Nasty coffee. Good service and good selection otherwise. Very convenient to the freeway.

They are extremely helpful. During power outage gave me some melting ice bags for keeping my insulin cool until power was returned

Incompetent staff. Staff also lets various patrons and non patrons loiter around entrance making people uncomfortable.

Would you go to a gas station where it could cost you $167 cash to fill up your gas tank?…read more We were staying in South Lake Tahoe, where the cheapest gas was $6.59 a gallon, and were set to drive home through the suburbs of eastern Sacramento to the Bay Area. www.gasbuddy.com said Fuel 4 Less in Placerville had the cheapest gas at $5.99 a gallon, matching Costco Folsom, another 22 miles away. My 2017 Honda Civic computer readout gave a remaining range of 68 miles, about the distance from South Lake Tahoe to Placerville. Got here at 9am on a Friday, just as a couple of pickups were leaving. To fill up one of those pickup trucks with a 28-gallon tank would cost $167 in cash. Maybe they're here for the lowest priced cigarettes also. Turns out it's $5.99 a gallon paying in cash, and $6.09 a gallon paying by debt or with credit card. Not in the habit of carrying large amounts of cash. I had the cash but wasn't going to chance going inside to pay. Other reviews had warned of store clerks with an attitude, of ladies being ogled by shady characters standing around, or of drivers coming back from inside, and finding their vehicles blocked in. Don't have to worry about being ogled, but still not worth saving 60 cents. Finally, what store being under new management, would apologize to its loyal customers for any inconveniences experienced under the old management? Turned out, I only needed 9.79 gallons to drive 399 miles, or 40.75 miles per gallon. With a 12.5-gallon tank, could have driven 509 miles, or another 110 miles further. Of course, could have ended up stuck on the 8-mile-long San Francisco Bay Bridge, out of gas.

For other Tahoe resorts, we know exactly where we'd generally stop. So we decided, Placerville would be a spot to stop. The Shell was about 20 cents more for some odd reason, so we went to the 76 and although cheaper, the service could be a more friendlier. L O C A T I O N Located right off of 50 on the way to Tahoe. You can't really miss it as there's only two gas stations in Placerville. The Shell which is closer to the freeway and then this 76 which is a little off to the side. S E R V I C E I had noticed the restrooms were outside but were locked and there was a sign that it was only for customers. so I went inside and the service agent was inside. I had asked about the restrooms and he barked at me "only for customers." I pointed to my car outside as we were getting gas. Then he swiftly handed me the key. I think if he would be a little friendlier and nicer, there would be more willingness for folks to go here and potentially buy more items in the convenience store. O V E R A L L It's okay. I saw a lot of folks stop by and end up leaving after seeing the restrooms were only for paying customers. The restroom was clean for the most part. I would likely come back only if we couldn't find any other spot for gas on our way up to Tahoe.

It has a little mini mart, so you can buy snacks, sodas and water. The bathrooms are outside, so you'll have to ask for a key from the clerk. The clerk was very nice. He greeted us and thanked us after paying for our purchases. There is also a KFC right on Canal St when you turn off from 50, so if you're needing food, it's just across the way.
