This review is a bit confusing to write because all ice cream is good ice cream, right? Amy's is typically VERY good but the Oreo ice cream we had here was just flat out bad. It was almost as if someone took vanilla ice cream and thought about putting Oreos in it but they forget to actually put the Oreos in it since the taste just wasn't there. The dark chocolate ice cream was absolutely great and the white chocolate cheesecake was delicious too. The parking is good for the area and the service was very quick despite the small area the shop has indoors. The outdoor area is very nice to spend time at on a hot day with tables with umbrellas. One thing I will preface that last part with is the fact that this is a VERY kid friendly location, they even have a playground there. We brought our dog with us to sit outside and with a bunch of kids running around, you can guess where I'm going with this. This obviously is no fault of the ice cream parlor, just potentially something to be aware of. Maybe it's this location or maybe we've been riding the eternal high of being Yelp reviewers for far too long but we were left disappointed by this trip to Amy's, hopefully yours won't follow suit. read more

I have been enjoying coming to this particular Amy's ice cream for over a decade. I have been to other locations, but I like this one a lot for some reason. It's also close to the Korea House location. So my family and I usually stop here for dessert afterwards from the Korea House. It also reminds me of my childhood best friend who is no longer with us. We used to come here when he would come visit with us from Fort Worth, TX. This place can be a hit or miss with customer service as others have pointed out. Parking can also be a pain during peak hours. One point over the summer of 2021 their A/C was out for quite some time. I couldn't imagine how it was for the employees working there. The cool thing about this place is just the hole in the wall feel kind of place. They also have a playground so your kids can get their sugar out of their system. Another thing they have coffee mugs, they sell ice cream cakes, ice cream quarts($15.50). Their Mexican Vanilla flavor is the bomb diggity .com. LOL They have other great flavors but I love that Mexican Vanilla. I even bought a coffee mug from here ($10.99). Next time I will pick up a t-shirt. I wished we had a location in Pflugerville, TX. This is my first time trying Amy's and I'm impressed! This particular location was very nice with an outdoor play area for kids and ample seating. The store itself is very small though and with Amy's being so popular it can get a little cramped inside. The staff was friendly and did the best they could to speed up the service. I got a cone with cookies n cream ice cream with some toppings that they mix in similar to cold stone. The ice cream itself was a good portion and very creamy. I hate to give Amy's a one-star review, as I have had many great experiences at their other locations, but my recent experience at this location was deserving of a one-star. We went in a little over an hour before they closed, on a Wednesday night. The teenagers who were manning the ship that night had already started doing closing duties which meant they had no hot toppings and they announced to the line, out the door, that they could not do mix-ins, but could only use what toppings they had left. We did not learn about the no go on the hot toppings until we got to the front of the line. We tried ordering 4 different things, with each time being told a reason why we could not have the item, which really boiled down to these kids had done their closing duties too early, which BTW did not appear to include much cleaning. When I went into Amy's today, I was shocked by the behavior of one of the employees. While I was in line waiting for my ice cream, I witnessed an employee shouting at a young lady, telling her she was banned and saying, "Oh hunny, it seems you forgot," in a really condescending way. From what I could see, the young lady hadn't done anything wrong--she just wanted her ice cream, and it seemed there were prior issues between them. In my opinion, banning someone from an ice cream shop over personal issues is completely out of line. It was clear they had some history, but that kind of behavior is extremely unprofessional. read more

While vacationing in Texas, I was wondering where a good, local ice cream shop was around Austin. I asked a few Austin locals and each told me Amy's, and boy were they right! I came here on a Tuesday night with my mom to commemorate our last night in Texas before heading back to Western NY. From our Airbnb, it was about a 20 minute walk. The location itself is kind of small with small parking lot next to it but we came here close to 9:30pm so it was pretty much empty. The shop itself has that "Keep Austin Weird" vibe to it with a colorful exterior and interior and lots of art. Even at 9:30pm, this place was buzzin' with customers and we had to wait a few minutes to place our order, but the wait was well worth it. There were only two people serving behind the counter but they were friendly and diligent workers, their attitude and demeanor definitely helped with the experience here. The style of ice cream here is hard but is whipped like Cold Stone Creamery in Western NY. I decided to go with a small (5-6 oz.) Mexican Vanilla ice cream with the graham cracker "crush'n" in a waffle cone. The ice cream itself was incredibly creamy and thick! The Mexican Vanilla flavor was excellent and paired so well with the mixed in, crunched up graham cracker. The waffle cone had a great taste and texture, very fresh. Even having the waffle cone, I would strongly recommend asking for a spoon to eat out of it! The amount of ice cream with the waffle cone was perfect: I was content, not stuffed but not hungry either. Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts and Amy's has earned a top spot, right next to Lake Effect Ice Cream. I can't wait to come back here again and try another flavor! read more

took my grandkids there for the first time for their birthday. it was a Saturday right when the store opened. ice cream was not any better that HEB brand and incredibly overpriced. server tried to flip the scoop in to the cup and it landed on the floor. went out to the play area. trash and debris everywhere. (napkins, utensils, used bandaids, cups, etc) the plastic slide had a big tear/crack in it and is an injury just waiting to happen. major disappointment and will not be going back - I can scoop some Blue bell in a cup and take them to the backyard for a better time. read more

Amy's was so fun! I love this location. It has a playground and a restaurant next door. The playground is such a great way for the kids to get their sugar rush out. Amy's changes flavors every day. Impressive. The servers were very young. They had great attitudes, were very friendly and helpful when choosing flavors. The great attitude was seen when I walked in and the A/C was broken and they were still smiling. I had trouble deciding what to get. I eventually chose the buttered rum with pecans and an oatmeal cookie. It was so good! I couldn't finish the small size, so I took it home. I took about 30 high school students here on the last day of school and it was a madhouse. (In the best way possible) the place is small, so be aware that there will be a wait at peak times.
