    Roaches in the seat

Roaches on my over 10 hour delayed train ride Staff do not care, they also talk badly about passengers nearby and think ppl will laugh and agree with them Disgusting, I'm still itching from this disgusting train. No observation car either just sitting in ur dirty seat I counted over 5 roaches before I took a photo because I was sick I didn't want to believe what I was seeing

    Texas Eagle sleeper Carriage

We took the Texas Eagle from Chicago to Ft Worth, Texas in September 2024. My wife and I booked the sleeper cabin. It is a room for two with two bunk beds, a chair and toilet and shower. All meals were part of the price. The train left about before 2pm and arrived in Fort Worth the next day at 2pm. The carriage, our room, felt dingee and old. It was in the upper level. Towels were snuck in wall panel gaps to stop rattling. The rooms need a good thorough deep cleaning, the room did not smell clean at all. Boarding was not a good experience. In business class and first class by air, the passengers get priority boarding, less crowded and in separate lines. Not so with Amtrak, hundreds of people are bunched together and had to wait in line to get to the platform. If you're older or with children and with more than 1 luggage it is difficult. Amtrak could take some lessons from the airline on how to check in sleeper ticket holders who pay 3 times or more the normal fares. De boarding from the train in Fort Worth was just terrible. The train did not stop at the canopy but after the canopy and it was raining when we arrived. We had to get off the train and there was no direction as to where to exit the platform, there were no assistance available like carts or porters to help with the luggage. There was no management of the platform for the passengers. The worst part of the trip was the food. It was micro waved over salted over cooked food. It was just terrible and the food servers are not trained. We were not seated at the designated time, the entre in a foil plate was served first followed by a salad. After waiting awhile and I asked for water or a drink because I had to take medications before eating and the server told me to be patient! This was a terrible trip and I will never recommend and try it again. I did travel about 9 years ago on Amtrak from San Francisco to Fort Worth in a sleeper carriage. It was much better with good food.

Used to take the Amtrak to and from Austin back when I didn't own a car. Surprisingly, it only added an additional half-hour to get there. Even now as a car owner, I would take the Amtrak in a heartbeat. There is a food car with snacks and beverages, even beer. There are also fold-down trays on the backs of the chairs for computer use or eating. (Sleeping and reading are also other ways to help pass the time.) I absolutely love Amtrak and wholeheartedly recommend this mode of transportation to anyone.

This was my first time on Amtrak. It will not be my last. It was affordable, comfortable, and super easy traveling. Lots of leg room!

I loved my experience on Amtrak. This was my first time traveling by rail. I loved it. The train had tons of leg room, was comfortable, and just an awesome experience. I have booked two more trips.

My family of four (2 adults,4 year old, and 18 month old) decided to take the Amtrak to San Antonio for our summer vacation. I was nervous at first because I wasn't sure how much room we'd have in the seats. I was pleasantly surprised at how wide the seats were and how much leg room we had. The kids were able to walk around between our seats. It was very convenient. The restrooms were fairly clean but tight. We sat on the top section and didn't have any problems finding a seat when we got on. Everyone near us were really nice. We walked to the lounge/observation car a few times which was the next one over. We did eat at the Dining Car for dinner on the way to San Antonio and had breakfast in the Dining Car on the way back to Fort Worth. The food was pretty good but expensive. They had snacks & drinks for purchase as well which we utilized. I took plenty of snacks on the way there to keep the kids preoccupied. I really enjoyed Amtrak and will consider it for future travel. It's convenient for the kids. It takes a bit longer because of the stops but it was fine with us since we were not on a tight time schedule.

Clean, and helpful staff. Amtrak is fun but not for everybody. I rode across the south west and have an amazing tale to share about it.

    Ask the Community - Amtrak

We are seniors who have recently moved from the Houston area here. We were thinking about using Amtrack to travel back south. But it goes to San Antonio first. Is there an easy to train travel from Ft Worth to Houston? Thanks

I think going thru San Antonio is the only one,but if your not in to big of a rush,it's nice

We looked forward to our mini vacation and even booked a First Class bedroom on the train. The previous month we had booked an amtrak roomette and enjoyed it so much we decided to do it again this month on a longer route with a bigger room. During that train ride, we had excellent service in first Class ! The attendants were awesome ! They were very friendly, attentive, and happy to see ya ! This recent journey, however, wasn't even on par. Sadly because we had expectations of an awesome experience again but it wasn't even close. I will say though, in everyone else's defense, it was really only 1 person that made the trip so miserable; Jan, the lead attendant in the First Class dining car. She was not happy. Not nice. Talked down to you if you accidentally did something wrong that went against her routine. Just not polite at all. Ever. She had a cutting , condescending demeanor toward not only the passengers but her fellow co worker working underneath her as well. Everything was done like roll call. Very routine and very strict very impersonal. No pleasure in her voice at all whether making announcements or talking to you directly. Not a good experience for us as far as dining goes. Our room attendant, on the other hand, was wonderful, and expressed care for her passengers. She was very attentive and a very sweet personality. In the end, this experience set us back a little bit with Amtrak. First Class rooms are too expensive to endure the treatment we received from her 3 times daily at mealtime. Something which should be pleasurable. I do not wish anyone the misfortune to get her as their dinning car attendant. I'm not sure if and when we will travel with Amtrak again.

So I IMMEDIATELY call to move the reservation to a late night Sat bus that is cheaper. I am told I have to pay $35. I don't have that currently. There are apparently no exceptions. There are no corporate office to call. There are no offices in the U.S. I explained that my son was barley 18 and it was his first time away from home, and that I couldn't leave him without a safe place alone in Indianapolis all night. I asked my options. I was told I had none. I said you and your company are not concerned about the safety of a young person? He answered"that's right". I was appalled. I asked again. "Greyhound doesn't care about the safety of a kid traveling? He repeated..."that's right". The said they couldn't help. They can't control the computer. That I could cancel if I wanted. But that still would cost the same amount. Absolutely NO concern or customer service. I have never in 40 years been blatantly told that the customer does not matter. Please do not book with Greyhound. And DEFINITELY do not trust them to ensure your children's safe travel. I called immediately after booking. And was shook down for $40 I didn't have at the expense of my son's safety. Shame on this company EDIT- Supervisor Himae took it up on himself to reach out and solve my son's travel issue. I understand that they have policies but he took the time to listen and help me get my son home safe. It's employees like this that make the corporate world still run. Without a personal touch customer service would be gone. I appreciate his help and as long as people like this work for greyhound, they may keep my business

I've been riding the bus for 6 years. I agree. The buses are sometimes as late as 45 min. I've…read morelearned it's a risk to ask the driver of the late bus any type of question pertaining to it being late. For those of us who rely on buses for medical appointments, work, etc, if there's a big change in bus arrival times or a change in routes, it's important that we ask the driver questions so that if there's been a change, we are able to make changes on our end. On another note, some of the drivers (rarely the men) can be very rude. Actually, some are downright hateful. It's as though they're boiling inside with rage. Just 10 min ago, I boarded the bus I ride at the same time daily. When I immediately saw the bus was not following the normal route, I thought I had accidentally boarded the wrong bus. I've been known to do that, so I walked up to the driver and asked, "Is this the #6?" The female driver responded with, "You got on the bus. YOU saw the number." ('Yes' would've taken SO MUCH LESS EFFORT!) I tried again, saying, "Well, I thought it was 6, but we're going down different streets." Waiting....,,. "So...is this the...are we having to take a detour?" The bus was now entering into an area which would no longer allow me to switch buses easily. At this point, If I was on the wrong bus, I'd arrive at my destination at least an hour late, and could expect to walk a mile to the appropriate bus stop. I was still standing up front next to the driver. Waiting. Then she said, "Can't you see that big 'ole truck down under that bridge?" I quickly looked to my left & then my right....in search of a big 'ole truck under a bridge. Because I possess the skill of "putting 2 & 2 together", her response put me more at ease; although, because I had not yet been able to locate a bridge NOR a big 'ole truck, I didn't feel I was out of the woods yet, so I put on my glasses for a look into the far distance. Nope. In my offense, I ALWAYS find Mario. By now, I'm thinking the same thing you probably are...'SURELY by now the driver would've told me if I was on the wrong bus!' So, I walked back to my seat & sat down. The bridge and big 'ole truck? It had been half a mile and 3 turns ago. No wonder! For the remainder of the ride, I put my phone in my bag, sat quietly...and thought. What makes a person do something like that? What could she possibly gain from it? She must be miserable! And OFTEN...cuz it's by far the first time she's picked me to unload on. Hum...I must look tough. Like someone who can 'take it'. Someone you don't wanta reckon with. I'll take that.
