Easy location to get to and enough parking if you arrive at the right time. I will say that it isn't the cleanest, but the staff have always been kind each time that I've been to this location. Summer months the ice cream always melt so fast, indoors or outdoors. They have a little play area outside for kids which is fun and my daughter enjoys. The restrooms could use some TLC, but they are fully open and anyone could walk into them since they are outside. We enjoy their ice cream overall! read more

It's almost SPOOKY SZN but it's still hot outside, and when I want a malted milkshake, this is my favorite place. ZOOEY & ISABELLA helped a long line move fast on a poppin' Friday - current house faves are a CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE, ZILKER MINT CHIP, and TEXAS DIRT CAKE. For take-home, there's always to-the-nines ice cream cake or their newest LOLA BAR (an ice cream sandwich - on a stick!), along with jars of homemade BUTTERSCOTCH, HOT FUDGE, & PECAN PRALINE that make great gifts! Don't forget to round up for kids at CASA and other rotating non-profits. read more

I think one of the hardest things for me as someone who has been going to Amy's for over a decade, is watching the gradual loss of authenticity. The ice cream is still good, but one of my earliest memories was having someone dressed as the Mad Hatter throw my ice cream in the air and then catch it in my cup. As the hand drawn signs are gradually phased out for tv screens and so many of the quirky things that made Amy's special are slowly replaced with a more corporate feel, it just makes me sad. The ice cream is still good, but the milk shake was disappointing. I'll stick with my OG flavor of Mexican Vanilla with gummy bears in the future. Also, the price on my receipt didn't match the price on their menu. Fun fact: if you bring your movie ticket to this location you'll get a free topping. And if you guess the quote, you also get a free topping. read more

Always deliciously good! Interesting flavors and sauces. Caramel sauce was yummy. Something for everyone!

Yet another ho-hum experience at an Austin Amy's. We cannot think of another Austin institution that has lost its soul so completely as Amy's. Maybe Torchy's. It's like the chain has been taken over by private equity. Welcome to the new Austin, folks! This location is located at the corner of the Westgate center, across from the new El Alma, where we had a pretty unimpressive dinner. You walk into this Amy's and it just seems so....sad. No greeting, no heart, no nothing. It feels generic. We enjoyed our cherry pie ice cream with sprinkles on top (god forbid you get a tiny with sprinkles mashed in....they just ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE can do a mix-in on a tiny now...biggest money grab ever! to size up). It was fine. Our daughter got her signature Belgian chocolate with gummi bears. It was also fine. There was a time ten years ago when we were going through a tough time in our lives and went to Amy's almost every week to lift our spirits. We can't even recognize that place anymore with its hangdog-faced staff and dolorous ambience. Austin seriously needs a new ice cream scene. read more

Amy's is such a classic Austin spot and always a good time. The ice cream is great, super rich and creamy, and they've got tons of fun flavors to try. The vibe is playful, the staff is always cool, and it's one of those places that just puts you in a good mood. Whether we're stopping by after dinner or just craving something sweet, Amy's always hits. A must if you're in Austin. read more

Austin original. I've been licking this crack since the 80's! This is pretty much the only ice cream I eat. I like the coffee flavor. With walnuts. In a waffle cone. So it drips down my elbows. Mexican vanilla is a close second. The folks here are laid back and friendly. Kinda like Austin in the 80's. read more

Not sure what the buzz is all about. I did go to Amy and tried their flavors. Weird vibe. Went into the shop, weird lady with septum piercing and colored highlights had her bottom half sitting on the counter which I'm pretty sure goes against health code. Disgusting. I walked in to look at the menu items the weird lady never greeted me. She never offered her input on the menu on anything just stood there looking rude and like she was ready to spit in the ice cream. Clearly black people are not welcome here. I walked out, because they won't be getting my black money. No way! read more

Yes please, Amy's. Yes please. First, everyone I have talked to at this location has been great. Everyone! Super friendly, laid back, and really patient, especially when my 8 year old has FOMO and wants everything! His cookie and cream ice cream looked incredible, and my hubby said it was the best he's had for cookies and cream anywhere. My favorite combo right now is honey brandy with their pecan caramel situation, and let me tell you. On a hot day it is the PERFECT treat. Perfect. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough and a perfect compliment to the honey bourbon. I get a little overwhelmed with all of their flavors, but it matters not, because there are so many different combos of deliciousness. Ube, Vietnamese Coffee, Zilker Mint Chip, give me it all! Even without toppings, this ice cream is solid. There is a flavor for all tastes, and it is delicious every time! Can't go wrong with Amy's! read more

I went here tonight and the service wasn't great. Racism at it's fullest. I am still human... when all the white people get ice cream that looks like ice cream and everything they wanted and order. I get this slop and no darn brownie. I ask for a brownie sundae. she go heat it up in Microwave. That's cool no problem. I stood over as close as I could be so she didn't have to walk way back to the register. Being nice. But she handle me with a very nasty attitude and every one in that place had good looking ice cream. What is this you gave me? I'm confused a mess. What is wrong with this town? And customer service I made my money good make your services good. read more

I've had the worst customer service at this location. The girl behind the counter was too busy, trying to talk to her friends instead of attending to the customer. I think Amy's is a solid Austin staple being from this city. I'll give 4 stars. A little taken aback this experience unfortunately. My son turned 20 and wanted an ice cream cake. There are other options for a pickup ice cream cake but decided to get it from Amy's for various reasons and order the cake. On site I noticed you can add some writing. So on the cake for an additional request I said add " Happy Birthday ..." Three days went by and went to pick it up. Was told they aren't trained to write on cakes so you can only preorder cakes they have in stock premade. No birthday anything. A phone call in advance would have been nice or more clarification on the website. I already had paid on the website and tipped for them to do that for me. I assume since they aren't trained to write on a cake that they probably don't make them either, so wish I would have known in advance, but It was just what it was when I picked it up and I just left with the cake. Good cake but some advance notice of some sort would have been nice for the customer. read more

Felt pretty bad ordering delivery with 18 minutes left before closing. I had my malts delivered within 20 minutes. Delicious and still frozen well. read more

Horrible customer service. Even after complying with their mandates, we were still treated lesser than the dog that got free complementary ice cream that came in after us. The girl at the counter kept badgering us about our masks and things related to covid and then was shocked when my boyfriend had finally had enough and walked out. They really need to step off their high horse and just serve the ice cream. On top of that, I would not rely on the online menu. They didn't have a single thing that I asked about. And then when I finally ordered off the menu, they still didn't have what I requested. Pretty disappointed. read more

Was craving some ice cream and decided to try this place out. They have a lot of flavors available. If it wasn't for the samples to try them out I would have never been able to decide, haha! Thank you giving out samples. The menu seemed to have a lot of items in addition to all of the ice cream flavors. They even had some frozen yogurt. There are a few tables inside and then a couple outside. It's pretty small with a tall ceiling. It's nicely decorated, nothing too over the top. The employees were nice and patient with us as we contemplated on what to get. I eventually landed on the peppermint ice cream. This area is a big shopping center with a lot of different stores. Overall, I like this place. I got the large and it was too much for me too eat. Good portion sizes here. read more

Immediate neighbor to a cinema, this little ice cream shop offers very friendly and courteous service along with some unique flavors. Not the extent of options as I have seen elsewhere necessarily as they have about a dozen flavors. Admittedly, I am not much a fan of ice cream, but their prices are a little more than I generally care to pay as the "Tiny" size I ordered with 1 topping came to $5.08 +tax. read more

Oh Amy, I gave you 2 chances and you failed me both times. On hot days there's nothing I want more than some good fro yo so I dragged my friend, Michelle B, all over town to find some. And so we found ourselves at this Amy's. I was especially excited about those crushins until the man behind the counter told me he can't make a crushin with the yogurt (only ice cream). Huh? So my flavorless vanilla yogurt was topped with my toppings of choice instead of mixed in...where's the fun in that? I thought it was just this particular Amy's, but I just tried the chocolate yogurt at the airport location and they still wouldn't make a crushin with yogurt. Perhaps it's my fault and I just need to splurge for the ice cream, but not recommended for yogurt lovers. I just threw away my chocolate yogurt after a few bites and I'm not one to waste the fro yo! read more

Amy's is without a doubt the best Ice Cream in town. Its one of those Austin staples that you almost want to not like because everyone likes it so much and feels the need to tell you about it all the time. You'd need to be a much better snob than me to hate on Amy's because the Ice Cream is just sooo goood! Last time I was there I had the Pumpkin flavor with peanut butter cup mix ins. It was pretty amazing. There's something about the way peanut butter and chocolate pair with pumpkin that makes my taste buds dance like fairies in a garden. The employes are so friendly and so much fun, every time I get Ice Cream at Amy's. Just making my ice cream cone turns into an epic show! Just went to the S Lamar location at 10:45 pm on a Saturday. We were met with 3 workers on their phones, sitting on the counters. Oh, Amy's, how you taunt me with your sugary confections and your cute ice cream scooper boys. (Dominic, I mean, SpazMaTaz) But you are so much more than an ice cream shop!
