    Amtrak Station

We recently took the Silver Meteor to Savannah and back for a three day trip. Rail station in N Charleston was okay, staff were somewhat cordial. Train ride there was fine, Amtrak staff were communicative and pleasant except for the special folks that just make their job difficult. The trip back was "different" to say the least. Fellow travelers decided to clog three toilets and have difficulty understanding rules of the rails. Loud passengers, phones, music and expletives from others. Didn't make for a pleasant trip back but Amtrak held true to their times and we arrived home on time. Will ride again but will upgrade accommodations next time.

This was our first time to the Savannah Amtrak Station. The station was decent sized and clean. The employees were helpful. We waited about an hour for our train without incident. The station is in an industrial area. Lots of big truck traffic depending on time of day. Also, early in the morning there was a foul odor in the area. We'd use this station again.

This picture with Amtrak is departing early on time.

It's really a good place to rail-fan and travel to Charleston without highway traffic, i always going to station to see train watching past through the station each day, but for others trains like palmetto northbound by morning, they just departed to New York or Washington DC to go. We just watched other Amtrak trains when they got on time or getting late to see it. But for the station looks pretty nice.

I don't know the history of this building, but the interior is in need of fresh paint and a deep cleaning. It doesn't smell dirty which I greatly appreciate. Everyone keeps to themselves or their group; no commingling to be had amongst the passengers. The restrooms smell very fresh and are impressively neat. There's only one person working the ticket window with a longer line, but perhaps that is due to the early hour. Overall, not an uncomfortable place to be during the overnight hours waiting on a train. I feel safe in this location and may take another train if unable to make plane reservations.

Surprise, Amtrak is a great and cost effective means of travel. Plenty of leg room in coach, arrived on time.

Not the friendliest customer service. Prices okay. Look for deals on their website.

The Train Station is an official stop on Amtrak and came up as one of the things to see. The building seemed new-ish and well kept. When we arrived, it was pretty deserted. There was not a soul to be found and all the doors seemed to be locked. I looked up the Amtrak website and there is nothing available here, no services or facilities. I think you have to purchase a ticket online and you just show up to either ride the train or get dropped off at this location. According to the good ol' internet, the station was purchased in 2010 by the town of Yemassee for one dollar. However, while we were there, we ran into two older gentlemen and they discredited that rumor. One of the men said something about the station being purchased during his tenure as Mayor and said something that if they bought the station for one dollar, they were doing pretty good...or something along those lines. Well, how about that? Meeting a former Mayor of Yemassee! One cool fact about this station is that between 1915 to 1965, it is estimated that at least half a million Marine recruits started their careers at Yemassee train station as they passed through here to make their way to Parris Island. There is a plaque on the station wall to recognize this. I wouldn't say you should go out of your way to see the station, but it was cool to run into a former mayor and learn about the history of the station. Also, during our time there (about a total of 15 minutes), there were multiple trains and other train components (not sure what they are called, but maybe maintenance type trains?) that passed us and it was fun for my kids to wave to.

The staff are so so rude. I almost believed Im a teenager…read moreon 6th grade. This is ridiculous . Btw the train is dirty, restrooms stinking, cafeteria poor.

YELP was helpful in directing us to Chatham Cab. We can not say enough great things about our round trip. We prearranged via email - prompt and efficient response from Michelle. Stacy arrived on time, had a fabulous personality and most important to me is that he was a great driver. I have had many bad experiences with taxi and livery services where I white knuckled the whole trip. That is what keeps me from utilizing Uber type services - not knowing who would actually be the driver? Van was clean and Price was reasonable. What more could you ask for? We will definitely call again when we are in Savannah. Thank you!

Our driver Stacy was very prompt and waiting on me by the baggage claim with a sign with my name on it. I travel frequently and have NEVER before been greeted by a Cab Company in this manner. Stacy immediately took my bag and made me feel at home. On the ride to my hotel I enjoyed a pleasant conversation and many laughs with Stacy. What a delightful driver. My return service to the airport with coworkers in tow was every bit the same. Timely pick up and drop off, excellent driving and genuine conversation. Thank you Michelle and Stacy for the top notch service you provided and for making me feel like family. In the future you will always be my go to transportation while I'm in Savannah as well as my referral for all my family and friends
