I went to the Talbots Upper Montclair store where I purchased the gift card and brought all receipts, the card and my credit card statement. The store manager, Regina, was very neutral toward me. Meanwhile on the phone with customer service in front of me and laughing with the employee on the other end. They said they have to "look into it" which can take 2 weeks. So they happily took $50 from me and could see that the card had been unused, but could not issue a refund to a customer who has shopped at Talbots for many years. Not to mention how awful it was that I gave my 88 year old mom a gift card which she was unable to use. The store manager behaved as if I had inconvenienced her and it was their mistake. Buyer beware!!

An elderly woman have told me in a very rude manner to move out of the area near the fitting rooms when I was giving my wife a pair of trousers to try. Each fitting room has a door and people can have their privacy in them, so I do not regard the area outside the fitting rooms as a "lady's room" That woman walked around bare feet in the store prancing around for her much younger male companion who was in the store with his dog. She of course did not buy anything :) if the staff should not get involved in issues between customers I think that at least people should not be allowed to walk barefoot in the store and bring in their dogs. It is not a pet store and we are not on the beach. I am sad to say that we will not frequent this establishment again.

For example during the winter (at the time this review was drafted) there are 2 racks full of furs coats, capes, etc they range from mink, fox, rabbit, and beaver....the price range was 60 to upwards of 1000 depending on the coat (remember some full length minks sell for 10,000s) There is also a pretty good handbag selection...this tends to range from no name bags to Gucci, LV, and Chanel This also applies to the shoe section as well. The cloths are lightly used and very well organized, the sizes range from small to plus size... This consignment shop really does have everything!!!

I thought I lucked out because it seemed like a 'cheap sport' (especially after having to buy full lacrosse kits back in the day) - what do you need besides what you already have, right? Wrong. Not only do you need top of the line kicks but you can only really get 'x' amount of miles on them before they're considered 'done' (even if they don't look bad/old/used to the untrained eye). Which is why/how we found Fleet Feet. And before we could even scope out the entire (small) shop we had a clerk helping us out and were immediately smitten (with the professionalism, options/choices, the 'student discount' - every little bit helps, let's be honest - you name it). For a guy that grew up on nothing but Converse low-tops and adidas Sambas (neither was over $50 a pair, and lasted for years!) - I'm relying on my kids' expertise and commitment to all things running that Fleet Feet have earned their PR (look at me trying to pretend to understand what my kids are always yapping about after a race) of 5-stars.

They host a good amount of events each week/month, which are great opportunities to learn more about their products, meet new people, and explore the beautiful Montclair area. As a small, family-owned businesses, you truly feel their efforts in building community and making their customers feel like they are part of the family. I've only been to two events with them (a trail and pancake run) and I already feel like I am part of the Fleet Feet fam. And I know this feeling is shared by so many people as I can tell how well-loved they are by those in their community. I also love shopping here-- their staff is very personable and you really feel like the staff are knowledgeable about their products. Most of all, they just exude passion for running, which is motivating and contagious!
