Service and food is always a 10/10 whenever we come. Nice mom and pop shop with very friendly owners. We were seated right away and had our order taken. We got Uni Nigiri and the Deluxe Sashimi Moriwase. Uni was incredible, filling, and melted in my mouth. The sashimi pieces were thick and delicious. Overall great service and great food.

I was in a time crunch when it came down to my daughter's dinner schedule. While I would have rather gone to a sushi spot closer to home, home was technically over an hour away. I did the next best thing and hopped on Yelp and stumbled across Amici Sushi. Ratings looked pretty good so I made the decision to dine. The establishment from outside is beautiful. The interior was just as easy on the eyes but it was limited in size. Our family of 3 was seated fairly quickly while there was an additional 4 parties already in the middle of dining. The menu is pretty big. Our family of 3 settled with: *California Roll [made with real crab] *Sushi Moriawase- 10pc chef's nigiri assortment. Comes with miso soup & salad. *Crunch & Munch- shrimp tempura & snow crab salad. Roll topped with Hokkaido Scallops *Tempura *Hot Tea *Iced Tea The best things eaten that night was the sushi moriawase nigiri assortment. Sushi rice wasn't great but the cuts of seafood were plentiful. Everything else was a solid disappointment. The miso soup was salty, the California Roll was one of the worst CA rolls I had ever eaten. At $12 a roll, the roll clearly states real crab is used and what a waste of real crab it was- Crab portion was stingy, flavorless, and tough to eat because everything fell apart. The Crunch & Munch, again, had real snow crab salad included. The crab salad was flavorless, unappetizing, and did not justify the $21 price tag. 1 star because presentation was great. 1 star because staff was nice. Other than that, this sushi spot is greatly overpriced. I admit it, I am sooooo sooo spoiled in SJ and these kind of establishments just don't do it for me. HARD PASS.

Sashimi $45 for 10 pieces?! Overpriced

45.00 for sashimi 10 pieces is wild. Service was alright. I also had a spider roll it was alright. 6/10. Most likely enjoy the beer more than the food.

Sushi and Tempura

Tried this sushi spot for the first time. Location was clean and staff was very friendly. 10/10 for service and sushi was 10/10 as well as the combination tempura! Thank you!

Sushi Moriawase, very traditional, fish to rice ratio is perfect!

Great food, good service, nice and cozy, small but clean mom and pop place. Sushi Moriawase was oishi, can't get any traditional than that. Tempura was really good, thin and crispy batter. Gyoza was crispy and deliciously fried, and the sauce was amazing! Tuna and Salmon Kama is a must try if you love grilled fish. One of a few Japanese restaurants that serves Orion beer (originally from Okinawa), love it! I'm definitely coming back, and will recommend this place to friends and family. Sean and his wife (owner) were very friendly too!

Sashimi/sushi lunch combo

I'm a kind of tradition Japanese person. I used to go into the U.S. o-sushi restaurants in the 1980s and talk to the o-sushi preparer in Japanese to make sure he was licensed in Japan, to be sure about the safety of the food. Coming back to California, the flash freeze rule takes care of the safety, and usually changes the texture of the fish. I don't go many places to eat o-sushi because it isn't traditional. Today, the couple who own the house wanted to get sashimi. They couldn't agree on a place, so we ended up here. In ten years of living in the area, and several times in this parking lot, I'd never been to Amici Sushi. We were greeted quickly and felt welcome. Prices on the menu got our attention. We ended up with $132 something for three people. I guess that isn't awful when Jack in the Box can be $14 for one person. I ordered the sashimi/sushi lunch combo, which came with salada and miso soup. Price was not bad. They ordered a teriyaki/sashimi combo, poke salada, kimchi salada, spicy niku (meat) udon, and crab roll. Salada and miso soup arrived after a while. It wasn't very busy and we had the second table occupied out of three. The people who arrived with children ordered before we did, so we had to wait a bit. Salada seemed small. As well, the kimchi salada and the poke salada were small. The plate was huge which made it seem even less in size but they weren't big. I'm not a foodie, so my perception is different, I'm certain. The fish was surprisingly good. I've had sashimi in two other places in Manteca and Lathrop and they were barely adequate. Go to a traditional Japanese restaurant in Japan, New Jersey, or Gardena and you'll see what I mean. The sushi was unusual for me. I'm accustomed to rice on the bottom and fish on the top or maki zushi with seaweed around it. This was a roll without the seaweed. They fell apart but they had good flavor. It was a good experience, especially since we weren't their regular type of customer.

This place is absolutely amazing. Best in the valley in my opinion. Super clean restaurant. Owner is realy nice and personable. Very fast service. 5/5 Now lets get to the food. Sashimi is placed on top of a mountian of crushed ice so it remains cold. Fish is fresh and next texture. The sake melts in your mouth. The uni is a 10/10. Large portion and well worth your money. Comparable to fresh uni from japan. Definitely will be back very soon.

The sushi is pretty good for the central valley. It seems fresher than Raw Sushi Bistro, and the prices seem more fair. If you get the chirashi bowl, it comes with fresh wasabi which is a nice touch. The hamachi kama was a little dry. I ordered the pork tonkatsu and it had a nice crispy Panko crust. It was well cooked. Service is good, and the restaurant has a modern feel to it. Overall a very decent sushi restaurant

Pan fried udon

Love this place! The California rolls are made with real crab, which is a big deal to me. The udon and rolls were delish!! Very friendly staff, little short staffed but the waiter was on his game. It's a nice spot for a quick date or family outing. It's pricier than some local spots, but you absolutely get what you pay for. We will be back!

Mid to low quality fish for top tier prices. Chewy and stringy o-toro, fishy salmon, and just overall not great cuts. Rice is mediocre.

Freshest sushi meat I've had in town. Rolls are a great size too and the customer service is great.

Ask the Community - Amici Sushi

Can they do rolls with no rice? I saw a few pictures of cucumber rolls and was wondering what it was called? I'm doing keto and craving sushi bad lol

Yes! I asked Shawn to prepare my role with cucumber wrapped around it instead of rice. I get the red ocean with cucumber, it's delicious!!! Highly recommend it. I think he should name it Tiffini's Ocean, 😆!

Does anyone know if they have vegetarian "sushi"? I know that's sacrilege in the sushi business, but I love me some good veggie "sushi"!

The owner is awesome at accommodating special requests so you should be fine with getting "good veggie sushi".

In the last 6+ months the quality has seriously declined. Tonight was the last visit we will make. We ordered Mikasa roll, Dr roll and spider roll. All were most mediocre at best. The spider roll (deep fried soft shell crab) didn't even cover the roll. The "crab" was no longer than 4 inches. 3 pcs were without crab. The Mikasa roll ordered without cream cheese had extra cream cheese. The dr roll (normally served in 2 containers was served in only one) and the pokie on top was mostly red onion and sriracha. It was a blob of oniony krap over kappa makki. This was 60$ inedible meal. called to politely complain. I was hung up on. What professionalism. Mikasa is off our dining list.

They were served with more of a hoisin-style sauce instead of the typical peanut sauce. A little different, but still had good flavor overall. My dad ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was much bigger than what you usually get at other places. He said it was really good and definitely filling. ($6.95) I ordered the mild beef stew pho. It wasn't quite what I'm used to--the meat wasn't the typical stew cut and had more fat and gristle, with only a few pieces of beef. It wasn't my favorite, but the broth itself had good flavor. It also came with rice noodles, carrots, and even a couple pieces of lettuce, which was a bit different. Looking around, other dishes coming out looked really good. I'd definitely come back to try one of their sandwiches next time. Service was quick approx 30 seats. The ambiance was casual and welcoming clean, relaxed, and a comfortable spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. Nothing fancy, but it had a nice local feel.

Even when the chicken is moist it's unfortunate the taste is lacking often. My guess is that they prepare the food far in advance and just reheat the food as needed; sometimes there to go orders are ready way too quick so quality suffers. Also their fish sauce doesn't do it for me. It has no zing compared to those that other restaurants have. This is a pretty small restaurant but they manage to fit a decent number of tables. One of the few things that have going for them is that they are cheap. I feel like $11+ tax for a grilled chicken rice plate is unheard of these days. And they don't skimp out on the chicken, it's a good portion size.
