This place has a variety of soft serve creations (primarily vanilla and cinnamon chocolate based)…read moreand I tried the "Gramma's Apple Pie" as recommended by the staff: vanilla soft serve, cinnamon drizle, apple pie, whipped cream. It was huge (16oz) , full of apple pie chunks and very delicious indeed. They also have patio seats to let you eat your ice cream while looking at the beach. However, be careful when the soft serve melts...

Maya's at White Rock Beach is my go-to for gelato when I come down here in the summer…read more The ice-cream is popular here as well judging by the foot traffic & big smiles on people's faces after each lick. I find it a convenient spot for my cool down treat as it's on the strip right close to the foot of White Rock Pier, Canada's longest. Ask for samples first before you settle on a flavour or two. My favourite for gelato right now is still Bella Gelateria, in Vancouver. Maya's selection of gelato is limited, but 100% worth it especially when it's 35°C / 95F outside. There's plenty of restaurants nearby as well with several fish & chip spots & burger joints. Parking is a challenge along the entire strip, but if you're patient, unlike me, you'll find a spot so worry not. Keep in mind that the strip which runs along the beach, draws heavy traffic. The ice cream tasted great but is the rolled really still a novelty here? Canada's pricing and tax…read morehas always been much higher but is inflation this bad from the Biden effect? (Said tongue in cheek of course, as no I don't blame Biden.) At any rate, I doubt it. What got me was the $12 price tag, plus the reminder to tip. One had to ask for paper towels off the roll (and she saw we were clearly buying for little kids). The spoons were designed for Dixie cups, (you know the kind you would get with the cheap Lucerne ice cream as a child, or for Americans whatever your local ice cream was?) and I had to ask for a second one which still broke. Seriously, you can't afford an entire box of spoons per person, at this price? I don't fault the girls making it as they did a fine job. What I do fault is that they also charged a dollar for an extra cup (under normal prices it would be fine, but again this was $12 for the equivalent of probably two scoops). Then the second spoon broke and I wasn't about to ask for another. There are tons of ice cream shops up and down the "strip" but I guess one is paying for the premium cart location and the rolling effect. I can't complain about the taste, but this is one of those location price type of places. Also, no option for a cone of any kind (a cone bowl might have worked) but I suppose that would have been an extra $5. Keep all of that in mind when ordering here.

I first saw this cart while walking around false creek. I've had rolled ice cream before but not…read morerecently. They had a variety of flavours and everything was $10. At first, I thought $10 was a bit expensive but it was a huge portion (would reccomend sharing with another person), it's big like a big bowl of frozen yogurt. I decided to get the white chocolate raspberry flavour. You can watch them make it through the window on the truck and the raspberries were like a compote and they mixed it in with the dairy and white chocolate bits. They topped it off with whipped cream and caramel sauce. The rolled gelato is very refreshing for a hot summer day, it has a similar refreshing taste to bingsoo or frozen yogurt, it is not thick or super creamy like ice cream or soft serve. The white chocolate raspberry flavour is really good but there are lots of raspberry seeds and white chocolate bits you have to chew through so if you don't like that then I don't reccomend this flavour for you LOL! The staff are super friendly and they offer a stamp card. I definitely will be returning to try more flavours!
