This place is so cute! I'm trying to start visiting more thrift and consignment shops, and this shop will definitely be in my rotation. The owner Arlene greeted me at the door and was super friendly. She explained that the shop has a mix of preowned and new items and that they've been around for 9 years. The fact that the store is still standing during this pandemic shows that she has a loyal client base that appreciated the quality of the store. My daughter and I visited this shop for the first time today. One of the shop attendants greeted us at the door, and asked if we'd been there before. Since we hadn't, she explained that one side of the store is the boutique, and the other side is the consignment side. She proceeded to tell me that I looked familiar, and then commented to my daughter "you look scary". Mind you, my daughter is a typical looking teenager, with a hoodie and flannel pants on, no makeup, glasses, and in general, pretty unassuming. She then corrected herself (probably because of the look on our faces), and said "oh just kidding, you look fine". My immediate thought was what the heck was that? Teen girls have enough negative messages in the media, telling them they are not good enough, and then an adult makes an ignorant comment such as this one. We stayed for a couple of minutes and then left. EDIT: I've since contacted the owner, who address the situation with the employee, and communicated with me a couple of times, that she wanted to make things right for my daughter. While the employee's comment cannot be unsaid, I appreciate the business owner's concern about what occurred and wanting to make things right for my daughter. read more

Buyer beware! I recently bought a bracelet at Nouvelle, the non-consignment part of this store. My daughter wore the bracelet twice before it broke - fell off her wrist broken while she just sat there. I asked the store owner for a replacement or credit and her reaction was awful and definitely not customer service oriented. She said I could pay for a repair and she would reimburse me for half. I told her that didn't seem fair and that she should stand by the products she sells. She said once an item leaves the store she cannot be responsible for it, blamed my daughter (18) for probably being careless, and proceeded to try convince me of her POV in the most condescending and misguided way. She insisted as a small business owner she can't be on the hook for things that go wrong once items are bought. However, I believe that ESPECIALLY as a small business owner, you need to cherish each and every customer and make sure you're not selling them junk - and she just lost at least one customer in me. Good customer service is really not that hard - don't shop here if you want it. read more

Beautifully curated collection of clothing. Some very unusual, some classic well known designers and some high end classy selections. Shopping with my darling stepdaughter couldn't have been more fun in this comfy environment. The sales woman Mandy was so sweet, helpful, honest and knowledgeable. Just what one wants when fun shopping in a great store. Just be prepared, parking is a challenge in Montclair NJ. But it's worth it. Danger! Every time I go in there, I spend money. Not too much money (sometimes) but there's always something I want. Need! This last time I went in asking if they had wrap dresses. Pffff! Of course they do. Two DVF dresses later I left content. I had a plan, went in there, and completely ignored the Celine handbag in the glass case. So pretty. The staff is super helpful and remember you. Maybe not by name, but by purchase, little facts about your life, etc. They're really on the ball with labels and sizing. They'll also give you a heads up about new inventory or sales. The addition of their website was pretty awesome because you could preview stuff before going in. You can also buy online, but you're doing yourself a disservice by not going to the shop. While this is a consignment store, don't get it twisted. It's not a place with racks on racks of stuff you have to dust off and sift through. It's organized like a boutique and easy to navigate. And they're pretty picky about what they put on the floor, in terms of age and condition. It's not a yard sale, indoors. It's an appraiser who is fashion savvy and will let you know what's what. Also if a piece isn't quite fitting you right. Which is helpful if you go alone and are indecisive. Go there if you know what you want and don't pay retail for nothin'! read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. This place is a rip off! Arlene is so rude. I was sold a Gucci bag for 550$ "on sale" and it was GLUED together! GLUED!! How can this place try have the audacity to sell something in that condition??? It's not the fact that it was glued that bothers me is the fact that they purposefully tried to hide the damage and then claiming that they told me when in fact they never did. I was home visiting family and friends when my best friend was telling me we should go to montclair and check out their consignment shops. So we got Starbucks on church and stumbled into One Savvy design. Thank god! I was in awwe of all the beautiful pieces the store owned. The sales girl came right over to us, and I swear is Bethanny Frankel's NJ twin. She was so nice and within ten minutes I had ten pieces to try on. Now mind you I'm prego and she doesn't sell maternity but was happy to help me find bump friendly pieces. The girl might seriously be the best sales help I have ever had. After chatting and trying stuff on we find out she is the OWNER! She was honest, blunt, and hilariously funny. Arlene, the owner, makes shopping at her shop like shopping with a friend. They just need wine and it might be perfect. I am going back home in two weeks to see family and friends, and I think i might have to visit Arlene and her shop again. Do NOT bring your high-end merchandise there to sell on consignment. I brought my Christian Louboutin shoes that retail for $1,200 there to sell. They said they expected to sell the shoes for $600. Although I followed up with them several times, they told me not to be concerned because the shoes will sell (never mentioning that they were reducing the price drastically). On my last follow up call, I was told that the shoes were still there so I said I'd pick them up. Several hours later, I got a call back from them stating that the shoes had sold two weeks prior. They claimed they sold the shoes for only $274 and my share was $137!!! Unbelievable. You are better off selling items like high-end shoes, handbags and apparel on sites like Tradesy, the RealReal or Bagborroworsteal. DON'T BRING YOUR MERCHANDISE THERE! read more

After searching everywhere for mid-century modern dresser, I stumbled upon this gem of a store! I ended up buying my entire bedroom set: a long dresser, tall boy dresser and nightstand. I even purchased a cool vase! Everything was delivered in perfect condition and I still can't find anything like what I purchased at one savvy design! One Savvy Design- being consignment- is hit or miss, which in this case is the appeal for me. I never know what gem I'm going to find. Over the years I've bought so many treasures, that are, literally, one of a kind. The satisfaction I get from swiping Chanel ballet flats from the shelf is amazing-yes, I've found them there. It's an ever revolving catalog of clothes that run from high end to casual, lower priced pieces. Vintage rings, funky beaded bracelets, assorted sunglasses, statement necklaces, Chanel flats, a Balenciaga bag, Frye boots, a funky Alice & Olivia leopard fur coat, blouses, shirts, sweaters...um, I've found it all there- and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head. Arlene, the owner, and her "girls" are ALWAYS, so kind and catering to me. I've brought one, or both of my children to the store on multiple occasions, and without batting an eye, they are welcoming to us. I don't get that Arlene is pretentious- she clearly has a background in fashion, buying/selling, knows her clientele,what will and will not sell. She's discerning with what she puts on her shelves, and I appreciate that as a shopper. As a consignor, she's passed on many an item, and that's totally fine. If you're not into previously owned clothes, she ALSO carries a great variety of basic long and short sleeve tees, tanks, kimonos, chunky long and short sweaters. AS IF CLOTHING WASN'T ENOUGH--- SHE SELLS FURNITURE AND DECOR!!! Arlene found me the most perfect caddy cornered china cabinet, that literally looks as if it was made for my dining room. I really loved this store when I found it and purchased many pieces from them. I referred many people to them who bought a lot from them as well. However, when I returned to purchase more pieces, they were not accomodating. The female owner was very cut and dry and wasn't very polite. This is discouraging to me considering I spent a great amount of money there and gave them many customers. I have dealt with Arlene for about 2 years now with consignment of clothing and jewelry that i no longer use or wear. I have been extremely satisfied with her. She is upfront and is very organized in merchandising the stuff and every month you receive an email of what sells and that you have a check. When the check prints it shows all that has sold and the pricing it has sold for. Of the many items I have given her, only a few didnt sell, so she obviously knows her market and her clientele. It truly is a winning situation for everyone, I give things that no longer are worn she prices them at a fair price and her clientele receive a good deal on something they want priced less than retail. A previous reviewer stated that she didnt take a high end designer suit and she was insulted, in the beginning i also brought several suits and she didnt take them and that is in no way an insult that the merchandise isnt good, it just is that her market doesnt buy that style. It makes no sense for her to take stuff that she knows isnt going to sell, this not only wastes her time but it would waste mine as well, thinking it will sell and it doesn't. She has been very spot on with my things of what will sell and they usually do. Her staff is very friendly, I call periodically to check to see if things have sold, I have never gotten an attitude or told to wait they look it up for me no problems. I have even recommended a friend to consign with her. I am extremely pleased with her and hope to continue dealing with her for many years to come. read more
