The team from AMS come out last Friday (July 10) to work on my patio. My patio was a dark and foreboding wasteland of weeds, dead plants, and a very thorny vine that was eager to attack if you looked at it. Supervisor Ryan came out the preceding week to talk about the different types of plant life, what would work well for my yard based upon size, light exposure, and how nice the plants would look. He also took in to my considerations of low leaf litter and nothing that would stab me without a reason. The following week I arrived home to my own backyard oasis. The floral choices are pretty, smell nice, and multipurpose (aloe, lavender, rosemary, and a miniature citrus tree to name a few.) Once again, I can't fully express how happy I am with the work. Echoing some other reviewers - it starts out great when you're a new client - good communication with their office staff - feels professional, and then it's downhill from there. We were getting a routine cleanup/landscaping every two weeks - and the quality (and quantity) of work depended on who showed up. Sometimes it looked like all they really did was blow leaves, but then other times they clearly trimmed, raked the gravel and did a complete job. Also trying to ask about additional work to be done was like pulling teeth. I asked on three separate occasions if the palo verde in our front yard needed to be trimmed. The first time I was told the service crew could give an opinion on that (never happened), I then followed up with an email which went unanswered, finally the third time I was told an arborist could come out but I'd have to be there (between 12-2 on a Tuesday.. right because it's not like I work full time). Lack of consistency in the servicing, unable/unwilling to answer basic questions about additional work, no thanks. I've since terminated my account with them (which was acknowledged by their office), but then got a subsequent notification from their office that I'm on the schedule for another servicing. The only positives are that they have an online payment system and take credit cards without a surcharge. Giving a two star rating as it's not like anything ever looked worse after a servicing - so I guess there's that. read more

I was in a bind and needed to find a landscaping / lawn service quickly. Yelp to the rescue! A quick search lead me to AMS Landscaping where I left a message on a Friday that was quickly returned by Eli who setup a crew for the coming Monday. The crew was at my home around 1pm, we walked around the property discussing what needed to be done and as soon as a price was determined and agreed upon the crew got to work. The three person crew worked very quickly and efficiently with great attention to detail. When they were done the crew lead walked me around the property again to make sure it was completed to my satisfaction. It was! If you need a company that shows up when expected, responds promptly, performs brilliantly and prices reasonably I would recommend AMS. Thanks for the great work! I requested a quote from these guys to remove all sorts of weeds and plants from my front yard. Rather than giving me a full quote, they demanded a credit card on file.. I asked them to call me before doing anything and have yet to get a call, so I never reached out again since there's no way I'm giving my credit card without a finalized quote. A few days later they show up at my door knocking at 7am ready to work/taking pictures of my house. I already had the job done by someone else. Poor communication. I have recently hired AMS to do my regular mow and blow service. I decided to bring them on because of how responsive Eli was to my questions and emails. As a new home owner, I am no landscaping expert and I have a lot of questions. Eli is always very fast to respond, he worked quickly to get me a temp crew before my full time crew started, and when I ask for honest Do It Yourself Advice, he provides it without just trying to upsell me. Being the post-apocalyptic disaster my front and backyards were, I expected to be shelling out a lot of cash for a cleanup. Not only did AMS have the best price (I checked with 3 other companies), they did an amazing job for the cheapest, and even cleaned up the back alley I hadn't even thought about. Eli was incredibly prompt at returning emails and setting up an appointment, and was even great about helping me with a payment option that suited me best. I think yelp needs to make the Message notification section of the site much more noticeable. I have logged in several unrelated reviews since I wrote this one and at no time did I notice the comments from Eli reaching out over 7 months ago trying to make this right. In response to his inquiry and for public knowledge : Communication began in email beginning December 3rd 2012. He sent a very professional and thorough bid on Dec 6th- Lead property manager left several voice mails to clarify his bid work (mostly about who he contracts for palms) and got no reply- We then emailed on the18th asking for return phone calls- then again on Dec 26th- I wrote my original review on Jan 9th and still at that point had not heard back from AMS. Yes this was all during the holiday season, but work doesn't stop for us so we had to move on at that point and use a different vendor. Ironically the vendor we chose was less then appealing and we are looking for a new contractor to handle our west valley portfolio. I would love to give AMS another chance and provide even more stars to this review. read more

Very rude people. Used them for a while. They came over rang more door bell about 20 times while my 5 month old is sleeping asked me to let the dogs in which was fine but my husbands trailer was in the way which I didn't know I suggest if they could move it and the worker says to me ummm that not my job I'm a landscaper in which is completely understandable but don't give me and attitude when I'm paying you for a service. I can't review their work, only the response. I emailed AMS for an estimate, Eli responded and told me they do not do work in Tolleson, AZ and gave me referrals to other companies. The thing that is strange is on their Yelp map it shows they work in Tolleson. It shows they go out to as far as 195th Ave and down almost to the city of Maricopa. I appreciate the quick response and referrals, but the map is misleading and needs to be updated. read more

Wow is all I can say. I got AMS's number through a Friend that said this company is Top Notch. I called to try and schedule a yard cleanup and Eli said he was currently in the area and would stop by to give me a bid within a hour. One hour later I get a e-mail with 3 pictures of my yard in its current condition and a reasonable price that stopped me from shopping anywhere else. The job was done two days later from a three man crew that cleaned up after they were done. This is the way business should be done, it would save me a lot of headaches . The first time my husband contacted AMS was a few weeks ago to get our sprinklers fixed. The first guy who came out was not familiar with the system so they had to reschedule and bring somebody different. Regardless, my mother in law gave the first guy instructions and told him specific instruction on what needs to be done on certain sprinklers (which sprinklers need to be shut off, need to be turned on etc.), she was happy since this guy was writing everything in his notes. The second guy came and "fixed" some of the sprinklers, only for us to find out that they were not working. We had to call last week (or the week before) to ask them to re-check everything since the sprinklers were not going off. The third guy came out and made the sprinklers come off, however, still did not work on the sprinklers that needed to be shut off and the ones that need to be turned on. read more

I found them on Google and asked for a quote, the next day I had an email from Eli telling me how much it was, inclusive of pictures of my yard so he could reference which areas he had a plan for. We paid $180 for them to do weed control in the front yard 2 weeks ago and all they did was whack down the existing weeds. Pre-emergent wasn't included. So now my front yard is overrun with weeds again. Last company we hired did the front AND backyard PLUS trees and bushes for $160. Won't be using AMS again. read more

They pulled up and sat in their truck for 10 mins. then drove off. 30 mins later I received an email telling me they had a bigger job and could not get to mine. Our front yard was a complete disaster and faces a busy street. After researching and getting a few quotes we decided to give AMS our business and so glad we did. Ryan came out, listen to our wants and needs, and then gave us some great ideas. The Emerald Palo Verde and different selections of cactus are fantastic. Our new watering system works great. (though I will have to have an electrician move the electrical run for the timer - but that's ok - I need other electrical work done as well.) I contacted AMS for winter seeding of my lawn. I asked them for 3 things that I wanted. A clean up (mow, clean up weeds), then the winter seed being put down. The third thing I requested is a hole to be filled in front of my porch. They gave me quote, and I agreed to hire them to do this job. They sent me an email, about an hour after their crew was supposed to show up at 7am, letting me know they rescheduled me. Bummer, because I took the day off. They rescheduled me for about 5 days later. 5 days later they came out to do the job. A team of 2 people showed up to my house and were very friendly. They completed the job and left before I could ask them any questions. I emailed their receptionist and was told the timers were set and I didn't need to do anything with them, till they come back in 2 weeks to reseed (which I was just now hearing about). I also had noticed that a rake and shovel were left in my backyard, against a wall in the corner. The person emailing me told me that those were my tools. I let her know I thought that was pretty unprofessional to use my own tools. She told me they had not done that, and she was "sorry for any inconvenience." I also realized a day or two later that to fill that hole I had asked about, they literally dug a hole on the side of my yard and used that dirt (and a ton of rocks) to fill the hole. I bring up the rocks, because it rained the next day and all the rocks came to the surface and now I have rocks all over the lawn. They gave me a day that they were coming out to do the reseeding. They did not give me a time frame, and when I finally emailed later that afternoon, to find out when they were coming, I was told they weren't going to make it out that day. I spent the entire day at home, waiting for them to show up, only to be told they need to reschedule again. They finally came out on the next day to finish the reseeding. I would have given them at least 2 stars, because the winter grass does seem to be coming in okay, but it was just a horrible experience and all I could get out of them when I expressed these frustrations was "sorry for any inconvenience." Well, I'm sorry I chose them to do work on my lawn. read more

I rarely write reviews (bc truthfully I never have the time)...but I feel this company deserves a shout out & I feel the obligation to write something about them because working with them was truly a great experience. This review will be a tad lengthy bc I feel it is important to provide details on why I was so impressed by them. I owned a property in Peoria, AZ that was on the market to be sold. I live in a suburb of Chicago...very far away. Never having lived in AZ, I was clueless on any reputable companies so I blindly chose them from looking at reviews on Yelp. I did call a few other companies as well, however, they gave me the best quote. My realtor informed us that we needed to have weed removal done, so that was the service I was specifically needing. I set up the service (which happened to be the day prior to having the inspection done for closing on the house) and on that day I received a call from the landscaper that while they were weeding, a small rock hit the sliding glass door & the glass shattered. This was an unfortunate & stressful moment (since now we are due to close on the house). However I was super understanding as accidents do happen...but most importantly, they were up front & honest from the get-go. They literally called me right when it happened! That is priceless...knowing that the home was vacant, they could have easily left & denied anything happened when I truly would have had no evidence. Furthermore, instantly they called a glass guy to fix the door (& obviously took responsibility for the cost...which sadly on their end cost more than the weeding service). Fast forward to the glass guy...make a long story short on this, the glass guy they had hired did a really shoddy job & the buyer of my home was not wanting to move forward at this point. I took care of the issue, got the glass fixed, paid for the door & AMS refunded me. It was a significant financial loss to them, & I felt horrible for that. But they took full responsibility, returned EVERY email & call promptly, & I can't speak highly enough about them. Their honesty & customer service EXCEEDED any expectations I had...you don't find many companies around like that anymore nowadays. Yes I'm aware that this got ridiculously long but I'm frustrated to say the least. Now understand that I'm not a new customer, I've been with them for about a year. The crew had been doing a decent job maintaining my lawn. The problems started when we moved and had to switch the maintenance service to a different address. Seems simple enough right? Come give me a new estimate and send the crew to start on my new place after we move. I informed them even before we moved and gave them the date and new address. First of all, you're lucky if anyone even picks up the phone, and then you leave voice messages that gets ignored. I left 2 voice mails that never got acknowledged. Then I finally spoke to Joanna who said Eli would be down to my new house asap to give me an estimate. Days later, I called again and there began the merry go round of Eli claiming that he spoke to my spouse, (never happened), emailing an estimate that we never got it, not even in spam mail so who knows, Eli saying my front lawn has grass when it's all desert landscape so I THINK he went to the wrong address but Joanna had no idea and couldn't confirm so I still don't know what happened there. And it's not like we're in a hard to find part of town, it's only about A MILE AWAY from my old place. So I had to wait again for him to do another estimate. That took forever. They finally gave me one and promised to come this week . No one has showed up since. Considering it's a long holiday weekend tomorrow, it's obviously a no show with zero communication as to why. What a complete and utter waste of my time And as of today (3rd July) I still have not received any response to my email a week ago giving a start date or or any acknowledgement when I finally emailed them to ask them to cancel my account. Keep in mind that I'm a paying customer and here I am left wondering if they even care. After nearly a month of waiting, calls and emails, I have been more than humanly patient in giving them the benefit of the doubt. All this for a simple change of maintenance address is absolutely RIDICULOUS. It is unprofessional that a problem persist with barely any followup effort from AMS nor should it be MY responsibility to have to keep chasing after them like I had to. It's also incredibly disrespectful to waste my time like this. Their communication is just horrible and customer service is obviously not their priority after they got your business. So this epic essay is to say - DO NOT USE AMS if you value your precious time and sanity. There are too many other companies out there who are hungry for your business to deal with so much incompetency. Sure it starts out well but heaven help you if you need any sort of help or changes to your service later on because then it all goes straight . to . hell. read more

From start to finish, I did not receive great service with AMS. When I called, I was helped by what appeared to be an answering service. They couldn't answer any of my questions and said someone would call me back. Someone did 3 days later. They then stopped by the following week to give an estimate. We discussed what I wanted done which I thought was fairly simple and they quoted me a price. They did not complete the job. My backyard was a mess and there were still weeds everywhere. A week or so later, someone called to retrieve payment from me. I explained that I didn't get the services I was promised. They said someone would return my call. No one ever did. Weeks and weeks passed of request for payment and me leaving messages disputing what I was charged since I didn't get the full services done. Eventually, because there seemed to be no resolution and I wanted it to be over with, I paid the amount they were asking for. No one has ever called me back. They never returned or followed-up. There was zero concern on their end. Very disappointed, as I selected this company based upon the solid reviews on Yelp. read more

I had them come out to spray and remove weeds. Within a week, the weeds were already popping back up and they keep on coming back. I thought I would give them another chance, so I called them out for a quote to clean up my front yard. Now, it hasn't been trimmed in a while, HOWEVER, It's no where near overgrown, it just needed to be cleaned up and reshaped. They came out and quoted $195. I've had the front yard be in worse shape than it is now and a guy only charged $120 and did a great job. Too bad I don't have his contact information so he can get the money. When I mentioned that to Chris (from AMS), he didn't really care that someone has done it for less and just said OK and hung up. Wouldn't recommend them. read more

I was a long time customer. Not any more. I understand that there has been some apparent issues with your prior office manager; however, making that your customer's problem is bad business practice. Apparently I was never billed for January and June. That is so long ago and now I have to pay those invoices and what we expected to be a monthly service apparently is an every 4 weeks service so I was charged twice in September. That wouldn't have been so bad if these sudden other invoices didn't suddenly come up as well making the amount due way too much. We've been a customer for 2 years and even moved and recommended you to the buyers of our old house and kept you with this one. From the below reviews it seems that quite a few customers have been lost, including us, to the errors. I hope other customers situations are handled better. It really stinks because the actual service performed was great. Absolutely no complaints and we had a beautiful lawn. read more

Bad billing practices. Look they do great work. My problem is the billing. In the fall they billed me for work I asked them not to do. When I got the bill, I sent them an email asking for them to remove that part. No response. They continue to send me the bills for it till I sent an angry email. They apologize, fix the bill and we move on. Six months later and there is a 3 month gap where they don't send me a bill. When it finally comes, I pay all three months online. Right before I go on vacation, they don't come to the house. I figure I messed up the week. I come back from vacation and no work was done. I email to ask my account status. No response. I receive a bill. It says I did not pay those three previous months. So I recheck everything and find that the online payments all have the same invoice number and it is not mine. Crap. Something got messed up in the online system and it looks like I paid someone else's bill. I email them with copies of my payments, which I also verified were withdrawn from my bank account. No response. Two months later I have moved on to another company and figure this place just doesn't care. Then I get another bill saying I still owe for the three months minus my previous $70 payment. What???!!!!! I did not make a $70 payment on that date. So it looks like my payments don't go to my account, but someone else's does? Obviously something is seriously jacked up with this account. I understand mistakes happen, but it is the lack of response that is causing this conflict to escalate, just like it did last time. There you go. Good lawn work, bad billing. read more

I visit Yelp alot when looking for different companies. AMS received alot of positive reviews. I sent a email late sunday night, Eli was quick to return my email the next morning. His crew came out quoted me a price and was able to clean up my landscaling in the back yard that same day. Only took about an hour maybe and hour and a half.
