They have recently changed how new accounts are set up. They also have become very corporate: separate departments, middle management, and unfortunately do not communicate with the customer or each other well at all. For me and my new home: 8 days to set up a new account, 4 days to set up a safety check, and several more days to fill a tank!!?? 7 times the service agent stated they were unable to reach the appropriate person. 7 times they stated they would call me back. 1 time I got a call back only after I requested a supervisor. That is over two weeks to get service on an empty tank. That is two weeks with no propane or service from a company that has significant competition and demand in the area. My advice, look elsewhere for other providers in your area. Unless you enjoy cold water and no heat or ability to use the oven in your home!! read more

Customer service absolutely dismal. I will try and find another provider. Terrible service.

I was on the phone with them 3 times, one person hung up on me. There website sucks. And their offices are not open anymore. Wanted to order for a 120 gallon tank. There customer service is bad. Not to many companies will fill this size tank once a year. read more

WARNING. Do not use. We have been Amerigas customers for fourteen years. Our tank is remotely monitored and we are supposed to get deliveries automatically. Our 1000g tank ran dry. We've been without propane for four days. No hot water, no cooking, no heat. We've probably called 10 times and been on hold for literally hours. We get lies and empty promises. Worst customer service ever. read more

This Branch of AmeriGas is HORRENDOUS. It's always a battle to get a fill. A major storm came in and knocked down trees. We were on generator power for a week. Mid week I called and asked for a fill. No response. Thursday I called for a fill. No response. Friday I called for a fill...begged for a fill. No response. Saturday, the gas ran out and were in the cold without power until Sunday night when PGE finally fixed the lines. We have still asked for a fill as there is more snow coming. They won't do any emergency fill. The manager at that location is extremely rude and apparently will decide to take you off the route if you show any attitude with him. The snow starts tonight and if we are without power and without generator power because of their incompetence and laziness I will file for food loss compensation. DO NOT go with Amerigas. Campora is our next choice as soon as this snow clears up. I have never dealt with a company who deals with keeping people up and running in times of lines being down and cold having such attitude. Why would we keep them? Remember that Summer is coming and PGE will shut down. If you have them and run on generator power you CANNOT rely on them for a fill. We have 3 tanks with them and all will be gone by the end of the month. read more

They get one star for delivering gas in a timely manner. They only get one star because they charge twice per gallon what everyone else does. $4.30/gallon.....and then they want $60 to remove their tank when you switch companies. Pirates at best! read more

I have just purchased a house that had an Amerigas propane and I never have had any propane service experience before and was not aware of the old account with the previous owner did not transfer during the close of the home purchase escrow. Three month later on one of the coldest day on December 16 , without any written notice or knocking at my front door , someone from Amerigas walked onto my property and disconnected, disabled and locked the propane tank . Later that evening ,I have received a call from my 81 Year old Mother, shivering and letting me know that the heater does not work. After rushing over there and investigating the problem and to find that someone from Amerigas has disconnected the propane tank. I rushed to Walmart and purchased Three electric heaters and electric blankets to get by until next morning. I was extremely upset and called the local Amerigas first thing in the morning and without any apologies ,they insisted that it was our fault by not transferring the account and they have no obligation to give us any notice before disconnecting the propane tank. No sympathy , no nothing and no regards about an 81 year old women that could have froze to death . I had no choice at this time to go ahead and establish a new account just to get the service reconnected. A week later ,I receive an invoice for $215.06 for APP&S Service Dispatch Charges and APP&S Service Labor Charge. Why? I'm using the same tank that was disconnected and was never removed from my property and I am buying Amerigas propane from them as well , why are they charging me $215.06? Called the customer service five times and was on hold each time over one hour and each time the support person hung up on me. the first two times , I thought it was an accident that we got disconnected I insisted to give my phone number to the customer service support person and told them to call me back and yet they disconnected again and did not call me back . I tried to chat and tried to email my dissatisfaction and still did not receive any response . I am not a complainer and this terrible experience forced me to let everyone know how bad this company is and stay far away from them. I will buy my own tank or go to another local company that takes care of their customer. Thank you for reading read more

I called the Placerville office to find out when the propane I had ordered 2 weeks prior was going to be delivered. I spoke to Kurt and he was very rude. Not only was he rude, he wouldn't give me any estimate for when my propane would be delivered even after I explained that my propane tank was down to 20%. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

change to automated voice response unit is super bad. terrible ridiculous that you cannot call them and speak to a human.

I used to like these guys. I had no idea what the big deal was. I'd seen that not very many people liked them, but I'd never had problems. Now I realize why everyone hates them so much. I signed up two years ago and agreed to contractual terms that stipulated that paying an annual fee would lock me into specific rates. I was told when I signed up that this was an annual renewal ordeal. I was recently WAY OVERCHARGED per gallon on my last fill up and when I called, they said my contract expired. I was told I was supposed to have automatic renewal as I had been automatically charged the year prior and everything went over smoothly. On my last refill, not only was I not told what I'd be charged for the refill, I was not told that my so-called "new customer contract" had expired and I was charged almost FOUR DOLLARS A GALLON. I called them up and they said that the contract I had was only for new customers and was only a TWO year contract, non-renewable. WTF???!!! This is entirely NOT what I was told when I signed up and am now on the hook for an ADDITIONAL $500 to this sleezy company because they bamboozled me into this contract, leading me to believe an annual renewal would "lock me into" [TERMS THEY USED] fixed rates, which already were not the best, but better than FOUR FLIPPIN DOLLARS A GALLON!! Completely sleezy. I am going to have to buy tanks from somewhere else now and use someone else, because I am not going to want to use them after this. Now, I don't take anything away from anyone, I call 530 622 4777. Don't know if I got the right one here, but AmeriGas is AmeriGas, one way or another. The ladies I've always spoken to have always been helpful and professional, even with this last call where I was extremely angry, although not their faults and nothing they could do about the situation, at the very least, they have always been good. So, again, at the very least, AmeriGas has friendly and professional call service staff. Thanks for making the BS as pleasant as possible, I suppose. read more

We called Amerigas because that's who owned the tank on the property that we bought. Unfortunately we will be calling a different provider with the next fill up. In the middle of a snow storm, over the holiday, we called and told them we were "very" low. The girl in the office was very unsympathetic to the fact that we had 5 kids and 2 adults in a house with only 12% gas left. We received our "pre-paid for" gas about one week later. Thank goodness we also have a wood burning stove, because the temperatures have been below freezing. I only give two stars because the drivers are good. read more

Amerigas does not want your business . I have 2 accounts with them , 1 a 4 plex In placerville and my home in Cameron park. They raised the price to 5 dollars a gallon for my tenants and I didn't know until 1 tenant complained. I called to speak with my rep and was told that they would call me back that day. A week went by and I called again . The person at amerigas said that it takes 72 hours to get a call back from management. I said I would wait on the phone as it has been a week and no call, she put me on hold and came back on the line to say that they would call me back within 72 hours, this has been another week. I called another propane company and I'm taking my business elsewhere . The highest propane cost for my tenants would have been 3.49 a gallon this year with the new company . Plus no meter reading fee that was charged by amerigas . What's going on amerigas ? read more

It's Christmas Eve and we are on auto fill, which my account says was pending November 10, but no delivery ever made. We started getting worried about Christmas & our guests v coming so we started calling them 12/10. Got a text 12/15 saying delivery is imminent. By 12/20 we still had not been filled. Called. We were promised 72 hours..Nothing.... Called again after 72 hours expired, Then promised 1 day expedited delivery which should have happened today, Christmas Eve. At 3:30 I called the office (the local Placerville #) which said they were closed. Probably having a Christmas party and left work early. I just called the 800 # and surprisingly got somebody to answer. She stated once they could locate a driver they would deliver, but I know that won't happen. It's now 7:30 pm . We will be out of propane for Christmas (our only source of heating, stove & water heater) .Amerigas is not back in office for 3 days....not that I have any hope they will deliver then. I'm dumping them ASAP! read more

I am appalled at the price gouging by Amerigas in Placerville, CA. The price skyrocketed since my last fill and was over $700 to fill my tank that used to cost around $450. No notice, just a higher bill. All this from a company that overfilled my tank last summer and caused it to leak out all over my yard. When the fire department called me and them to warn of this, they denied even being there that day. They billed me for a fill that day though ! Not at all happy with this company. read more

If there was a negative number - or at least a Zero - I would have picked it. Two other local providers are priced at $2.99 / gallon and is their standard price with no discounts. That's not going any better. read more

Amerigas is the worst propane company in America. Good bye you terrible don't care about customers crap company. Trying to still charge me 4 dollars a gallon. Well I just set up with ferral gas and I'm getting a 500 gallon tank and getting it for 1.39 per gallon on my first fill up. 208 is there price right now. Plus they get there gas over seas so they are not fraking wells in our home country. I said filler up all the way. And there going to install it for free it's 60.00 a year to rent and I'm already in love with them. I suggest to everyone get rid of amerigas. They suck. read more

Just received a bill for propane purchased in December of 2015. I had paid in full. Somehow they didn't get the bill on my account and gave me a credit on my March fill. I have an invoice for March showing a zero balance. I have not had any contact from them since March of 2016 and now they want to bill me for propane I received last year?? I called in the morning. Asked for a call back from a manager. I called back at 4:30pm....and the manager had logged off their computer so they could not help me but promised to call back tomorrow. We will see if I hear from them. I think it is time to find a new propane company! read more

We have rented a tank and bought propane from AmeriGas for over 25 years. Have always known we were getting poor rates. This time we had it!! Was presented with a bill for 4.019 per gallon. Called around other local providers and the highest was $2.799 per gallon. A considerable difference. When I contacted AmeriGas and asked why such a high price Candy offered to charge $3.21 per gallon instead. Poor business right off the bat. If they can do that why was I not charged that from the get go? When I explained that I would be switching out to another provider Candy then got VERY snotty and said that in that case no reduction of fee. Long story short. DO NOT GET YOUR PROPANE FROM AMERIGAS. Unless you want to be treated badly and over charged!! read more

I had a gas oven not working properly and called an appliance repair person who said I needed a new igniter. He kept turning the oven on and off and smelled gas. As a safety precaution I called Amerigas to come out and check on it. Frank from Brooksville responded very quickly and checked everything from the tank to inside the house. Fortunately, no leak was found. He even looked at the oven and agreed it was possible the igniter was worn out. The stove is old. Frank was courteous, very knowledgeable about how things work and I felt very assured that I was safe. Thanks also to Mary who dispatched Frank and told me what precautions I should take. I now know how to turn the gas off at the tank if needed. You all rate ten stars! Thank you Amerigas. Peggy Murphy. read more

It appears to me that this company is on a campaign to drive away customers. Or they are simply overcharging to drive up profits in the short term at the expense of losing customers over the long term. They purchased my local supplier in 2013 and have systematically raised rates. My latest bill was over $4.00 a gallon while the competitors are charging $2.49, equating to a $300.00 difference for one month. Now, they also charged me almost $200.00 to send someone out to check on a gas leak. They have raised the tank rental in the same period, this for an old tank inherited from the previous propane supplier. But to add insult to injury, they have let me run out of gas twice and have let me come within hours of running out twice more. While they have ruined the quality of service from two previous companies, Northern Propane and AAA, they have worked hard to drive me away. read more

I started dealing with the local office of Amerigas in early December 2014. I spoke with a young lady at the front desk, to get new service set up. She assured me everything would be taken care of: after a credit check was completed, they would come out and fill the 500-gal tank and set me up on a Budget Payment Plan. I was told it shouldn't take more than 7-10 days. We hadn't moved into our home yet, and when we did move in the weekend after Christmas, the tank was empty. After several irate calls (and being hung up at one point), they sent a driver out to complete a pressure test and fill the tank. The delivery driver was courteous, helpful and professional. Fast forward to today: I called and spoke with a man named Benjamin, and asked if I had been put on automatic fill and set up with a Budget Payment Plan, and he said that we had been set up for automatic deliveries, but not the Budget Payment Plan. When I asked the price of gas, he stated that it was $3.17. I asked that he NOT put in an order, and that I would be shopping around for better customer service and better fuel prices. He hung up on me! Did nothing to try and preserve a brand new customer! Just hung up without so much as "Have a nice day," or a "Goodbye." RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!" Now I am definitely going to shop around, and say "Goodbye to Amerigas." read more

I have been only been using AmeriGas for a short time. This is our first winter with them, and they have jacked up their price to $4.11 per gallon. I called two other companies who quoted me $2.80 and $2.40 per gallon. That is not an intro rate, those are normal everyday rates. I called AmeriGas and asked for an explanation. They had none and offered me a 10 cent discount on a future delivery. What a joke. Needless to say, I have a new propane company scheduled to start next week. Take a look at Kamps or 49er Propane, they are much more reasonable options. I'll post a review of Kamps after I work with them for a while. read more

Amerigas Is Awesome! They give good discounts and have been the BEST propane company I've EVER been with past and future!!!

I would give 0 stars if possible. They reneged on our longstanding pricing agreement and gouged us. I've been trying to get them to get their tank out of my driveway for over 3 months now. Avoid this company! read more

This Amerigas is probably the most pathetic excuse for a propane company in placerville. If I could give zero starts I would. We used Amerigas for over a year. Always paid the bill. I decided to go out of town on vacation for a month. When I returned I noticed that the bill was a bit past due. So instead of sending in a check I paid the bill online. I never got one phone call from Amerigas or anything. Well about 2-3 weeks later I received a call from a collection agency for Amerigas. I was furious! They actually sent my account to collections for non-payment and added in over $300 in fees. I called their office and asked what was going on. The employee said I should not have made the payment online. Why have the option then?! She told me they would not waive the fees. I made a reference to the bad reviews they have online and she replied "that doesn't matter"! She basically said I have to pay all the fees or they will report it on my credit!! The whole time I was on the phone with her she was rude and unapologetic. She kept blaming me. I was a good customer for over a year with no issues and this is how they treat me?! Being self employed I understand the value of good customer service. Amerigas is unprofessional, unorganized, and just has a huge lack of customer appreciation. To any prospective Amerigas customers stick to one of the small family owned propane companies in town. read more

If you can help it, do not go with Amerigas. All the reviews you see are true. They literally cut out all their local phone support in favor for an automated system that will hang up on you after hours of waiting. You can't even report an emergency in a timely manner. The other side of their horrible service is their technicians. Where do I start? We've had technicians adjust our water heater temperature to maximum without warning us. Try having a disabled child go to start their own shower (which took you years to teach) only to be scolded by near boiling water, and then the post traumatic stress that follows when they now take a shower. I've had other technicians try to scam us by having us pay them directly to fix a problem, and not through the company itself. Finally, they double charged our account for a single month... Try getting your money back thru the automated system that hangs up on you after 3 hours+. No response to my e-mail's after 3 weeks. Companies like this don't deserve to continue. And if anyone happens to be filing a lawsuit against them, please make it class action lawsuit as to include the rest of us who have been mistreated by these crooks! read more

0 of 5 stars if able. I have used them since they inherited Northern Propane which i was very happy with. I auto pay every 2 weeks and after never actually looking at my bill for well over a year. Our experience with Amerigas was five stars. Let me start off by saying we had a leased tank on the property but we wanted to get our own so we we would be able to shop around for the gas and not be locked into one company. We decided on Amerigas for the tank purchase and initial fill up. We purchased a HUGE tank(can't remember the size, husband knows). Our driveway is long and narrow but they were able to get it in and set it up. They took care of everything and made sure all was well. Their drivers are FANTASTIC, they make the company look good. It's disappointing to see so many people unhappy but we can say that our experience was great. read more

So I came back at exactly that time and she said he came in and left again. She said come back right after lunch so I did and she said he isn't here try back in a hour. I came back in a hour and she said he isn't here and didn't know when he would be back. I asked her if she had a way to contact him on the road and she said no we don't have is number.
