Wasn't as pleased as the previous reviewer. The location of the shop was very odd in the sense that it wasn't in your typical shopping strip with a sign that blends in with the material of the building thus if you blind you will miss it. I believe that the store was once a house because the shop is divided into two small rooms. The worker (not sure if it was the owner) seemed nice I say seemed because she really didn't say to much to me. There was a decent amount of clothes in comparison to your normal thrift/confinement store (about 6 double sided short and 2 round racks) Pricing was expected at a confinement shop. Final thoughts: I would return to kill some time but probably wouldn't become a regular customer simply because the clothes seemed to be for a much older crowd. read more

I was shopping in another local thrift store when someone next to me in the cramped aisle between shirts and sweathers turned to me and said, "This place really doesn't have great stuff, you should go to Ample Accents. Have you ever been there?" I had to admit I hadn't been and asked where it was. The woman told me as she tried on a jacket over her t-shirt since the store didn't have dressing rooms, and said it was the perfect place for women "like us." By "like us," she meant in the upper digits on the clothing size chart. The sizes not often found in a typical thrift store or those sizes you have to seek out since they sometimes can be only a few hanging garments on a small rack in the very back corner of the shop. With cautious optimism and a high level of curiosity, I sought out Ample Accents and what a dream this place is for women like me! From size 16 on up, the clothes aren't just what you'd find in the JMS [Just My Size] section of Walmart, nor is everything designed with horizontal stripes! From racks of casual Saturday night outfits to classic workday styles and lingerie such as camaisoles and slips to uber dressy outfits you can proudly wear to your cousin's wedding, Ample Accents has it all. Bags and shoes included and accessories to fine tune any outfit adorn the walls. Ample Accents is a consignment store, which means that the owner of the clothing brings it in and gets a portion of the sale price when the item sells and/or store credit. It also gives the buyer significant savings on such labels as Sag Harbor, Notations, Jones of New York and other top name brands. Michele who owns the shop is fabulous. She cheers you on when you try on an outfit, letting you know how terrific you look and gives an honest opinion when something doesn't look quite as it should. Her suggestions for completing an outfit with a belt or a pair of shoes is usually spot-on and quite a confidence booster for those of us not often used to looking in the full length mirror without a skewed view. On a vist there once, a woman who had never been in the store before was ecstatic about the choices that lay before her in the tiny 400-500 sqare foot space. "I feel I'm finally with my tribe!" she squealed with excitement upon trying on numerous garments that fit and looked fabulous on her. It's that kind of excitement that permeates its way through the two rooms Michele has set up in the shop. Large size women have such problems finding affordable, beautiful and excellent fitting clothes, so when we do find a place that has all three of these attributes, it's hard not to be excited. read more

I would not recommend this store to anyone. The owner was not friendly when I got to my appointment she was on the phone with a friend and I had to wait for her to finish her conversation. She did not want to take a coat that was an excellent condition because the button was missing. The button was not missing she did not know how to properly button the coat. When I had to pick up my clothing that was not sold she handed me a princely payment of $16 and change. included in my clothing was a suit and the winter coat. Both of these items should've cost more than $16. My time getting the clothing ready and taking it to the store cost more than $16. I should've turned around and left the store when I first went there. It was a lessons learned. I will recommend this store to no one. read more

I can't say enough about what a negative experience I've had with this "store" in addition to the disappointment upon going there as a shopper and finding that what could be a great idea for the under serviced plus size community, is horribly dated and unconcerned with appealing to anyone born after 1970. (The shoulder pads. Oh god, the shoulder pads.) The let down didn't stop there though, I had a ton of clothes to get rid of and was excited about the prospects of making some money from them. I'm 30 and relatively stylish, if my friends can be trusted. After scheduling a time to meet with the owner so she could pick through my clothes she selected maybe a sixth of my offering. Mostly my more formal items. She jotted everything down, gave me a receipt and seemed nice enough. The deal is you get a set amount of time for your items to sell and then after that time she sends you a check for your share. Well, as a busy returning student I lost track of the receipt, I think it's for 60 days. I called and asked when my time frame was up and was told it was two weeks ago, that two items sold, the rest were sent to Salvation Army and that I'd revive my check within a couple of weeks. I never reviewed the check. What made all of this worse was that the owner was completely cold and unprofessional when I called to ask about when the sale period ended. She told me in no uncertain terms it was my responsibility to stay on top the end date and come collect my I purchased things on that exact date. I live an hour away, so in any event, forgetting the end date or not, this is a ridiculous expectation and not one that was outlined when I went there. I had no idea my things would end up gone. In addition to all this, my mom went there about a month after my drop off and said she didn't recognize any of the clothes as being mine, and she'd gone through them with me before taking them in. I suspect this woman is making quite a racket with her "store" which yes, is in quite a shady looking local. Looks like an old train stop that's been abandoned. I digress. So she takes her inventory from women, winds up not paying them for their things, then donates what she claims doesn't sell to charity, for the tax write off, no doubt. Make your own assumptions about what kind of character she is, in my eyes, she's a crook. read more

I love going to Ample Accents. The store owner is very friendly and easy to talk to. The clothes there are nice, clean and always in good condition. I bought a white 9West Coat there in December 2014 for $20 and it is perfect. I have received so many compliments on that coat. It is so stylish. I love going there read more
