Like other reviewers, we came w/in a few weeks of opening and it was not good. We went back today to give it a second try, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Pros: Server was friendly, place was clean, restroom was clean, food was decent, and they now accept credit cards. Cons: On a busy Sunday, there was one waitress, one cook, and a hostess. I compared the menu w/another Burton breakfast spot (starts w/J, ends w/C), and not only are the prices at least $3 more per item, but they charge extra for little things, such as sauces, onions, etc... The food took more than an hour to come to the table and the waitress did her best to keep the patient crowd happy with offers of free "anything you want". We really wanted this place to be better, and have been hoping to see it turn around. A breakfast place with decent prices would be packed, especially with all the local work crews. This is always so sad when a restaurant changes ownership and the quality goes downhill. The couple before us drove 1 hour to get there. They got served one at a time over the course of an hour. That should have been our warning. That and a nearly empty parking lot. The meals took a long time, way too long for wings and a pulled pork sandwich. The wings were raw inside and had to be sent back. Worse yet, they had no seasoning. Our waitress frantically ran around and tried her best including giving us free dessert. We've been to Amish Country Kitchen twice now. First time was within 2 weeks of opening and this time, a few months after. Neither time impressed us in any aspect! Breakfast was nothing special and the home fries tasted like they had been refrigerated for awhile! Then lunch, bland and certainly nothing to speak off. The fried chicken was overcooked, with zero juices on it. The other weird thing is that it's 'cash only.' The have an atm, but regardless! The service was nice; they did seem to be short staffed though. The buffet was nice for $20 including a drink. The food overall was good. The green beans were a little sour and they were out of corn and rolls. But the chicken, stuffed cabbage, and mashed potatoes were good. Nice little salad bar. Great place. Nice and clean. Waitress was good at her job. Now to the food. This was our second time to this restaurant. First time was a few days after opening, food was hot and ok. So we tried today (8/23/2025). Food at the buffet looked good. So I tried it and the wife had just the salad side with soup, she wasn't impressed. I had the full buffet. Salad was old, chicken cold, Salisbury stake cold and almost raw, mac and cheese cold but good, potatoes good but cold, gravey cold and like pudding, and veggies could have been better. Told Waitress and she said sorry, I expected the manager to show up. So much for that. Finally we have a restraint in Middlefield with a buffet that has fresh food thats not out of a can. The chicken is awesome everything was great. The wings are huge and wonderful tasting. 10/4/2025 Horrible...buffet was disgusting. Meats were cold and dried out. There was nothing edible on it for 20 bucks. It was awful will never go back. Waitress was rude no refills were offered not even on water service totally sucked. Didn't even ask if we liked the food. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! Very disappointed. Food was fair to poor. Over priced for quality. We both had the full buffet $19.99 per person. This choice was made due to sandwiches & other menu items 13 to 17 dollars thinking might has well have a variety with the buffet. Salty over done fried chicken, no flavor stuffed pepper, oily sausage & terrible mashed potatoes just starch over cooked. Service was Waffle House style. Chicken wings were very, very, very small. No dinner rolls or dessert. There was a slotted spoon for the gravy. No pot roast or beef at all. Only choice of meat was the ham or fried chicken. Service was fair...I went and found our silverware. Saw several people walk in, look at the buffet and walk out without eating. The couple at the table behind us asked us if we thought it was worth the price--they did not! Carpet was horrible, dingy and dark. Stopped today for lunch. Fish sandwich looked liked two little chicken tenders and was mushy. They had no ice tea. My mom and I ate the food just because we were hungry. The whole experience service and food was horrible! After ordering it took 20 minutes for them to come out and tell us they didn't have what I ordered. I ordered what my wife got and 45 minutes later they bring it out and it was wrong. My wife was almost done eating when mine came out. I took a couple bites, and the chicken was raw and hers was burnt. The hostess nor the waitress could care less just said sorry have a good night and handed us the bill. My husband and I went for the first time tonight after seeing mixed reviews. We just got the buffet but we will be back to try something off the menu. The buffet was small yes, and could've used more variety (they had cabbage and noodles, sauerkraut and ribs, stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut and kielbasa....too much cabbage for a lot of people but I LOVE it so I'm not mad lol) BUT everything they did have was delicious. Salad bar was amazing and fresh (could use a better dressing selection), the fried chicken was so good, potatoes, gravy, etc was all really good. I am kind of mixed myself as it seemed pricey for the little variety they had, but then again I'm not mad because it was all good. I would also love to see a dessert included, even just a simple cookie or something. My son did order off the menu and got chicken tenders which were really good!!!! We will be back for sure. If I could rate this place a -10 I would. When I went I had 0 issues with the food, but a million issues with the management and the way the owners spoke to and treated their staff. The owners mom belittled her staff in front of customers. Yelling at them in front of everyone when it all should have been done behind closed doors or better yet in a professional way! While people are paying customers, I know first hand, staff was waiting weeks, months, or still waiting for their pay checks. Your staff can only do so much, when they are not supplied with the equipment and resources they need to perform their job at the level you are expecting. Its really sad when your employees were working open to close every day and being degraded and disrespected to the extent they were. At some point you would think, that when 1 person leaves and the majority of the staff follows, the problem isn't the person that left, it's the owners and mother that are the problem. read more
