Baby shower held June 4th - Our event was held in the upstairs party room, very pretty setting, great food and good service. Two negatives: 1. A tip jar was displayed where we set our BYOB refreshments. Being a BYOB location did not require bartenders and the tab for the event already included a 20 percent tip for the staff. 2. The restaurant required a minimum for the room of $2000. The upstairs room seats a maximum of 40 guests and the buffet meal was $40 per person - totaling $1600. We could not receive $2000 worth of services for our event but we were charged $2000 and a room rental fee of $200. read more

Had been hearing great things about this place and knew it was time to check it out. Arrived for our 6 pm reservation a few minutes early and they were able to seat us right away, contrary to some other reviews I have seen about Amici's. We only made the reservation one day before so we were pleasantly surprised that we got in seamlessly. Loved hanging a table by the window! Service was nice and swift. We enjoyed the Caesar salad and the regular house salad. The balsamic dressing for the house salad was homemade and everything was very fresh. The fresh bread and oil was a great complement and also homemade. Our entrees were cooked to perfection. The shrimp scampi was delicious and tender. The chicken parm had a fantastic sweet sauce. The grouper piccata was amazingly tender and the taste was so fresh! Finally, the bragiole was wrapped in meaty deliciousness and we were all very happy with our entrees. Amici is one of my favorite casual Italian restaurants in Buffalo! I have been there for several dinners and I always leave full and happy! It's the perfect restaurant to go to for wine and a traditional Italian meal. The atmosphere is very warm and relaxing. The food is homemade and the servers are always upbeat and friendly. My favorite dishes are: -Fettuccine Alfredo (The noodles are homemade, light and delicious) -Grouper Piccata (Fresh fish, perfectly flavored sauce) -Chicken Marherita (Layers of chicken, ham, eggplant, mozzerella, in a white wine sauce) -Stuffed Banana Pepper Risotto -Homemade Cannoli (They are insanely good!) I had a really wonderful dining experience here last weekend. As enjoyable as the food was, the service was even more outstanding. I had been here once before but waited to write a review because the place was packed on my first visit and that's never really my preference. So I enter by myself and ask if they have any place for just one (I didn't see any 2-tops open). Now, most of the time this spooks the host--they'll get this panicky look like, "What am I supposed to do with this loser?" But not this young lady, she smiled sweetly, said "of course," and then proceeded to ask me if I preferred the patio or indoors. The patio? Not only was it no biggie that I was dining alone but she was willing to give me a good seat on the patio! I couldn't. I took a table in the corner. I started with the pasta e fagioli which was possibly the best I've ever had. Pro tip: when you dine alone, the entire complimentary bread plate is ALL for you. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Francaise with a glass of wine. I was too full for dessert but took some cannoli home because the cannoli here is a MUST. Everything was delightful and a variety of servers stopped by the table throughout the meal to see how everything was, offer refills, and even to offer more bread! (I could have had 2 bread plates all to myself.) Needless to say, I felt very well taken care of. On my first visit, I had the eggplant parmigiana which was fantastic. The sauce was a little thicker than I prefer and I also like to go heavier with the seasoning at home, but these are just personal preferences. The eggplant itself was delicious and cooked perfectly. Often with eggplant parm, you get the breading falling off the eggplant. Not here; executed wonderfully. I was first introduced to their cannoli on this visit as well. This is by far one of my favorite authentic Italian restaurants in WNY! Everything I have ever tried has been nothing less than amazing!! My family visits at least once a week for our favorite which is the Arancini appetizer, I like to order the sauce on the side so the arancini doesn't get soggy. The stuffed eggplant is extremely delicious, it's always stuffed to the brim with capers, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, onions, mushrooms & spinach, then topped with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella, I order it with penne pasta...yum! The Chicken Marsala is another favorite and always amazing! The chicken is always cooked just right, with a wine and mushroom sauce served over risotto. I'm not sure why Yelp has this location listed as "temporarily closed" because not only were were able to get dinners for take-out.... but there were also plenty of diners out on the patio. We started with a caprese salad to share... and as I was eating it I was wishing we had gotten one for each of us. Not that it was small, but because it was so delicious that I was reluctant to share. Tasty tomato chunks and freshly pulled mozzarella cheese were lightly dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and lots of slivers of basil. So good! For entrees my fiancé had the grouper with angel hair pasta and roasted vegetables.... and I had Chicken Milanese (that was served with wonderful pasta instead of the usual arugula). I have been there several times, and enjoy supporting local restaurants during this difficult time. Their prices are very affordable, and ordered delivery from Grubhub. It's always hard to narrow down what to order, and I wanted to order a feast. I ordered the chicken francese and chicken saltimboca (veal is also available). Both are served with risotto, and has so much flavor. Risotto is very time consuming to cook at home, and was so delicious. They have the traditional red sauce dishes, as well as, 2 of my favorites that I ordered to shake up my weekend. The banana peppers had just the right amount of spice. Was a great dinner ! read more

Went to Amici last night with another couple at their request. Very busy at 7pm, but still an enjoyable atmosphere. Ordered a Manhattan neat, well prepared. Appetizer of stuffed banana peppers and eggplant francaise were both tasty; the peppers were not overly spicy. Caesar salad was very good, and I took advantage of the offered anchovies. I had the Seafood Fra Diavolo; also not very spicy, but a large portion. Many scallops, but they were fairly small; good serving of mussels and shrimp, and the broth was terrific (cooking more pasta at home today for the leftovers). The pasta was a bit over cooked IMHO; as an Italian I prefer it al dente ... Aimée had the fettuccini carbonara - this was outstanding, great subtle flavor, pasta cooked perfectly, and guanciale instead of bacon. Highly recommend this! Amici is one of our go-to restaurants for really good Italian food. The service is always great, it's a warm, cozy atmosphere. The bread and dipping oil is (chef's kiss ), and one of our favorite dishes is the pasta with Bolognese sauce. SO GOOD. The vodka sauce is amazing, as is the fried calamari appetizer. Their meatballs are great, too, and we are meatball snobs because my MIL makes the best ones I've ever had. They have a nice wine list, good coffee, and the cannolis are delicious. What a disappointment in the service! The food was pretty good, but since the service was SO BAD, we will not be going back. We had to ask several times for refills on our drinks, and even then she "forgot". Never asked if we like our meals or needed anything. When out food came, she actually tried to push the other dishes on the side to try and make room. We tried to grab the bus boys and ask for things but even they could not get it right. Would look at us and say "oh yeah" and then disappear. I literally had to chase the waitress through the place to get the check and again to pay! Awful experience. Their prices are up literally $10-$15+ on entrees from THREE years ago. I know the pandemic hit but come on!! How long are you gonna pillage people?? Two people with waters (no drink drinks) and the saddest portioned app that you could possibly imagine. $100+ after tip. Just insane. And our service was lack luster at that. Took forever for our server to acknowledge us and make it to our table. Took even longer for our drinks to came out. And the same could be said for the food wait time. Wow! Soup de jour - Hot pepper soup is creamy and flavorful. It was very good, although I like a lot of heat and it was anything but... still tasted excellent! The roasted garlic bruschetta platter was unique and we will surely get it again. Our group all enjoyed everything. My husband's Chicken Florentine was very creamy with lots of garlic, spinach and cheese. Large serving of wonderful-ness. Milanese is my go to and it did not disappoint! Juicy chicken some greens and fresh lemon and a generous portion of spaghetti cacio Pepe that caused me to over-eat. I could not stop myself!!! Wow! The chicken Al'Amici looked and smelled fabulous and the lasagna was a mountain of delight. My daughter & I went for dinner on a Wednesday, first we notice how busy for a Wednesday it was. Opting for a cocktail at the bar first was a very welcoming experience that set the tone for a beautiful nite. Ordering a Manhattan & a glass of Pinot Grigio were our choices. The bartender was friendly & knowledgeable about both the drinks as well as explaining the dinner specials for the nite. The Manhattan was perfect & the wine was a nice pour. Asking for a menu for a preview before sitting was a great idea as we decide to enjoy our meal at the bar. Ordering Linguine & Clam sauce, Penne (Gluten Free) with Vodka sauce and meatballs, two Caesar Salads one with anchovies was the meal we had chosen. The Salads & meals came out perfectly timed. My choice of a glass of Louis Martini Cabernet was perfect for the dinner. I can't express enough how friendly the bartender was, it was actually very pleasant to have him serve us & keep the evening enjoyable. We ordered the gluten free chocolate cake for desert to which was big enough to share. Everything was perfect from the cocktails right through to the end! The pricing for both bar drinks & meal choices including the quantity food were priced accordingly. The only two recommendations we have is; the bar area could use a little attention as to wear & tear. And just a couple pieces of wilted lettuce in our salads. Had reservations for our 13 yr anniversary- the young woman who seated us on Sept. 9th 6pm. proceeded to seat us at a very small table next to a wall where people walk by, my bf is 6'1 and we just wanted something more comfortable and slightly bigger... I asked politely to be moved to something a little bigger .. she rolled her eyes and moved us but quite annoyed, then proceeded to ask my boyfriend how tall are you ? how tall are you ? how tall are you ? at least 3 to 4 times in a very snarky , disrespectful, condescending way , surprised she didn't ask his weight as well, she continued to say how tall she was and that everyone looks her height 5'6- it made NO sense what so ever and was very rude and disrespectful to us-could you image someone asking this snarky person how tall she is at a restaurant ?? because she wanted a different table- oh the hypocrisy ! just because we wanted a little larger table which many were available. Then proceeded to talk about us to the other staff members how UNPROFESSIONAL I never left a restaurant in my life .. This is NOT how you talk to people in your restaurant who are good customers. I was looking for an Italian restaurant that served eggplant parm, was open on a Monday, and wasn't overly fancy, and Amici met all three checkboxes, so my husband and I gave it a try. The restaurant was fairly quiet on the Monday evening we went, so walking in without a reservation was not an issue. Other reviews suggested that our food would take a while to arrive, but it was ready in a timely manner, so wait times for food probably aren't an issue when the restaurant isn't so busy. We were content with salads and the complimentary bread before our entrees arrived. The eggplant parm is good if you're looking for a traditional version. It's not mushy, or too firm, but just right in consistency. I would have preferred more seasoning in the sauce, but if you like straight up tomato, you'll be happy. Of the eggplant parm dishes I've tried so far in Buffalo, my favorite so far would be Tappo's, but traditionalists would probably prefer Amici's. Portion sizes are good, and we were too full to try dessert. For a low-key Monday date night, we were satisfied. read more

I have had their food before both as catering and dining in years ago. I decided to give take out a try (via Uber Eats). The delivery time was 15 minutes longer than I was originally quoted. I ordered French Onion soup, and the broth was rich and flavorful, but it was missing a "zing" that only an addition of sherry can bring. (8/10) I also ordered Lasagna which was a very large portion, and a very heavy top layer of cheese. (8/10) The lasagna was well cooked and good tasting, but I could not eat it all. I ordered two meatballs as well because they are my favorite menu item.; I was not disappointed. (10/10) My roommate ordered the Bolognese with Rigatoni which was not saucy enough for his taste, (7/10) so I added the extra sauce from the meatballs to his meal. I have been coming here with my family, friends and date nights for years and have yet to be disappointed. Tonight I had the special scallops with spaghetti squash risotto which was to die for. Their caesar salad is hands down the best in town as well as their french onion soup. The soup has a deep beef flavor and is super delicious. My first visit here happened because I didn't feel like cooking so I texted a friend and suggested we go out to dinner. I knew I wanted Italian so I asked her what her favorite Italian restaurant is in the area. She said, "Amici's." I had never been so I said, "Let's go!" and that's how we ended up at Amici's at 6:30 on a random Tuesday evening. The restaurant was about half full and we were seated right away. The staff was very friendly and attentive. On this evening we skipped cocktails and appetizers and went straight to the entrees. I had a combo plate -- manicotti, and chicken and eggplant parmesan. I requested that they leave out the eggplant parm but the cook substituted it with more manicotti. That put a smile on my face, and it turned out to be delicious! Since then I've been back a few times. The staff has always been friendly and the food good. Now that I've moved closer, I might visit more often! read more

The 3 Stars represents the overall value of the food. I ordered takeout so my rating is based solely on the price, presentation, quality and taste of the food. For starters I had the arancini balls: Fire crazy good, and full of flavor and honestly the best thing of the night. 8.9/10 I ordered the Alfredo and added chicken for an up charge. Very disappointed in the Alfredo. It's such a basic and simple dish and for $23 it was definitely not worth the price. The pasta was dry and if I'm being honest the chicken was not worth the extra $6 but definitely needed to make the dish have substance. Definitely a hard pass for future visits. 2.5/10 Lasagna surprisingly good. I heard about their giant sized lasagna and it's true. The flavor was good. It's hard to find a good lasagna at a restaurant, so I'm happy to have discovered this one. Went there on a Sunday evening, early. Pet peeve of mine is when the host of a restaurant sits you down at a table that is RIGHT in the front of the restaurant's main traffic area! Especially when there were quite a few tables that were more out of the way. When seating customers please THINK to yourself would I want to sit here myself???? I ordered lasagna and the wife was able to order the eggplant rollotini even though it was no longer listed on menu. The wine was delicious and there was ample bread to enjoy while we had with salads and capese appetizer. The main entrees were disappointing though as this is a place known for their sauce but it was little or no where to be found on these entrees. The meals in the past always had sauce to enjoy on top of the lasagna and eggplant. Disappointed is how we felt while leaving and maybe try another Italian restaurant that isn't so stingy with the gravy. read more
