas too. I didn't even know that this place existed until I saw a fellow Yelper post some photos. Yelp is great like that. While I still look for a closer trail to my home, this one isn't too far. I would say that it is around a mile and a half one way. If you walk both ways, which most of us would need to considering you had to park your car, you would walk about three miles if you do the whole thing. It's dog friendly, but poop bags are only at one end. Be sure to bring some with you! Keep them on the path as there are areas that could have ticks or something else nearby. It's a simple trail/path, one direction. There are occasional spots where you can go off the path for a rest on the bench or sit on a rock, read the information signs about the plants and animals, etc. It's next to a lake that is fenced in. The whole way you are walking on a bike path, so luckily for me as well as some others it is not currently that well known, or at least if it is, it's still fairly quiet. Too often I try to have a nice walk on other trails and the bikes come every two seconds and even get rude for being in the way of "their" trail. Everyone that I saw on this trip kept to themselves, bike rides were nice and just went around us, etc. The downfall for me is that you have to stay on that path. There is tall grass and even signs warning you not to get off the path and has pictures of things jumping off plants. The thought of ticks and being nearby is not too great. Different animals could be lurking nearby such as storks, squirrels, rabbits, snakes (not sure what kind but don't care to see any), etc. We saw some storks in the trees and a few bunnies on the other side of the fence. Parking is easy. There are a few spots near the golf area nearby, but there is plenty on Rio Vista to park against the curb. I will have to walk on this when I can. read more
