I Visited Findley State Park this past weekend! Besides the rain it was a good experience. There is a lot of nice hiking / mountain biking trails and a beautiful lake! The camping grounds were mainly RVs and Campers but plenty of people camped with tents too. Overall the park is very family & dog friendly and there is electricity on some sites. The grounds are huge and there are tons of places to walk and hike. There are Decent amenities with showers and bathrooms with stalls, and sinks with running water. The sites each have a picnic table and fire circle, some are shaded and some are mostly sunny. The owners drive around a golf cart all day making sure everything is going well for everyone. The rules are 2 cars per site but there is easy parking not far from the sites for any other cars. Quiet times seem to be from 10/11pm - 7/8am. But generally where we camped it was quiet for most of the time! We were on site 235 and had another site across the street that was on a path, and the RACCOONS are savage. They came within 5 feet of us with no hesitation but we put away food so we didn't lose anything crucial. Overall it was a great place to take kids and enjoy a weekend away! Being from medina, the drive is about 35 minutes, so it was easy getting to and from the park. I would absolutely return to hike, canoe, or paddle-board. I recommend visiting if you need a weekend away! read more

Rating the beach area. It looks like it's been abandoned. They blocked two parking areas, turns, etc. The grass is overgrown. Maybe they do not have the resources to keep up with the upkeep. It's such a great place, it was sad to see. read more

Peaceful and uncrowded I go here multiple times each year to hike, bike ride and visit the beach. It is a great park. Barely ever really crowded. Beach area - rental for canoes and boats, small sandy area and changing area. Even a swing set right by the beach. Trails - natural surface trails that connect all the parts of the park Fishing - lots of areas to go around the lake camping - nice bathroom facilities read more

Beautiful and quiet, at least on a Sunday night in October. The campsites here are beautiful and spaced well apart. Great walking trails, too. The only downside was not too many bathrooms that aren't primative. read more

Findley State Park is a 4 star hotel of primitive camping - a very convenient, clean well laid out, smooth camping spots through out. The convenience even extend into having hay covering ground after rainy weather so to keep the ground from being too wet, restrooms within walking distance even from the most remote sites, well market site numbers, fire rings with cooking grates, park, disc golf, swimming, boat ramp, mountain bike trail, extensive hiking trails, water stations, and garbage dumps scattered throughout all within reach. This is a big contrast to my usual experience of primitive camping, but the luxuries were all welcome during my recent camping trip in the fall and during a very cold (32 degrees) night in a tent. Firewood is easily accessible by the registration office nicely bundled for your convenience. My experience with the mountain bike trail was a mix of challenge, fun, and several wipe-outs. Be prepared for a challenging ride on this bike trail and if you are a novice be very careful and just walk you bike down and up the very steep slopes especially the trail on the west side of the park. I have gone kayaking several times to Findley Lake, the lake is always calm, quiet and only allow small fishing motors. The lake has many nooks for you to float into and enjoy the quiet nature that surround it (see one of the photos I've added). I've spotted blue heron and many other kinds of birds, as well as tortoise here. The park has a well kept beach with roped off swimming area. There are changing rooms outdoor showers. Hiking especially in the fall is very beautiful here. The zig zagging paths at times take you right to the edge of the lake or take you through the damn / overflow area. Butterfiles, wild flowers, all line the paths. The beauty is hard to describe, some pictures are added to convey the sights. This park is a must stay in summer and especially in the mid to late fall season when crowds are very light and seclusion is guaranteed. Just ensure your sleeping bags and tents or RVs are rated for the cold temps at night. read more

I went on a camping trip with several families and had a ball! The camping grounds were clean and not crowded. The noise level was minimal and everyone was friendly. There are garbage bins strategically located throughout the park, a lake and fun activities. There are electric & non- electric lots, cabins, as well as areas for tents and mobile homes. The restroom facilities near us (we were in tents/non-electric) only had 3 stalls and sinks with maybe 5 showers. We were also warned that there'd been a "raccoon issue" lately and to keep our coolers locked in our trunks. While there a dog did attack a raccoon - it sounded horrible. Other than that, staff and volunteers were extremely friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful time! No issues at all. read more

The bike trail is very good single track and it will beat you up if your not in decent shape.I will say Ohio has a very good park system that nobody uses in some areas.The beach area is decent but needs more sand.I know they have camping and even a church service in the woods on Sundays starting at 10am.I will add if your going to ride this trail do it on a decent bike from a bike shop because a cheap bike will break down here. read more

This was my first time camping at findley state park and I will never go back there again. My neighbor who was the camp host obviously did not like colored people. We had the rangers called on us twice for noise complaints during the day. Quiet hours are from 10pm til 7am mind you. There were people around us who were way louder then us. We also were told not to park on the grass. But there were vehicles parked on the grass on other sites. We left a day early because the ranger came and said outloud that if he was called out again he would give us a citation and kick us out. I will never go there again. They made me feel so uncomfortable. read more

A great family destination to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Fellow campers are all friendly. Grounds are well kept and bathhouses are cleaned daily. Sites come in all shape and forms with plenty of options to meet needs (tents bs camper). Hiking trails are fun for kids. Fishing is VERY easy (one caught on a blank hook). Frequent Environmentalist events and even movie nights at the pavilion. Swimming for most will not be done. Beach is not what most would expect. The beach is small and goose poop is plentiful. But canoe and row boat options might be a good alternative. read more

Unfortunately the checkin office closes early. Had a lovely site until the site next to us became occupied. The occupants let their dogs out in front of our site without leashes and allowed dogs onto our site to urinate. Our leashed dogs went. Later, their dogs were loose again. One came over to our yard, and one ran across the street. No rangers around!!! Very rude people! read more

Ohio's State Parks are a treasure, and should be cherished as such. Our recent stay here turned from a not-so-great rainy Friday night, into a beautiful crisp fall day. Findley is a great park and a great place to spend a few days. CAMPGROUND: We primitive camp (no electricity, in a tent, the way camping should be!) It just so happened that the site we picked (59) got us a complete private weekend. The rain and the chilly Ohio fall mornings might have taken a part in that. But the site handled the rain well, and was a great private location. We were even visited by a family of deer and a curious raccoon during the weekend. The woods surrounding the campground are beautiful as well, offering lots of flora and fauna to admire, key this weekend was the abundance of many species of fungus, which were growing everywhere around Findley. The picnic table was solid, and the fire ring had a grate for cooking. Clean outhouse, short walk to the shower house, fresh water and a dumpster closeby, not much more we could ask for. HIKING TRAILS: The closer you stay to the campgrounds, the less the trails are marked due to a large amount of unmarked cross trails that cut through the woods. We were able to find the lake trail, and subsequently followed the lake on the creekbank, buckeye, larch, and hickory grove trails. Although the mountain bike trail intersects in a few places, we never encountered any bikers. Some areas of the trails needed some maintenance, as there were some standing puddles and epic mudholes. But for the most part, the weathered wide trails were pleasant and easy to hike, offering great views, and more excellent floral and fauna sightings. PARK IN GENERAL: The park is great, enough for me to want to buy a magnet to put on my fridge as a reminder of the wonderful places like this I get a chance to visit. The camping price is a bit steep for primitive non-electric ($22/night), but I can see that the sites are well maintained, the fire pits and bathrooms get cleaned regularly, and there's not tons of trash everywhere. For a place with 200+ camp sites, that's no easy feat. I'm very happy that the fee I pay supports the cause of having such a wonderful resource so close. True you can hear the occasional train whistle in the background, and some planes flying overhead, but given the location, there's plenty of nature to connect with and enough quiet to make for a peaceful trip. read more

A note beforehand, this review is based on a stay during an extremely busy time of year (July 4th weekend) so I don't know if my experience is valid during less busy times. We were in site 73. The site was sufficiently big that we were able to spread out a bit. Picnic table on site. fire ring. A nice wooded area behind camp to gather wood. It was surprisingly easy to find wood but I figured out why when we left and I read the rules. No gathering of firewood is permitted. Oops. The low review is based completely on our experience with staff. We actually had a ranger sneak into our campsite under the cover of darkness. He stepped into the firelight and told us that we "needed to lower our volume a little" and walked away. It seemed odd since we were only having a conversation at a low volume and not carrying on or anything. We also witnessed the ranger talk to a few other sites.The result of the overbearing patrol activities was two fold. One, campfire time was reduced to silence and barely audible whispering hoping that the ranger didn't come to yell at us. Two, following the activity of evening one, I was only able to count three sites still awake at 11pm when there were dozens the night before. What's the point of having a campfire with friends/family when you can't even communicate? I understand that it is necessary to patrol the campground. I don't understand when a ranger is so overbearing that his actions ruin a campfire. read more

Went to Findley for the first time last weekend & it was the most amazing time! I've never been camping before & couldn't have had a better first experience! As soon as we got there we were greeted by Melissa who was absolutely fantastic! She was sooo helpful & nice! She genuinely cared about the experience that we had! There are even awesome events hosted weekly by Wiz! He was such a sweet nice man & very helpful! Everything was amazingly priced! I seriously cannot say enough good things! I cannot wait to go back! There was even wine tasting that weekend!!! You seriously can't get much more awesome than that, lol! Definitely recommending Findley to anyone! read more

The camp lots were decent which is about the only nice thing I can say about it, however where we were we were surrounded by poison ivy (lot 228) there is a serious lack of bathrooms, we went canoeing and came back smelling like sewage because of the water and then the day we went to the beach we all ended up getting sick from the amount of Algae in the water, not to mention the bird poop all over the beach. It's a really cheap place to camp and you get what you pay for. read more
