Best gelato ever. Nice, flavorful, creamy and smooth in texture. I wandered in from the alley, and even though it was rainy and bone chilling cold that night (and before I even had dinner), I caught sight of their gelato in their display case and wanted to just try a couple samples. Then it happened. I fell in love with their mango flavor and just had to have a scoop and on a waffle cone. So picture this: Raining, bone chilling cold in the winter time, me bundled up in boots, turtleneck, scarf and a coat.. licking a scoop of mango gelato on a waffle cone - and enjoying each moment of it. Because, frankly, Amarino offers some of the best gelato on earth - well, at least it's the best gelato in Paris! My best friend and I travel Europe extensively. Last year, we did a month log tour of Provence and Tuscany (starting in Paris). We consumed more gelato on that trip than recommended by the FDA. (If there had been gelato consumption meters strapped to our chests, we would have been pegging out at GLUTINOUS!) At the end of our trip, we compared notes. We agreed, a small locally-owned shop in San Gimignano offered the best gelato in Italy and Amarino offered the best gelato in France. Purely for the purposes of comparison - "It's for the Science, I tell you!" - we had multiple flavors at Amarino. My BFF enjoyed the Speculos and the coconut. I was/am still in love with their Amarina. Big, fat, juicy, sour cherries in sweet, sweet cream! The stores are always busy but remain remarkably clean and inviting.
