If you are like me and know very little about the Amish in our country, this is the way to learn so…read moremuch about the history and current lifestyle. Rich, the owner/operator was excellent in his narration of the Amish. His parents were Amish but left the community before he was born. He went over some "rules" about how to show respect to the Amish such as don't take any pictures without asking first. During our three-hour tour, we were able to see the beautiful countryside, farms, and homes, staying off the main roads is the only way to see just how awesome this area is! We made three stops in the Amish-owned and operated stores and workshops. The Amish that we met were very friendly and enjoyed showing us their great businesses. I learned so much about the Amish today and have more respect for their culture. Please consider taking one of the number of tours that Rich offers. I wish I had found his website earlier as I would have loved having dinner with the Amish and learning more about them! Please do keep in mind that the Amish may or may not take credit cards! It is best to have cash! Also, their stores, etc, are not open on Sundays!

He gave us a choice of what we wanted to see, and he also gave us many ideas for places to visit and to dine afterwards. Our 6-year-old granddaughter was with us, which is why we chose a shorter tour, but he was so nice and accommodating with her that I'm sure she would have liked to spend another hour seeing the sights. I have been to the area countless times in the past decades, but I learned so much more about the culture than I had ever known before. We will definitely repeat the experience, as he has a varied selection of tours.

Gotta love a place serving alcohol I can walk to from home! Last summer these guys expanded and…read moreadded a patio and tasting room. This was my first time here since it was a vet, but after walking past several times and seeing the parking lot full, I had to come in and see what the hubbub is all about. Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon. Was quite surprised at the size of the tasting room and the attention to detail they used when building the place. Met the wine maker who is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Was conflicted between the Cab and the Red blend. Asked for a sample and was pleased with both, but the blend was truly unique. Ordered a full glass, which came with a side of chips and a few chocolate raspberry candies. Everything was first class. Will leave with a couple of bottles but must come back when the patio is open and the band is playing.

And they have a little stage set up for musicians to play. We were treated with some entertainment from Alley Kats. I think that was their name. Lots of fun. Now to the wine. We all have different tastes. Sweet, semisweet and dry. There was something for all of us. We talked to the owner who was a super nice guy and he got us all situated. We got the Red Dolce. It was a bit sweet and smooth. Very good. Everyone else seemed happy and enjoyed their wine. We also got some cheese, crackers and salami to munch on. Also tastee. Lots of people having a good time. It never seemed crowded or too much. Inside looks nice. So if it rains or in the winter it will be nice to sit inside. You can open a tab or pay as you go. Prices aren't bad for a glass or a bottle. Glasses are in the $7 range or so and bottles in the $23 range. It's a nice fun atmosphere to sit and listen to music for awhile or just grab a glass and head out afterwards. This is a definite return!
