However, there were two conductors I wanted to visit with in making my goodbyes. As a result, I boarded the train at the time my associates were working. We rode to and from the airport, having a time of fellowship all along the way. Knowing they were still "on the job", I made sure our final hurrah didn't impede their duties. Upon returning to the T&P Station, our departure was very bittersweet. Walking away from the train, I made another quick glance toward the sweet memories I was leaving. Trinity Metro developed this display to perpetuate the economic and cultural contributions of this era. Panel A | 1865-1876: The first panel of the Historic Wall celebrates the infancy of Fort Worth. African Americans were among the cowboys driving cattle to the city, as well as owning saloons and other service businesses. The first recorded African-American businessman was John Pratt, a blacksmith, in 1865. Panel B | 1876-1900: In 1876, the train arrived in Fort Worth brining settlers of Chinese, Irish and Africa-American descent to live in the city. Other transportation options sprung up including the first horse-drawn trolley. Panel C | 1900-1920: By 1907, there were more than 50 African-American-owned businesses flourishing in the area including doctors, hotels, barbershops, dentists, tailors, millineries, butchers, grocers and beauty shops. Panel D | 1920-1930: This era marked the beginning of modernization in Fort Worth. Deliveries were made by motor cars, as there were no more horses and mules in town. (Part of a Christmas package) (We did an all public transportation experience and walked a bit.) We arrived about 45 mins before departure and got situated after conductor directed us where we needed to go. Lower level reservation is what we had. The chairs were comfy. Bathrooms clean! A couple of them were spacious as well. The space in the lower level car and the plugins were pretty awesome says my daughters. Took a visit to the cafe car when it opened up. Smiles from the staff. Thank you for being awesome On the return trip A Hicks - Train conductor made the girls day/night as we boarded the train some people were seated in lower with upper level seats. We got the logistics ironed out and away we are back to Oklahoma City. The ride was smooth and swift! **Only suggestions I have for Amtrak is better family friendly schedule for return trip. Leaving at 520pm was tough to plan out from the hotel standpoint...but we managed. Girls got a picture with the train driver!!! Mr Darryl did a fantastic job. We looked forward to our mini vacation and even booked a First Class bedroom on the train. The previous month we had booked an amtrak roomette and enjoyed it so much we decided to do it again this month on a longer route with a bigger room. During that train ride, we had excellent service in first Class ! The attendants were awesome ! They were very friendly, attentive, and happy to see ya ! This recent journey, however, wasn't even on par. Sadly because we had expectations of an awesome experience again but it wasn't even close. I will say though, in everyone else's defense, it was really only 1 person that made the trip so miserable; Jan, the lead attendant in the First Class dining car. She was not happy. Not nice. Talked down to you if you accidentally did something wrong that went against her routine. Just not polite at all. Ever. She had a cutting , condescending demeanor toward not only the passengers but her fellow co worker working underneath her as well. Everything was done like roll call. Very routine and very strict very impersonal. No pleasure in her voice at all whether making announcements or talking to you directly. Not a good experience for us as far as dining goes. Our room attendant, on the other hand, was wonderful, and expressed care for her passengers. She was very attentive and a very sweet personality. In the end, this experience set us back a little bit with Amtrak. First Class rooms are too expensive to endure the treatment we received from her 3 times daily at mealtime. Something which should be pleasurable. I do not wish anyone the misfortune to get her as their dinning car attendant. I'm not sure if and when we will travel with Amtrak again.

This train stop doesn't have much to offer. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it does have…read moresome saving graces: 1)The station is fairly clean and looks fairly new or revamped. 2) Several buses connect to this stop, so there is lots of steady traffic. 3) A huge bonus is it's proximity to the Stockyards. A short ride and you are right where you need to be to watch the cattle drive or hit the rodeos etc. 4) this stop does have kiosks that accepts credit cards and cash. The down side is there are absolutely no amenities or facilities, and that the train runs are spaced out far enough that you tend to spend a lot of time waiting.

Incompetence and lack of care from their police. Been trying to call about a train and it's crew…read morenot moving over 2 hours and they say it's not their problem. Don't know if the crew is even alive. Have watched 2 other trains now pass by. Yet, this train is still sitting here blocking the road. Tried all sorts of numbers and either is, "not our problem', "don't know, or some answering machine. I understand now why my company uses BNSF. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND any company looking for train service to join BNSF. At least they care. ​

So I IMMEDIATELY call to move the reservation to a late night Sat bus that is cheaper. I am told I have to pay $35. I don't have that currently. There are apparently no exceptions. There are no corporate office to call. There are no offices in the U.S. I explained that my son was barley 18 and it was his first time away from home, and that I couldn't leave him without a safe place alone in Indianapolis all night. I asked my options. I was told I had none. I said you and your company are not concerned about the safety of a young person? He answered"that's right". I was appalled. I asked again. "Greyhound doesn't care about the safety of a kid traveling? He repeated..."that's right". The said they couldn't help. They can't control the computer. That I could cancel if I wanted. But that still would cost the same amount. Absolutely NO concern or customer service. I have never in 40 years been blatantly told that the customer does not matter. Please do not book with Greyhound. And DEFINITELY do not trust them to ensure your children's safe travel. I called immediately after booking. And was shook down for $40 I didn't have at the expense of my son's safety. Shame on this company EDIT- Supervisor Himae took it up on himself to reach out and solve my son's travel issue. I understand that they have policies but he took the time to listen and help me get my son home safe. It's employees like this that make the corporate world still run. This system is crappy and the higher ups do not give a sh!t. Busses are late or missing every day…read morelike clockwork. The drivers go uncaring and not reprimanded for it. They will literally spead up, leaving stops 5+ minutes early, just to stop at a gas station or fast food place for 20 minutes, making you late. The phone people have no clue and are very rude, the complaints go ignored. I have put in a complaint at least 3 times a week for the last 7 years and the most I've gottenfrom them is a free one day pass... Even the security is rude. They lock up at 9pm. At 8:54, I was stuck because the busses failed again, and I asked them where I could use a bathroom cause the doors were locked early. SECURITY TOLS ME TO PEE ON THE GROUND. Not kidding. 1 star is generous, -5 is to light even. Time to cancel city contracts and book a new transportation system. ​

The trains are relatively clean and pretty modern / up-to-date, and they travel at a decent speed (in general comparable to the BART). Overall the TRE is a great addition to the DFW metroplex but their downside is definitely the waiting anywhere between 20 minutes to an HOUR per train issue. Build more tracks & trains! If they improved in this area I believe they'd have a much higher approval rating.

I have to remember to bring my laptop next time I go, so I don't get bored or anything. I believe they have free wifi on the train and there's plug ins underneath the tables.
