I normally don't leave negative reviews, but I believe it's important to share my experience so other business owners can make informed decisions. When I first spoke with the owner at Amherst Copy about designing menus for my restaurant, I was told the work would take about 6 hours and be completed within one week, starting around 12/31/2025. Unfortunately, the project was delayed for nearly two months and was not completed until 2/26/2026. During that time, I had to visit the shop many times to review and correct mistakes in the design. Several times they printed sample versions of the menu, and we carefully checked them and marked all the corrections that needed to be fixed. We returned those samples with detailed notes. However, many of the important corrections were not applied, which forced us to repeat the same process multiple times. What was most frustrating was that the time spent correcting these repeated mistakes appeared to be charged to us as hourly design work. In the end, we were billed $1,486, which was extremely surprising considering the delays and the number of errors we had to correct ourselves. Because of these issues, our restaurant opening was delayed while customers kept asking when we would open. We also spent over $500 printing take-out menus and banners, which we ultimately had to throw away because the design could not be used. We eventually had to hire another designer and start the entire menu project again from the beginning. Instead of resolving the situation, the company filed a court case against us, which added even more stress for a small business owner. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service. I hired this printing company to print my restaurant menus. We provided all the necessary files and specifications, but the printed menus we received were incorrect. This caused significant delays in opening my restaurant by about two months. Additionally, we had already paid for the printed menus, which now must be discarded, resulting in over $500 in losses. We are currently redoing the menus with a new designer, and the company still has the original printed menus. We like to give several chances to local businesses, but the numerous difficulties and inconsistencies have outweighed the bright spots (like the very nice employees). More often than not, jobs were incorrectly or poorly done, and there can be an incredible delay (1-2 weeks) in their response time to emails. Wish it were different, we gave it a couple of years, but we had to look elsewhere. read more

Very reliable printing work that is always on time and high-quality. The prices are pretty reasonable and often even run cheaper than what you'd find at an office supply chain. I haven't tried their design services but they look pretty professional and are even used by some of the local universities. If you live in Amherst area, are tired of pulling your hair out at the old printing machines at Staples, and want to support a local business, definitely give it a go. A few wonky parts of their website, especially at checkout (I don't get why I need to enter the code from a verification text to access my "stored" payment information if I still need to manually input all of that same information on the next page - seems pretty superfluous), but that's a pretty minor gripe and definitely not one worth removing stars over. read more

I lost time trying to work with Amherst Copy. I did a job that went well so I tried to do another using their website. I paid and then was told that the software was faulty and that they would not honor their own software price. Before this I had asked for a proof of a label and was told it would be ready the next day. I drove in from the next town over only to be told by the person in charge of stickers that they weren't able to have the proof ready to , "come back tomorrow." I explained that I live 15 minutes away and didn't even get an apology. They were quick to refund my money instead of honoring their listed price or attempting to adjust or compromise. I would love to work local and buy local but they seemed overwhelmed with the workload. I would not recommend you using Amherst Copy it was a waste of time. read more

As someone with a design background, I can be very specific in what I'm looking for, and I've always been happy with their work. I tried to support a local business. I ended up at Staples. After putting in a small order (5 prints) I heard nothing back for a week. So I called to check in. I was told no one there could help me, but Forrest from the sign shop would call me back. He never did. A week later I called again. Forrest was in and assured me that my prints would be ready Thursday (two days later). I went the following Tuesday to pick them up (three weeks after putting in the original order). I was told that Forrest was on his way back from the sign shop with my prints, though no one could contact him to confirm this. After 15 minutes of waiting, Forrest arrived. Did he have my prints? "Nah man. I'll print 'em tomorrow." It took Staples 24 hours to do what Amherst Copy and Designworks couldn't do in three weeks. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place for any professional printing. I've used this print shop over the years, and every time I go there I seem to leave slightly unsatisfied. I JUST left Amherst Copy with such a project. I ordered 200 show cards (4x6 post cards) and wanted a 1/4 inch white edge around all four sides of the front. Long story short after attempts by the individual cutting the cards I was left with less than an 1/8 of an inch (and inconsistent) on around 100 of the 200 cards. I went back to the shop to give the feedback on the cards and see what the shop had to say. The respective employee attempted to cut approximately 10 of the most severely cut cards closer to the edge to make the white border more proportionate. Though the print shop employee did apologize sincerely for his mis-cutting I'm surprised he couldn't/didn't do more to remedy the problem. I'm not sure these folks know how to adapt properly to satisfy the customer. The 2-5 people working in the shop, including the owner, are all more than pleasant and willing to answer questions or try to help, but perhaps are lacking in follow through, despite knowing there is an issue with the print job. I've also heard experiences of other customers going into this shop for what would normally be a simple task (i.e. printing small proofs) and either having to wait an exorbitant amount of time, or having to come back another day, and the shop lacking Apple software/hardware knowledge. I have had work done for the office as well as personal projects and they are always friendly, professional, have great suggestions and I've been very happy with everything they've done. I love that some of the staff remains from the previous owner which I think says a lot about new owner Sean that they stayed. My favorite is Scott, who is totally knowledgable about everything and anything that can be done in that shop. Yesterday was my first experience at Amherst CopyCat and I could not be happier! I had some last minute 5x7 color invitations I needed to get printed ASAP. I used their online order system to submit my PDF (it was user friendly) and followed up with a phone call to the shop. The various staff I talked to on the phone throughout the day were very friendly and let me know I could come down to the shop right away to check out the proof. I popped in and they had it ready to go and it looked great! I told them to go ahead and process the entire batch. The order was completed SO quickly. I couldn't believe when they called me to let me know it was ready. I was so frantic to get the invitations done that I didn't even care what it would cost. When I picked them up I couldn't believe the price...it was SO reasonable and MUCH lower than I was anticipating. They even had special envelopes that fit the invitations perfectly that I couldn't find in a store. I highly encourage anyone in the area to use Amherst CopyCat. They are local, personable, prompt and the end product looked great. Not to mention, there was a beautiful & friendly golden retriever in the shop when I checked out the proof- an added bonus! Friendly and professional staff. quality work, worth going to for your printing needs

We had our wedding invitations printed at Copycat, and although the co-owner (who helped us) was very pleasant and the prices seemed reasonable, they don't appear to have the expertise to deal with jobs more complex than a simple copy. We supplied files with crop marks (my husband is a designer), and Copycat had to do the job 3 times for us because they kept cutting them crookedly and to the wrong dimensions, printing them the wrong color, or on the wrong paper. By round 3, we settled for what we got (which weren't the dimensions we specified, but at least fit our envelopes and weren't that noticeably crooked), because we were told that this was the best they could do and that most people don't care if its off by a couple inches. In the interest of full-disclosure, they also broke our flash drive though they were very apologetic and reimbursed us the full price of the drive. Copycat has very up-to-date machinery, but it would seem that no one there really knows how to use it with precision. Thankfully, we had a much better experience at another local print shop in Northampton. read more
