I would give this negative or zero stars if I could, but one star is the lowest I can rate…read more For identity purposes because I don't know who the employee was - I went there around 4PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016; to the Myrtle Ave location. A RUDE black woman was the cashier there; she was average built, short cropped hair, had an accent, and was tall for a woman. My receipt said the cashier was "GARY", so not sure if that is just the default name or what. I dont know if she was having a bad day or what, but she was very NASTY to me, staring me down, and seemed like she was being theatrical and wanting to make a scene. I asked her if a coat was $12.99 because it had two price stickers over the original price tag. She tells me, "If you want a calculator you can add this all up yourself." I asked her why she's being so rude for, I'm just asking her a question - she tries to blame me for being rude and accused me of treating her like she was stupid. How did she get offended by me asking a legitimate question about a price of an item!? This person should be fired immediately because I doubt someone like that has just a one-time mishap. If she doesn't want to interact with customers, she should find another job! Also, this is not the only discounted children's clothing store in Ridgewood - Myrtle Ave. is lined with them all up and down the avenue on both sides! Thinking back, I regret giving the store my money today and wished I had told her 'Bye Felicia!' and went 2 blocks up to the other large discount store across from the big corner diner instead! She also stole a dollar from me because my change was supposed to be $2.07 and she gave me $1.07 instead - I wouldn't be surprised if she's skimming small amounts out of the register here and there. Below is my receipt so that management/owner can see that I was at the store and look into this incident with the employee.

It wasn't until i took out a boxer out of a package to figure out the right size on my own, when one of the employees behind the counter already assisting a customer stopped and spoke out loud asking if I needed help yet gave me such a dirty look. I said no i'm okay after already helping myself on my own, not only did she stay staring for a good while, she lowered her voice and started talking about me with the customers and employees all looking at me like some weirdo. Honestly this will be the last time I'm stepping foot in such uncomfortable place, I don't understand how these people even got a job at this place, with no training at all. No hospitality, just straight up making people feel bad. As someone who has worked in retail, it's never hard to be helpful at your workplace, a small sweet gesture could make someones day and unfortunately this place cannot do the bare minimum.

I needed to buy a gift card as I was looking at the gif cards the cashier comes over and says you need an ID to buy those which I found odd since I had not even said how I was paying, she continues to tell me I need an ID, Finally I pull out my ID and my Carters Credit Card and AFTER I swiped my card she said no you can't use the Carters card.. I found that odd.. So I walked out the store and I called the 800 number. Where it was stated to me that YES I can buy a gift card with my credit card and NO I don't need to show ID..I then proceeded to go back to the store to double check that i wasn't charged for the gift card since I had swiped my card. The cashier said well when you get your statement you will see if you got charge.. I told her absolutely not she was going to check right there and right now and I also informed them at that moment that was still on the phone with 800 and the tone changed quickl. I ended up going to another Carters with again ID and Card in hand and they sold me the gift card. I dont know if it was that I didn't look like them or maybe they taught that I didn't work whatever it was I felt profiled by this women at the Carters on Myrtle Avenue in Ridgewood NY

The aesthetic of the shop and the product offering (great fifty items, a lot of local products, fun greeting cards, plants!) is what drew me to follow them. Having a "Visit Ridgewood Day" and and shop and Stay Forever was on my to-do list this spring, but now we're all grounded. I was so happy to see that the owners took a creative way to drum up some business during a very uncertain time but selling all types of care packages. I decided to buy a surprise box for my friend, and she loved it. It included a candle and a gorgeous spring green journal. I ended up buying three more boxes for my friends' children; I cannot wait to see the pics of their loot from Stay Forever. I will definitely be visiting this local women-owned business when things get better.

However, I had a really frustrating experience recently regarding their return policy. A high-end item was placed in a bucket on the floor, where the price was not visible and the price sign of a neighboring item was visible instead of that particular item. Because the store was crowded, and they don't print receipts, I didn't catch the massive price jump at the register until after I paid. When I immediately went back inside to return the item and explain the misleading signage setup, I was told they only offer store credit or gift cards- No refunds. For an independent local boutique, a completely inflexible 'No refund' policy for an honest, immediate mistake leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. If you shop here, just be sure to double-check the price of absolutely everything at the register before you hand over your payment, because once they have your money, you are stuck with it.

Well, this is the perfect place to put that into practice. It has all of the best brands--Frida and Coterie come to mind--and it's nice to buy locally instead of during late-night scrolling on Amazon. The store is beautiful and has everything you could need. Some of it is pricey, but everything is very well-made and there are certainly items in all price ranges. Most of all, this store is accommodating to babies. The staff helped me get my stroller in; they have two changing pads with diapers and wipes (plus I think a toiler sprayer for cloth diapers?); and they let me nurse in the back room. I will definitely be back!

The shop was so accommodating when he called to tell them of the mistake. We live in DC and were passing through New York in a month and they told us they'd happily exchange it for us when we came through. That's more generous than the actual company site of the coat! When we got there, they let me try it on the new size WITH a carrier and dummy doll to make sure it fit how I wanted it to. It was so nice not having to take my son out of his stroller! The store is clearly made with mothers and children in mind. The shop itself is also just filled with the most wonderful baby and maternity products. A great place for gifts and necessities. They also have a variety of classes available in the back of the store. This is an awesome small community store and we will definitely be back!
