From Los Angeles and only found this restaurant because I was in town for my daughter's travel ball tournament. It was without a doubt the best sushi I've ever had. We had a side salad, miso soup, and a couple rolls but the best part was the blue fin, salmon, and yellow tail nigiri! It was so fresh and delicious that we had to order seconds. I love Amici sushi! The food is Delicious! We finally found a good sushi restaurant around the Stockton area. I am obsessed with their Hamachi Kama which is yellow-tail collar served with their special ponzu sauce! The tuna tartar was amazing too!!! They only use fresh fish and real crab! Amazing find in Lathrop! Located in a small plaza with other dining options, at the very end corner, is Amici's. Unassuming from the outside, but once inside, zen overwhelmes your senses. Sleek white leather chairs, white granite top tables, buddhas, grand orchid plant, and master sushi chef at the bar using personal torches to flame rolls and create wonderful sauces that play well with the specialty rolls. On our visit, we started with sushi spoons, which were so cute, with what the presentation and all. Literally, mini sushi rolls with spicy creamy sauce atop a ponzu glaze, served on a spoon. As I was looking for more wasabi to put on my roll, I picked up the spoon, and there it was, wasabi used as a binder to keep the spoon in place on the glass serving dish. When you spoon the roll into your mouth, the wasabi blends well with the rest of the components. You don't need to add more soy sauce or wasabi or siracha for that matter. You couldn't anyway, since there isn't any on the table, nor could I spy any in the server station. We just have to trust the master chef, which leads to the next dish, tuna tartare with raw quail egg atop crawfish salad, served with 2 house made chips, ootus and chicken skin. Yup, chicken skin...genious! The lotus chips were good, but the chicken skin chips were the ultimate vessel to take in the tartare, little egg, and crawfish salad. We also ordered a soexialty sushi roll and tonkatsu chicken kids plate. The only downside is the wait, even with reservations. With this drawback, we are still going back! read more

Very good sushi, albeit more expensive than what I would like to pay. Breaking with my normal sushi reviews, I got 2 rolls instead of nigiri (it was out of my price range). My 2 rolls were well put together, and the fish didn't look mangled. I got mine to go, but it looks like you are really paying for their interior. I came here today around 8:30 and right when I walk in with my family we got no greeting whatsoever and the staff didn't seem to acknowledge the fact that we were there waiting for about 10 min. We finally get seated and the waiter was very faint and we couldn't understand what he was saying. The workers seemed to have a "not want to be here" type of look, which is not very pleasing and made me and my family feel uncomfortable. THE SUSHI... it was so bad and overpriced for what you get. The rolls didn't have proper filling in it and barely had any fish. It was mostly rice, avocado, cucumber etc. but no fish!!! This place just opened and is close to our home so we thought we'd give it a try. Its a small restaurant. The ambiance isn't what you expect, kinda hip Ikea "like" decor. We started by ordering from the small plate portion of the menu with a Tempura Calamari and Mixed Tempura. The Calamari was sent out in one large clump and was too moist and difficult to share. The dipping sauce however; was very tasty. Vegetable and Shrimp Tempura was also less than exciting. We thought we would try various items for our first visit. Miso soup was luke warm and needed more miso paste and while their salad was larger than most, it lacked dressing. Sushi was average at best and I would rather drive the 30 minutes to Osaka for better service and food. Its obvious a lot of things to work out regarding waitstaff knowledge of the menu and just general customer service skills. Had to spend the night in Lathrop so stopped by for sashimi near the hotel. I wasn't expecting much since I had previously been directed to a different sushi place in Lathrop and was sorely disappointed. The Amici fish is very fresh. Unfortunately, they were out of my favorite hamachi (and Saba) so I can't do a full review. I have to say that I was impressed with their almost perfect seven spice tataki. The tataki would be perfect if sliced thinner. The hand roll spicy tuna was excellent as well. Didn't think I would find good sushi in Lathrop and I was wrong! The modern decor was to my liking as well and because the place was practically empty and I sat at the sushi bar, I chatted with the sushi chef who I found to be very pleasant and proud of his craft. read more

I'll probably come back here because my sushi options in town are scarce, but quite honestly, I've had better. I'm not super big on rolls, but if you are, you might like it here. They had two pages worth of specialty rolls ranging from $8 - $15 (mostly $15 lol). I tried the Lisa and Spider Lover. The Lisa was quite tasty and I would definitely recommend. Perfect size, covered in sauce, which i'm not usually a big fan of, but it was tasty!! Shrimp tempura, crab mix, eel/garlic &miso/lime sauce. Spider lover was a bit too much for me, it was rolled way to big for my taste, and had too much going on... Wasn't a fan. All I can remember about the roll was that it was big in size, spicy, and whatever. I wouldn't recommend the sashimi taco or whatever. Five pieces of tuna served on top of a bed of crushed tortilla chips. Ha, pass! I do recommend the sashimi tapas. It came with 15 pieces of sashimi prepared in its own unique sauce. It's different, and although I prefer good old fashioned fish, this dish did offer a little adventure for your palate. Big bowl of green tea ice cream capped the end of my dinner. Perfect for sharing and probably the only item on the menu where I felt I was getting the most bang for my buck (I actually thought the sashimi tapas was fairly priced as well). Service was lacking, and it kind of turned me off (especially since I was a first timer). I believe he was the owner, and he was nice enough... But he seemed way too flustered to be handling the floor on his own. There was a table of six, my table of four, and another two top, and he seemed like he couldn't handle it. He was spending way too much time with the six top that it took us a quick minute to be sat, greeted, and then a long while before we got our drinks and were able to order. Not a big deal cause I was studying the menu, but it started to get annoying because he didn't know how to multitask/evenly distribute his attention between the only three tables in the restaurant. Gahhh.... Another thing that bothered me was the heavy stench of Clorox. After he pre-bussed our table in preparation for our ice cream, he wiped it down and my sense of smell nearly shriveled up; it gave me a headache!! I just wanted to get out of there!!! I asked for the check and placed my card out right away, but he was busy wiping down tables and taking care of closing duties I guess. My whole party got up and left me cause of the smell and I had to wave him down so he could close me out. Blah. Anyways, I spent about $76 or so w/tip for two rolls, two small plates/appetizers and one dessert. I thought the prices were pretty up there, but I guess that's expected since there are not many sushi joints to choose from in the area. Blah. Overall, the place is small, white, and expensive. Owner should hire servers if he can't handle the floor (as small as it is); maybe i'd be able to add a bit more justification on pricing for good service. read more

It was me and my friend's first time here and we were in awe with the modern ambience of the restaurant. The waiters were really patient and really helpful. I love how that they asked if we wanted lemon or cucumber in our water. I asked for something that had avocado, crab, and shrimp and they recommended the rainbow row. So, I tried the rainbow roll. It was really fresh tasting. The appearance on the plate was too pretty to ruin. Love how there was a different fish on each piece of sushi. My friend got the teriyaki chicken. I have eaten here several times and I have always been impressed with their creativity of their small plates and their selection of fresh sashimi. I had the most delicious butterfish there the other week... my coworker came with me and said she never wanted a fish taste to linger in her mouth before, but she wanted the butterfish to. The decor is very fun and clean. The ONLY complaint I have is that they are slow to take the dirty dishes to the back and often herd the dirty dishes to an empty table before finally taking them back. I recommend just telling the waitress what you are interested in and letting them select something for you if you feel overwhelmed. Otherwise, jump right into the fish pops, the pizza and the fish taco thingys. The small plates are so creative and delicious. read more

I lived in Tracy for a year and a half and this was the only edible sushi I found in that time, thanks to a recommendation of a co-worker. Not only is it edible, it is absolutely fresh and delicious. I always sit at the sushi bar and I always order several of the specials. Butterfish, sake belly, hamachi, uni, amaebi, all have always been incredible. Presentation and service are impeccable. Extremely reasonably priced for the quality of the food! You are putting this in your body. . . quality over quantity, always! (Although the size of the nigiri pieces is quite generous and I cannot ever eat in 1 bite although I know I'm supposed to). They offer fresh wasabi (yum!) as a compliment to sushi dishes. Decor is modern and clean. Owners and staff care very much about the quality of food and patrons' experiences at their restaurant! My partner and I stopped for dinner here twice in one week while driving to the South Bay from Tahoe. Amici's eclectic and fascinating menu is what drew us in. Their superb execution, presentation, ambiance is what brought us back for a second time. The rolls and dishes are noticeably made with fresh ingredients (real crab!) and nicely plated. Tastes are delicious and titillating. There is room for improvement in service - server is, at times, overwhelmed with customers and timing of dishes may leave some in the party with their meal and others without. First time here. Came around dinner rush on a Friday night & we were able to be sat within 10 minutes. They did seat us in the back by the entrance to their bar lounge area. We didn't mind it because we had our toddler with us & he loves to talk. Service was good. Took awhile to get our menus. Also took awhile to get our bill. The food was delicious! I wanted to try a more bigger roll with lots of sashimi in it but I settled for a chicken teriyaki bowl so I can feed my son. That's also because they don't have kid meals. I was able to share a California roll with the Hubs. So good! Best California roll that I've ever had! It was made with real crab! You can taste the freshness. My husband ordered a seafood udon & said it was the best he's ever had also! It didn't look like a lot, but he got full before he finished. He said he'll come back just for that. Tried this place out for lunch today. Parking was horrendous. Took me about 10 minutes to finally get a spot. I ordered 3 kinds of nigiri sushi: salmon, tuna and smoked salmon. Tuna was AMAZING. I would not get the smoked salmon again as it was very salty. Fresh salmon was good. A but pricy for 3 orders of nigiri, it came to $20 without tip for those three orders. read more
