While on a recent roadtrip, (Spring-2026), we saw a Culver's drive-thru outside of Richmond KY. The…read moreclosest one to where we live is two-states away, so we said, Lets's go! This nearly-nationwide Wisconsin-originated fast-food chain has a cult-following for their Wisconsin-originated ButterBurgers© (which are actually steaky-tasting burgers on buttered buns). And for a version of Wisconsin-famous squeaky-when-you-bite-them fried cheese-curds, not quite as sharp tasting (or quite as squeaky) as you would get in Wisconsin, but fun to bite! Well, we were in a mood, and went for their bragged-about shredded-chuck pot-roast sandwiches. I am sad to report that we were underwhelmed. The flavor was rather dull, despite the herb&spice cooking marinade, and the texture was not quite fall-apart-tender the way low-and-slow should come out. The cheese curds were ok. And of course we got the yummy flavor-of-the-day frozen custard: Turtle! (vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and toasted pecan). Aaaah :-p Well, the pot roast sandwiches were not thrilling. And we noticed that the Culver's drive-thru receipt is one of those that only lists the total price, not the price of each item. Why? If we were locals, we could have gone back to talk to them about this stuff. So, overall ok, but we can't 5-star this experience.

I used to love going to this place because the food was hot, the orders were always correct, and…read morethe restaurant was clean. The food was served in baskets that made it feel like you were getting an experience that is a bit more than just fast-food - not now. Sadly, it has since gone downhill so we simply stopped going after patronizing at the very least twice a month. The food orders are not correct, they are served up in a cramped paper tray, and restaurant was dirty. I've encountered it twice now and that's enough. What a disappointment. Just one more thing to we used to enjoy that's circling the drain.
