Exploring some shops in LES, I walked into An Me since some Sonny Angel* figurines in their window caught my eye. Inside the store a variety of toys and collectibles, children's apparel and accessories, lined the walls and filled the center displays. I'd say about forty percent of the store consists of young children's accessories, apparel and developmental toys. The rest of the store is focused on toys that could be children's toys though also considered collectibles for most adults. These include Sonny Angel, smiski, Miffy, Calico Critters, Totoro, Hello Kitty, Snoopy and Woodstock, and Monchichi, in plush, keychain, miniature and regular size forms. I appreciated their assortment of nostalgic 80-90s mini toys, like plastic dinosaurs, bouncy balls with glitter, knick knacks you might find in an 80s kids birthday party goodie bag. The staff seemed attentive when I walked in, one person on the floor, straightening merchandise, saying welcome to people as they walked in, also asking if anyone needed help, another staff member behind the counter in the back. *These mini baby dolls wearing nothing but different hats and head gear (not the orthodontic kind, more like cute animal ears or flowers on their heads) have been blowing up and seems like so many gen-Zers are collecting them. read more

The employees (or one employee and her friend) were too busy chatting it up to help me with a question -- when I finally got to ask, if some of the top shelf toys were for sale, I was simply told "No." The worst part was, when my daughter walked up to make a purchase, she was completely ignored while the two continued chatting -- then when an adult customer walked up, the cashier proceeded to help her right away. My daughter was stunned. She put the toys back on the shelf and we walked out. Anyway, I'm happy to not give this store any money. I shop at both this and the West Village location. If you or people in your life are fans of Calico Critters, monchichi or Sonny Angel this is the place to come. I love this store and its customers, it's a real haven for all things kawaii and collectible. We decided to come to the East Village location as we were having a day in the area to try our luck with the Sonny Angel 20th anniversary Hippers. I really came for Dreaming series, but they were sold out. There were not many boxes left, so we crossed our fingers and bought 2 each. I got the sloth and a girl in the shop wanted him sooooo bad, so I traded her for the frenchie she drew. To see her so happy made us more giggly, as we love the reveals more than anything! It was a great start to our day in the neighborhood. We returned later (my friend came back for another Monchichi) and there was a whole new batch of Sonny's were in the cubby space (groans, and slaps forehead). Note: This location is smaller than the West Village location but it is jam packed with cuteness from ceiling to floor. All is well.... there will be more days and more babies for my phone and other spaces. read more

What a fun store! My sister and I stumbled upon An Me as we were walking around the East Village and we were immediately drawn into the nostalgic toys that lined the wall. One of the walls was filled with a ton of boxed collectibles that we've seen all over the internet called Sonny Angels and Smiskis and we decided to get ourselves a Sonny Angel from the dinosaur series. It was so much fun unboxing the toys! The staff working there were super friendly and they were constantly stocking the walls so if you ever stop in and they're not available, check again another time! looooooove this cute little toy shop that allows my inner child to feel comforted and nourished! huge selection of sonny angel's and smiskis here. the owners collection along the wall as decor is breathtaking and impressive!! a good size of options for the miffy lovers in your life as well! from keychains to plushies. great place to shop for gifts for your parent friends, as there's some pretty cute options for boutique style clothes offered here. things here range in affordability--it definitely isn't your run of the mill cheap toy shop. these items are more carefully curated to complement the space and follow recent customer fads and trends. i will say the miffy items are expensive, but the angels and smiskis are averagely priced (which means they're not price gouged). aside from tbathe staff are always SUPER amicable and exceptionally welcoming. i always feel excited to pop in, have a peruse around, and even strike a conversation. a trip to an me is always a glimmering part of my day. please stay open forever! read more

I wanted a unique gift for my niece's birthday and a search on Yelp guided me to here. My friend and I ventured here after lunch at Love Mama. The shop is tiny but stacked with great gift options, ranging from toys to clothes to books. There were so many options that I really didn't know what to get my now two year old niece. Knowing my sister, I opted for a more practical gift! A really nice winter faux fur hat. There's no way a kid's head can grow that much in the next four to five years! The hat was so soft and cute. I wanted one for myself! The woman who was working there (maybe the boss?) was helpful and beautifully wrapped the gift, which then was immersed in a beautiful small bag. The staff here are so welcoming and kind! The cashier that I had was also super friendly and nice. It is a small children's boutique, so it is kind of tiny, but they sell so many different types of toys; sonny angels, smiski's, etc. They have such a huge stock of the sonny angel 20th anniversary hipper collection as well as the sonny angel sweet series! this is a cute store and most of the pricing was fair. BUT customer service is horrible. i didn't hear one hello or thank you while i was in there and the store was over crowded. there's an older lady with glasses that i paid with and after paying i was standing there waiting for at least a thank you or "you're all set", i had to ask her if i the payment went through. she didn't even look at me ONCE, no type of communication or knowledge of customer service. i even heard her saying that she was babysitting the customers in there. read more

I'm not in NYC so I ordered a gift online to be shipped to me. There were issues with USPS, not An Me's fault AT ALL, all my fault. Due to these problems, the package was being returned and I wasn't able to get the gift in time and ordered a new one to have it sooner. I messaged An Me's customer service to explain the situation and if I could get a refund when the first order was returned. They were incredibly nice and understanding, replying within minutes and even after store hours were over. In one email I briefly mentioned that it was a gift and before they sent out my second package they wrapped it up for me. Amazing customer service. The gift I bought was also something that I had been struggling to find elsewhere so they have such a great selection of toys including rare items. Wow! If we could have stayed here forever, we would have. What a beautifully curated selection of funky, unique children's clothing and toys. We literally spent 40 minutes in here because both my daughter and I loved everything! We ended up finding a beautiful Japanese shirt for a very decent boutique price. The icing on the cake was the lovely owner. She was incredibly sweet to my daughter, letting her play with the toys and even giving her a bottle of water when she overheard her say she was thirsty. I absolutely adore this store. They have the cutest things here, complete with quality and design. You can tell each item is hand-picked with love. There are so many things to look at and I could probably spend hours in here but it never feels crowded or stuffed. Even though it caters towards baby and children items, there really is something in there for everyone. I bought a couple of clips and hair ties and there are books too.
