Hilgenfeld Mortuary

There are suddenly so many things to do when a loved one dies unexpectedly, and they walked us through EVERY detail. Ydiera, who we were working with, was so sensitive and sincere and did not try to "upsell" us or sell us anything we didnt need at our most vulnerable time. I truly believe that God graced us with Ydiera when we needed it most. Again, there are lots of decisions that need to be made, and choosing Hilgenfeld was the best one we could have done. Thank you, Ydiera.

When I reached out to John Huh, he not only meticulously arranged everything but also showed deep compassion, understanding, patience, flexibility, and empathy throughout the whole process, bringing comfort to our family. John explained things clearly, provided step-by-step instructions, and did his best to save us as much money as possible. He was very organized, trustworthy, reliable, and on top of everything. I did not have to worry about whether things were being done thoroughly and on time; he made the process seamless. Recently, in 2025, when my dad passed away out of state, John Huh again stepped in and provided excellent care. He researched the best way for the out-of-state transfer and coordinated care with other third parties, which ultimately saved us thousands of dollars. More importantly, in honor of my dad, he and his staff personally picked up my dad's remains from out of state and brought them back to California, where my dad was supposed to be buried. Our family felt genuinely cared for. I will undoubtedly use his services again in the future, and I highly recommend his services to others as well. John Huh will put your mind at ease, as he delivers excellent, compassionate service!

We do wish the…read morefacility would've been a little better cared for and the operations just a little more professional. Leslie was so sweet and soft spoken I actually wished for a little more brusque professionalism. However, I overheard someone else's similar intake conversation with a different associate and was glad for Leslie's competence. She answered most of our questions easily and was able to find the answers she didn't immediately know. When we walked the grounds on our own to see if and where we might want to bury our daughter, we were stopped by one of the groundskeepers to ask if we needed help finding or tending a grave. He was so kind and we were amazed by his care and attention. When we decided to use their cremation services instead, we were quoted certain pricing over the phone (by Linda) that they were, ultimately and unfortunately, not willing to honor. I didn't have the heart to quibble over $75 when I was mourning the loss of my daughter, so we let it slide. During the intake conversation it seemed Leslie was obligated to show us their showroom even though we told her we would be making the urn. She wasn't rude. Just made us aware that we would be seeing the showroom before we left (even though we didn't need it). Still, she didn't hound us to purchase anything or choose any particular options. Also during the intake conversation, there was a service in session in the connected chapel. There was chanting and incense and it carried strongly into the connected funeral home and offices. It gave us both headaches from the strength of the noise and scent. So we wish the offices were kept a little more separate to avoid the discomfort. The funeral home itself is so charming, but in definite disrepair. It's a colonial establishment and theme and we both loved it. However, the carpet is rippled, the walls and baseboards have gouges and dings, and the bathrooms are old and dirty. I absolutely loved the atrium space with the fountain and flowers. I spent most of my time looking out the windows at the atrium while we waited for the paperwork to be copied and verified. The small but beautiful atrium soothed my soul. We chose to attend the cremation. Leslie walked us back and the crematory manager, Eric, met us and explained the process. It was 96 degrees outside and the room didn't have air conditioning so everyone was uncomfortable. But Eric still wore his suit coat and didn't rush us. Told us to take as much time as we needed. He handed me tissues when I was overwhelmed and the told stories to try to raise my spirits. I understood the kindness and empathy and generosity of spirit behind his actions. We ultimately waited in the lobby for the duration of the cremation. This is where we found out that a lot of business is conducted out in the lobby for anyone to witness. That was the unprofessional part. I even hate to mention it because the staff was always so compassionate toward us. But the business should've been handled elsewhere. We got to hear everyone's personal business. The manager came and spent some time with us again while we waited and told more stories and really showed such kindness and compassion. When we picked up her ashes, the manager met us again and brought her ashes out himself and spent more time chatting and making sure we were happy with the way things turned out that were within our control. Overall, I would recommend Brea Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it's not the most professional establishment, but the employees are good and compassionate people. Eric is so kind. I'd also mention the funeral home is in a bit of disrepair. However, the grounds are peaceful and pleasant and have been in great repair each time we've visited.

My mom passed away at the end of March, and I was completely lost on where to even begin. A close friend referred me to Guillermo, and after going through the process with him, she even told me she wished she had used Accu-Care for her own family because of their pricing and the services they provide. From start to finish, Guillermo was compassionate, calm, and incredibly helpful. He walked me through every step - from coordinating with the church I preferred, to scheduling the viewing, the memorial service, and everything in between and after (cremation). He answered all my questions patiently and never once made me feel pressured into any upgrades. He truly provided everything I wanted and needed to honor my mom, without adding any stress during an already emotional time. I did reach out to a few other companies, but Accu-Care's pricing was by far the most reasonable, and the level of service I received made me feel at peace with my decision. Planning something so sensitive and important felt manageable because of Guillermo's professionalism and kind demeanor. I wholeheartedly recommend using Accu-Care, Cremation and Funerals. If you're in a difficult place and don't know where to start, start with them - you'll be in good hands.

I live on the other side of the country....I didn't know who to call or rely on for this service, as there are so many to choose. Reflections Funeral services came recommended to me from hospital staff (Reflections services are apparently well known). I called and Alfonzo immediately answered, His courtesy and (seemingly) genuine concern was comforting. Alfonzo (subsequently) answered his phone nearly every call I placed, when he was unable, he got back to me very quickly. The thought of entering a mortuary was not an experience I was keen to pursue. Alfonzo and his wife were very kind and compassionate ,... They too understand the afflicting loss of close family members. Alfonzo met with me on more than one occasion at locations and times that was most convenient, as my time (like most) was limited. All my questions were answered, there was ease of process with no pressure or hard sell of anything. Reflections offers a service that most typically doesn't ponder till fate reveals it's presence and thrusts severity into one's life. Their professionalism and patience made this circumstance amiable,.... such travesty will allow. Reflections are a blessing and I would recommend their services to anyone (unfortunate enough) to need them.
