We recently found ourselves in need of a new natural gas hot water heater, and we were in a bit of…read morea hurry to get it. I actually ended up getting connected with Pratt's through Lowes in Lacey - I bought the water heater there and they setup the appointment with their local plumber, which happened to be Pratt's. Since I didn't have the opportunity to pick out the plumber myself I was a little bit nervous about who I might get. I was pleasantly surprised. They called about an hour before the start of the 2 hour window Lowes told me they were expected to arrive to see if it was ok if they came early. They were organized, professional, and clearly very knowledgable. They worked quickly, but with attention to detail (fast did not mean careless with them) and were completely done in just a couple hours. If you are going to go through a store like Lowes or Home Depot in the Lacey/Olympia area, go to Lowes on Yelm Highway so you get setup with these guys. And if you need a plumber for something else give them a call!

Our service technician, Rob was dispatched quickly to help us when our heater kept blowing fuses…read more He inspected the indoor and outdoor components and discovered a shorted wire in the outside unit. It was bumped up against a copper wire and literally melting. He quickly repaired that, explaining as he went along. Discovered some other glitches and needed to come back a second time, in 2 days with an ordered part that he replaced. Now the heater is working correctly and that was well worth the money. I liked the office staff and their excellent communication skills. Highly recommend their service.

We hired AmeriCool to install the HVAC system in our new build in 2022-23. When placing the heat…read morepump, they opted for convenience instead of paying attention to the design of the home. Whereas the plans called for a unit which exhausted upward, they opted to install a unit which exhausted out the side -- and pointed that right at our front door/porch and directly across several thousand dollars worth of landscaping that had already been installed (unit placement was one of the last install items). Flash forward to winter. Though the weather was typical PNW -- rainy but above freezing -- the heat pump's frigid exhaust created an ever-thickening layer of ice on the concrete porch and steps just outside the front door and along the paver walkway leading to the driveway. Also, the exhaust desiccated several of our plants. We contacted the manufacturer who stated we could build a 4' high cedar slat fence 2' in front of the unit to redirect the exhaust, but this ultimately failed because the unit was tucked into a corner nook between the garage and home. The redirected exhaust built up an ice sheet under the unit and 10' up the adjacent gutter until the ice pushed the unit over on its side. Americool's response: "It happens and you're not under warranty." We worked with another company on a solution which we ultimately performed ourselves -- a wind baffle coupled with gapping the fence slats, a tray under the unit with underground piping to our storm drain, installation of an outlet and placing a plug-in deicing rod in the tray to keep the condensate drainage liquid so it can drain away. On a new build! They could have located the unit anywhere! Or better yet just installed the upward-exhausting unit called for in the plans. Just avoid these fools.
