Clean, quiet room--perhaps one of the best nights sleep I've had in weeks. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The buffet dinner was not very good, but I didn't expect it to be anyways. Still, all the staff at the restaurant were awesome. Complimentary wi-fi was strong in our room but spotty in the casino. This said, we will definitely stay here again. read more

Stayed here with my husband last weekend. We have been coming here and stating every few months for almost 3 years now. We have always received incredible service and pricing with our players club card. This time they would only discount the room $40... we paid $330 before taxes and fees!! Check in is at 4 but we didn't have a room ready until 5. No one offered to hold our luggage so we could enjoy ourselves. Room was dirty dirty dirty!! We normally stay in the spa suite but this time since we were paying a huge price stayed in a regular King room. We ordered room service, wings and a medium rare steak. The wings tasted frozen instead of fresh and the steak was blue rare and made me sick. Spent 75 on dinner and it tasted horrible and I got food poisoning. At 2 am when I was up sick I decided to take a hot shower.... unfortunately there wasn't enough hot water.. it was lukewarm at best. The only saving grace for the place we used to love it that the ARA spa is still incredible and relaxing... although I may never stay there again I will continue to book my massages there. read more

Ameristar Black Hawk - Dust on the door - Casinos Near Me - Black Hawk, Colorado

Absolutely gorgeous casino and the best part is its NON SMOKING! We frequent casinos often and we loved the Ameristar. Definitely worth the drive from Texas. All games were available and it was like Vegas without the smoke. Will definitely be back. read more

I will start by saying I understand I was completely in the wrong, I made the mistake of cashing out a slot I didn't put money in and the gaming enforcement investigator was more then reasonable wit me and I appreciate that. Bat that casino floor manager was rude treated me like I did something to him when I was only trying to get his name so I new who to write the Yelp about an kicked me out of the casino now I can't say this is coming from him being racist but due to the prior experiences I've had in Blackhawk I can say he was extremely prejudice toward me! From the moment you walk into Ameristar casino resort you notice how amazing the staff are from the guy/lady that checks your Id to the front desk. I went to their buffet my wife was thirsty so she asked the gentlemen behind the counter for water, I told her our server would bring us drinks. Then the guy behind the counter came with 2 bottles of water. Our server arrive her name is mariola I believe. She was so pleasant and accommodating. Let me not forget Retsan, what a nice young man, we had come when the buffet was almost over 2:45 pm, so we decided to come back for dinner. Our waiter said we can come back and just pay the dinner difference after being approved by the manager. Later when we came back Ratsan was expecting us and was notified in advance. The patty the manager came to my table to check if every thing was alright. We stayed in their luxury room with jacuzzi. The room was beautifully furnished; a fire place and beautiful views of black hawk. I had an amazing time. The real stars of ameristar are its staff, specially Mariola. Thank you for an amazing experience. I highly recommend this Ameristar. read more

I am currently in Colorado celebrating my grandmother's birthday & staying at Ameristar. At the entrance to the Ameristar casino they check temperatures & IDs. The tall, bald man with an accent who was working told me, my mom & grandma "I only need 1 ID per party" & checked my mom's ID. I was the last of the 3 of us, but he stopped me and said "ID?". I said I was with the 2 other women he just let through & he hadn't checked my grandmas ID. He said "Grandma is special. ID". I hand over my ID, he puts it in this machine & looks at his machine that shows a large picture of my ID. He notes my address, "I thought you'd be from Lake County" (where Ameristar is at), then he grabs my wrist to put a stamp on it, doesn't let me go as I am starting to walk away, but gives my wrist a squeeze and says "you're so beautiful, so sexy", then let's me go. I felt so uncomfortable. I spoke to a server standing in front of a restaurant about it & she said she'd mention it to her supervisor. I don't come on vacation to feel attacked by a creeper. read more

I had a bad experience with a craps dealer, he was very rude, not once but three times, I just left and wont be back

Stayed in the top floor suite and had an amazing time! The suite itself was beautiful, clean, spacious, and had great views. The casino floor is lively at any hour of the night - we gambled till 5am! I cannot comment on the spa or pool areas. I didn't get the chance to use them. The staff was extremely accommodating to our every request and the two restaurants I ate in served delicious food for a decent price. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! read more

So I wanted to bring my hubby up for his birthday for all you can eat crab....So if you come to Blackhawk to Ameristar to eat the all you can eat crab legs don't bother. They took the all you can eat and you have to pay extra on top of what you pay for the buffet. If you don't finish your bucket they don't let you take it home. The food is not as good quality as it used to be and It was not worth the amount I paid. The service is still great. read more

You can have the pool and the hot tub. I can go to recreation center for that. I was so disappointed in our entire stay. The room was less than clean, filthy windows on the inside and when we went to bed we noticed some stains on the bed, we were disgusted and had no choice then to sleep on top of the sheets with no covers, very restless night. When we were in the casino the staff seemed inconvinenced and very unhappy, Thank goodness we didn't spend alot at this casino, everyone that we spoke with said "they couldn't win for losing". We got very little play back with our investment, although, someone has to pay for the pool and spa and the unhappy employees. Never,,,ever again well we be customers at this casino. The casino was fun but our room wasn't clean. There was hair on the bathroom seat, blood on the sheets, a random pink pill on the floor, dust everywhere and an ashtray full of used matches. There were ashes on the floor by the elevator for the entire 4 nights we stayed. They didn't clean that area for 4 nights!! The bathroom light was also out. When I told customer service, they offered us a free breakfast. I didn't accept because we needed to get on the road for a 12 hour drive. Will not stay here again. They should have offered a discount. Don't recommend. Also, no one from Ameristar has reached out to apologize. Surprised we didn't have bed bugs. Kind of wondering now since there was blood on the sheet... read more

I was very impressed with the hotel upon arrival. The Deluxe King Suite is very beautiful. It is a smoking room that they do an incredible job at keeping free from that "smoking room" stench. I'm a smoker that doesn't like smoke indoors, but wanted the option available since I don't have my children with me. We extended our stay a night right away because the room was so nice. Here at the end of my stay I'm still impressed with the room but not so much with the service provided. Room service this morning was a joke. Pancakes wouldn't melt butter, sausage was halfway to jerky, and my apple juice came as orange juice. For the price, 18% gratuity added, 2$ delivery charge, and $5 cash tip, it should've been right. It's pancakes and sausage. Yesterday morning when We dined in at the restaurant it was perfect and delicious. Fireside Restaurant service was good except waiter, Jay, became annoyed with me because he felt I ordered too much food. He said "I don't think you realize how much food you ordered." He didn't realize I wanted the country fried steak for later. After we told him the order was fine, he started to be short with us, his demeanor totally changed. I don't know why he tried so hard to down sell. Later in the day I ordered a turtle ice cream and was given a chocolate shake. At the WayPost we also received our order wrong. The casino was okay. I did win 200.00, as I went to a bonus on the first spin of the slot. I would've played more but kept being interrupted by security asking for ID. It was overboard. One even said he had to go run it to make sure. It's not enjoyable to play while continuously being carded and making sure the person who took your ID comes back. I don't trust you anymore than you trust me. I was carded 4 times in an hour and a half, I'm 34. I just went back to the room. Took it as a sign to keep my winnings. Thanks Ameristar. The Latino security woman outside the gift shop actually challenged me about my DL like she thought it was fake. Quizzed me about my city and address. Acted like she knew all about Minnesota, then said "but you'd have to get used to snow and cold in CO. Ummm. Okay. About an hour later as we walked past this woman, another blonde security guard came up and stated "look, there's four of them over there." She was pointing at four young men minding their own business. They then both approached the young men like police officers and stated "ID's right now guys. What are you doing? Where are you from?" Treating people like criminals is not good for business. I ordered a drink while playing and the girl never came back. I expect basic courteous service no matter what if you want my money, but especially when paying 600 for a couple days stay. It was a nice room but I wouldn't recommend or come back. All interactions with staff were awkward or rude. read more

we stayed here for 4 nights this was supposed to be really special and romantic... we reserved a suite about 3 weeks in advance and upon arrival, the man at the front desk was AMAZING...he was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We got to our suite and looked around it was pretty, but dirty...the jacuzzi tub had a bunch of dirty brown bubbles in it, it literally looked like someone had just taken a bubble bath. the tables were all dirty, oily fingerprints and crumbs they hadn't even been cleaned. it also reeked of something bad I don't know what but it stunk, also our fireplace was broken, we specifically reserved a room with a fireplace........I could not believe that this was happening on our "vacation" so I complained. the manager just couldn't believe what I was telling her and she acted surprised, gave us a free night and free food, ok that is fine but doesn't fix the problem, we paid nearly $1200 for this reservation and you mean to tell me that this is what we should expect from Ameristar? I am not impressed at all...we will absolutely NEVER stay here again, overpriced, food was disgusting and the management sucks. best part of this experience was the man who checked us in and I feel awful that I cannot remember his name, he should be a manager, I bet this hotel would be much better with him in charge. you want mediocre, you'll get mediocre here. read more

My Husband and I decided to visit Ameristar this Saturday night, very excited to be out on a Saturday because we normally are working . When we entered the casino from the parking garage, we started for the escalator my husband ask the not so nice (Greg) when the bar which is under construction will be open? The reaction that we got was so rude he shrub his shoulders and replied ( I don't know they don't tell us anything) it was so negative that we turned around and left. The really sad thing is my husband and I are one the hospitality business. Just to think you have know clue what is welcoming your gusts through the front entrance is terrible. All in all you need a undercover boss to see how your gusts are be welcomed and maybe to appreciate the people that keep you open!! Shame Shame on you Ameristar Hotel and Casino !!!so sad Thank you for your concerns and your apologies for your staff. WOW. Where should I begin about my absolutely awful experience with this hotel? Let's start when we went to check in. "I'm sorry sir, oddly enough your room isn't ready yet. If you bear with me about 15 minutes, it should be ready and we'll get you checked in." This would normally be fine with me, but check in was after 4pm, and we arrived there around 7:30pm. We arrived as soon as we could after work. We told them it was fine, and we went and walked around the casino while we waited. The time quoted had passed so we ventured back inside and sat on the couches in the lobby. We ended up waiting up to 45 minutes until I had lost my cool a little bit and went to the front desk to ask what was going on. I explained the situation to a different service associate and she went in the back and grabbed her manager. He came out and immediately told me that reserving a room doesn't guarantee the room. (Uhm, what?) long story short, they end up upgrading us for both nights of our stay to one of their suites (after I fully make my frustration apparent, and demand they upgrade our room for both nights, because they didn't want to do that at all.) we get up to our room, and it is the most gorgeous room I've ever stayed in. I was very happy with the room. Unfortunately, we went to use the jacuzzi that was in the room and after a minute of it running, we couldn't get it to turn off. We called for a technician, and when he arrived and looked at it for a few minutes, he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn off, but instructed us not to use it until we could get a more experienced technician up tomorrow morning. Then he got a "more important" call and left. And he also didn't put in a report with the front desk about getting it fixed the next morning, because when I stopped by the front desk the next morning there was nothing in the computer about anything being wrong with our room. I kept my cool, and just asked if someone could make it up there this afternoon so we could use it by the evening time. He assured me that someone would be up there within the next hour. We ended up driving up to Idaho springs and spending the afternoon there, giving the technicians enough time to get in there and do what they needed to do without our interruption. We got back a few hours later and went up to our room. We couldn't tell if any work had been done on the jacuzzi, and were afraid to turn it on because we were instructed not to. So we called the front desk to ask if someone had come up and worked on it. They told us no, that the only person who was able to work on it had already left for the day. They sent somebody else up that reset the breaker and told us if it acted up again, to call them back. Whatever. So we used the tub, and it was okay. It worked for us, so it wasn't a big deal. Later that evening, we called down to the front desk to confirm that the "complimentary robes" were actually complimentary and we were able to take them home when we checked out. (Because we were told by the MANAGER when he upgraded us that were able to take them home with us.) The person at the front desk told us that they were complimentary and that we wouldn't be charged if we were to take them home. The robes were nothing special, one had torn belt loops, and the other had a stain on it, but it was kind of a little memory for us, and our first trip together. Belt loops can be sewn, and stains can be washed. The next morning my boyfriend went to check us out as I carried our bag to the car and smoked a cigarette. He came out telling me that they were going to charge us $75 PER ROBE! He explained to them what we were told by two different people, and she still stood next to the $75/robe. There was NO WAY IN HELL THAT I WAS PAYING $75 FOR THEIR CRUMMY ROBES. I marched right in there, robes in hand, and spoke with the associate he spoke with, and she told me the same thing. I explained to her again that two different people said otherwise and she still stuck to her story. I told her that it was nothing but problems and a poor experience with the hotel service and all she said to me was sorry. I threw the robes on the desk and made it clear that I would never return to their hotel and give them my business. The associate at the desk next to her looked at me and said, "WOW!" as I was walking away. I turned around and looked at her and she turned around before I got the chance to say, "That's right sweetheart. You couldn't pay me to stay in this s***hole again." But seriously. No amount of money could be paid to me to deal with their POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

The Ameristar Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado was originally built and opened as a Hyatt Casino. We visited the Hyatt once and were not impressed, so on our recent visit to the Ameristar we were expecting major improvements. Sad to say, not much has changed. Parking is ample - but poorly marked EXIT signs that leave many first-time visitors circling. The main casino is cavernous and offers a huge variety of penny slots, but getting a cocktail is next to impossible unless you want to leave your machine and travel to the bar yourself. We were playing nearly three hours and never saw a cocktail waitress. We had lunch at the Deli and it was quite good. The sandwiches are HUGE and can easily be shared between two. Our experience later in the evening at the Timberline Grill was less fulfilling. While the food was good, the attitude of staff was unwelcoming. We were there on a Sunday evening and decided to have dinner around 830pm. When we approached the hostess at the Timberline, the first thing she said to us was they were closing in a few more minutes. I asked if we could still be served and she replied "yes, if you are seated by 9". We got the distinct impression that our "late" arrival was not welcomed by a staff that was ready to close. Thankfully our waiter was pleasant - and once we were seated things went better. Overall, I find the Ameristar to be at the lower end of the casino chain in Blackhawk. It is a cavernous place and quite dark by casino standards. The soft-drink stations scattered about are convenient - but for those of us wanting something a bit stronger, good luck. The cocktail service is dismal. Other nearby casinos generate a different energy - better music, better lighting, lively staff etc. The Ameristar is a bit like a retirement home ... comfortable and quiet and safe and BORING. read more

I booked a room on hotels.com to celebrate my husbands birthday. Upon arrival, Karli at the reservations counter, was just a joy! She was so nice and friendly. We had asked her if she could possibly find us room that had a king size bed rather than the two queens we had booked online. She spent a little time searching her computer all the while making great conversation with us. She made my hubby feel extra special because it was his birthday. Afters few minutes, she told us that we seem like nice people and since we were celebrating she was going to give us an upgrade. We were so thankful! But little to our surprise, when we got to the room on the 31st floor, she put us in the deluxe suite!!! It was amazing!!!! The room was so nice and very clean. We couldn't believe it! What a treat for us! We have always stayed at the Reserve (formerly Fortune Valley) when we come up, but never again! AmeriStar is where it's at! Delicious food, lots of tables and slots, awesome roof top pool and hot tub....but it all goes back to our first impression; and that was Karli! She really made our celebration special! She made US feel special! Thank You Karli!!! read more

My company Christmas party was held here this year. After dinner, my bosses' took us to the bar area for a speech. During this time, the employees closed the dining doors and when they were opened, my wife's wallet was missing. Security and management were called but management tries to push it off until cops were called. The wallet was found in the laundry room with things missing. Management still would not admit it was them and confined me to my room when I started telling other guests what happened saying I was drunk. I was not and security confirmed this for me. Casino and rooms were nice. Would've been an awesome experience if not for the management and the thief. If you go, don't leave your things alone for a second. Even in your room. read more

Once upon a time Ameristar actively marketed their mountain hotel rooms to locals at a discounted price; like $29 for a Tuesday night. They are nice rooms. They also used to give free buffet meals as an incentive to frequent their establishment. No more. Recreational cannabis has surged the Colorado market and it is impossible to even get a last minute hotel. They are always booked. As a local I hate going on the weekend as they jack their roulette table prices to a $15 minimum. No more free buffets either. I had a ton of credits on my Ameristar card, worth real money and then one day they all disappeared. I believe it has to do with the mergers and acquisitions that are going on in the casino industry. Black Hawk has many casinos and Central City up the hill has even more. If you are going to throw your money at a business, you should do it where there are some perks. Would it really be SO difficult to share the wifi in the casino or restaurant and not just the hotel rooms? However, I will give them a thumbs up for military perks. read more

Bed bugs jaded our review of this hotel!!! The pain and discomfort of the bits is of great concern. NOT HAPPY that they closed off the buffet to children. I live locally. I often took my 15 year old son here because he loved the choices. Paid a hell of a lot of money to eat there, even on weekdays. Have stayed here probably 100 times since they have opened. Rooms are very large and are finally getting somewhat updated. Glad to see the room we got over the weekend had new carpet but still areas of the room were dirty. Housekeeping has not been the best this past year. Earlier this year when we stayed the room was gross and I complained but no one seemed to care. Even found a piece of Saran Wrap in the sheets, bachelorette penis confetti behind bathroom door, soiled towel in closet and these were all on separate occasions. Jose at the front desk is horrible along with the "manager" Heather who is worthless. If you need help or have a question don't bother asking them. Luckily I had access to the club and Jennifer was very helpful. Valet guys are always great and have our car ready with bottle water. Maybe have the valet guys teach Heather and Jose a thing or two about customer service. read more

I'm honestly not sure why I have not left this review sooner. At the end of last year while me and my girlfriend were staying at Ameristar she was bit by a. It in the middle of the night multiple times. I awoke to this and we immediately went downstairs to notify the front desk.. At that point my girlfriend was ready to leave and was understandably very upset. We had been asleep all of 3-4 hours and this happens. While our room was comped (I could have truly cared less it's the very least they could do) the Ameristar insurance company contacted my girlfriend who gave them the run down providing photos and proof of missing work (one of the bites was by her eye which swelled up.) they declined any claim. I feel like I should have got a lawyer involved honestly. We will not being going back anytime soon. Just a terrible overall experience. Attempted to stay at the Ameristar Black for two nights January 29 & 30, 2020. Would have been our fourth stay. Upon checking in we found that the in-room safe was not in working order. (not good in a casino hotel). Called the front desk, they said would send somebody right up. 45 minutes later called again and was told "don't know when we can send somebody up". Asked to just switch room. Hauled luggage back to front desk and was given another room. No apology whatsoever. Went back up to second room. Safe locked - apparently from previous guests. told to come back down and get another room. Again, no hint of an apology. Went to third room- obviously not cleaned- food on floor- used toothpick on nightstand. went back down to front desk and said we are leaving, can't stay here. Again no attempt to rectify situation - no hint of an apology-just told we wouldn't be charged. Have to say I have never encountered worse hotel personnel in my 64 years. Insult to Injury ? My Favorite hotel/casino in Black Hawk, have been coming here for years but the food at the Waypost has changed and not as good as it was a year or so ago. The room service menu/food is horrible! Please go back to a normal menu with normal food. The hotel room is nice, roomy and comfy, it's also in a good location, smack-dab in the middle of all the other hotel/casinos. Just moved to Colorado and taking in the scenic mining town and casino offerings. I chose to stay at Ameristar due to central location. Front desk personnel were every friendly and casino was spacious and nicely decorated. No-smoking double queen room was big and bathroom with glass panel shower was excellent. I had great sleep in the soft bed and pillows. I play Texas Hold'em so I hit the poker room right away an found many tables and friendly staff. I signed up for players card and asked about comps. Turns out players who spend more than four hours in poker room get a special $79 room rate which saved me over $41 per night! Bonus!!! Restaurants on premises are good for casino standards and have affordable food. Steakhouse is pricey for premier steals but I ordered the regular sirloin and it was delicious. I am a regular at this casino and was up there last weekend. I had some friends come up to the Ameristar for the first time. They were disappointed to say the least. To start with, they parked in the parking garage and 3 of the 4 elevators that take you to the casino were not working. They parked on level 5, and, after a considerable wait, took the stairs to the casino floor. When they got off the elevator, they noticed one of the main escalators that take you from level 1 to level 2 was broken. They asked one of the floor people when it was going to be fixed. He had no idea, and said it had been broken down for several months. They then noticed a long line at the promotional kiosk by the broken escalator and asked what was going on. The people in line told them the machine is always very slow, but, if they want to print off their food coupons, they have to wait. Sometimes for up to 1/2 hour. By the time I met up with my guests, they were all ready disappointed with the casino and said they would never come back. read more

I recently went here with a friend of mine and we were extremely pleasantly surprised. The town of Black Hawk itself isnt much to look at and this huge high class hotel/casino is grossly out of place there. That being said, what a gem!! The rooms were extremely nice and reasonably priced. The food at the restaurants was nice but I too was shocked at how early they closed. I was not impressed by much at this establishment. In my opinion it is to focused on nickle and diming you to death than caring about customer service. Good location and nice rooms but service on the casino floor is terrible. Given that Blackhawk is a gambling town I would think that is where most people are at during their stay here. Drinks are over the top expensive even if you are gambling. It is free if you are willing to wait 30 minutes on a waitress to bring you a drink. We walked up and ordered from the bar twice because we were tired of waiting. Both times were charged and when I finally asked the bartender about it she told me that unless I was physically playing the video poker/blackjack or one of the slots directly within her field of view she had to charge us. Any other casino we were in on the strip we had zero problems getting free drinks and the wait staff was far more efficient elsewhere. Ameristar is large enough to not be such sticklers. read more

My husband and I were really excited to stay at the Ameristar while he was home for 2 weeks on Christmas leave. We upgraded to the room with a jacuzzi suite to treat ourselves after being separated for 9 months for training. We arrived and the front desk was friendly. They were busy, but got is checked in pretty quickly. We got to our room and were shocked at how big it was! It was also nice! So far so good. I noticed that there were left over pieces of decorations taped to the walls still. Not a huge deal, but then I got to thinking that housekeeping might not take much time cleaning. We then decided to try out the jacuzzi. Filled it up, got in, turned on the jets, and a few seconds later? Small black hairs started floating around the tub. It was pretty obvious where these hairs were from. Grossed out and annoyed, but we went on with our night and said we'd call in the morning. Then I noticed other things in the room that led me to believe that the rooms are not cleaned well. We ended up asking for a refund because the room shouldn't have been checked into in its condition. It took the supervisor a few days to get in touch with me after two different messages and we did not receive the $400 refund like we were told. read more

I'm writing this review to let everyone know the unsavory practices that Ameristar engages in. It isn't their benefits they offer it is how they engage in lying and hiding things while saying they are giving you something. It is because they are so dishonest. I'm talking about the Ameristar resort in Black Hawk, CO. in particular. We went there with a group of people and since we had never been there before we all signed up for player's cards. We signed up at two different windows with two different workers. We were all told that if we got 25 points we would get a free buffet for signing up. We all went and made sure we all had 25 points. When we wanted to redeem for our buffet I went to a Player's Club desk and talked to a very patronizing, snooty black man. I don't know his name but he had a foreign accent. He was very rude in informing me that bonus points didn't count. I told him nobody had let us know. They said points. They didn't tell us there were two types of points. Then I asked how you could tell the difference between the points. He said we had to go to the desk and he would tell us how many "real" points we had. The point is, it was a scam. It would have been different if we hadn't been promised something and then had it taken away. If they hadn't offered us any incentive we would have been perfectly happy. If the "real" and the "fake" points had been explained to us we would have been happy. We all spent more money than we intended to to earn the "points" thinking it was worth it because in the end we would get dinner.
