When I was coming into Amsterdam Cafe, I was attracted by its hipster charm. There was colourful graffiti all over the walls, there were old televisions, other old objects for decorations and the waitresses were dressed in short-sleeved casual ware. The menu was pretty interesting as for as meals and alcoholic beverages go. I ordered the Vegan Budd-DAM Bowl and their Sex Off Pistol. the drink was decent, but nothing special. the vegan bowl was amazingly piquant. The tahini dressing brough everything together and the veggie ingredients tasted fresh. I highly recommend this dish to everyone, even if you are not a vegetarian. My only real complaint about the restaurant would be the noise level from the music playing. Other than that, I recommend Amsterdam in Whistler. read more

Great place to go to drinks with your friends! We sat on the patio for roughly an hour until we got asked to move inside because they close the patio after a certain hour, which is totally understandable. My friends and I split a pitcher of the Russell Honey Lager which was pretty good, and then once we moved tables the server convinced me to try the Friday's special however I did not enjoy it as it was way to sweet for my liking so I wish I just stuck with beer! The crunchy fries with the savory pork was nice especially with some hits of the hot sauce. I wished it had more cheese curds though. Over 40 and lame like me? Or carting around energetic youths? Then this place may not be for you. Two reasons: loud (avg 86dB, max 97dB) and cleavage (boobs). It's not a huge place, and the food was actually pretty decent. The nachos in particular really hit the spot after a full set of runs all morning & afternoon. But where the three of us might have wanted to chat for a while ... that really wasn't an option given the volume of the (good) music. I suppose the Dam Hotties should have tipped me off but looking around I quickly discovered cleavage everywhere. Not just in the artwork but clearly guests had left behind some lingering impressions in the form of polaroids tacked up around the place. If you're game for this ambiance then this may well be a four star joint for you. Sadly, I was hoping to chat a bit and literally couldn't hear, hence one fewer star. We wanted to grab a drink at the bar on a Thursday night around 8pm We were greeted at the door by a guy and he told us that the bar was full and there was only outdoor seating available. weather was warmer than expected so outside dining was a bit warm. There was also an abundance of bees swarming the tables. The wait staff night as well be non existent. It was such a nice vibe because they had heating lamps outside so we were able to sit, not be cold, and watch the snow falling and people walking. It was an amazing vibe. Best part of the experience. Food: We got the full rack of ribs. Was not impressed. The ribs didn't taste fresh. It's almost like they were cooked a couple days before and just headed up prior to serving. I chose one that I was expecting to be an American Pale Ale - but turns out it was an English Pale Ale - which has quite a different flavor profile vs. an APA - more malty and less hops. I prefer the APA but drank the Ale anyway. The place is really loud - so expect to yell a lot during your conversations. The bartender appeared to be in control of the volume and she was cranking it. My husband and I, along with my best friend and her boyfriend stopped in here for a drink while waiting for our dinner reservations. We were greeted right away. Our server was great! Super friendly and talkative. We had beers and a glass of wine. She was knowledgeable about the wines and helpful in picking out a good one. We also ordered the tater tots. They can with ranch. They were super yummy and their ranch is tasty. Prices were normal. The atmosphere was fun and lovely. The music was good and atmosphere was fun. This is the spot to hit after a day on the lifts! There is a spacious patio, more seats outside than inside. Daily drink specials make it fun to come and see what's new. There's generally a daily cocktail and a daily shooter that's well discounted. We stopped in for drinks and fries and the service was amazing. I was in Whistler during the summer and wanting to check out some of the nightspots. Went into this place because I saw a good crown. Very cool spot for some late night drinks. Gets a good crowd and good music. They had a few local beers and they were quite good, I was able to try a few. Earlier in the day it's also a restaurant although I did not try the food. The staff is very friendly and as busy as it gets they're attentive to everyone making sure everyone is able to get a drink. Whistler has it all, you can find just about whatever you crave or desire. However, when one is hungry to the point of extreme crankiness, it seems hard to find something to suit one's craving. I found myself in this situation after wandering the Village to find a late lunch/early dinner after the drive up from Vancouver. After already passing Amsterdam once, we decided to head back that way and just get something in our stomachs. Like so many other Whistler bars, it feels like an old college bar: Sports on the TV's, wood paneling, memorabilia on the walls, pretty waitresses, endless pitchers of beer, and greasy pub fare. I climbed into one of the spacious booths and scoured the menu. Their food menu is fairly small and basic and I couldn't really find anything I desired but I was starved at this point. I went with the veggie burger. Our waitress was very bubbly and conversational. She sat with us and chatted with us for a bit which was pretty cool. She talked about the mountain and gave us lots of cool suggestions. Very helpful in my book. The food wasn't great, about average but not major complaints. I also tasted the Poutine which I'm still frightened by the cheese curds idea but it was actually pretty good. Overall, Amsterdam was a cool place for a simple (albeit overpriced Whistler pub fare) bite and a beer. Service was the best part and it was enough to have me considering returning. read more

This underground bar is in the center of the Whistler Village - it has a casual club-like atmosphere with music and dim lights, as well as a projector airing hockey games. It's a good place to go with a large group (lots of tables and space) and/or to get a cheap(er) drink - they had $13 pitcher specials when I came - but the vibe seemed too divey. One of the beers on tap was completely flat and undrinkable, and many of the glasses were chipped and cracked to the point that they were almost leaking. My friend from Korea also tried to present two pieces of ID and the waitress wouldn't accept one just because she couldn't read it. Well what do you expect from foreigners? The food wasn't that great either. I ordered the margherita pizza which was half burnt and had hardly any tomato sauce or cheese on it. Just pieces of burnt tomato. I actually wanted to throw up a little after lunch. Then at the end I asked the server if she could split our check. She said she won't be able to because it's the weekend so they're too busy. I paused to look around the restaurant and she said, "What? Is that a problem?" Well, half of the restaurant was EMPTY but the service was still slow and the waitress wouldn't stop whining about how busy it was. I recall the place was twice as packed when I came on Friday night and our waitress that night still split the bill for us and the service was much quicker. I think the server on Sunday was just being a lazy POS. Dropped my rating down from 5 to 3 stars because of the crappy service and bad food. If it's too late/too busy to get a table on the patio, inside is just as fun. the staff are all great, the music is always good, and how can you go wrong with a place that has pictures of cleavage all around the bar? The food is really good here, last time I was in I had the deep fried pickles. Never had them before and I was a bit skeptical, but man they were delicious!
